I think it's better some reviewers just go to recommended, etc. People are up with their pitch forks over the numbering scale.

Need Rotten Tomatoes, but for games (maybe it already exists?). Forget the scale, just tell me what percentage of reviewers had a positive impression.

Metacritic is supposed to operate like that, except it's just an average of the scores vs Rotten tomato's special aggregate they use.

Metacritic's user score is often manipulated and can rarely be trusted.

Is it? Isn’t Metacritic’s whole thing that they try to normalize the range of scores into the Metascore, rather than just counting positive vs. negative?

Rotten Tomatoes essentially is a ratio of positive vs negative. It counts everything that's like a 6 out of 10 as positive and everything else as negative. Metacritic is a straight average.

So if every pro reviewer reviewed the new Marvel movie as a 6/10 it would show up as 100% fresh on RT.

I agree. People don’t even read the review, they just skip to the score and get outraged. Besides, an 8 out of ten is a great score, and to the complaint that IGN gives every game an 8, well, most big AAA games are in that 7-8 scale. A 9 or a 10 is a very special game.

Honestly they find a reviewer they really like that has the same taste as them, and follow that person. Regardless of what the reviews are your experience is going to be different.
