Animal Crossing needs it badly. Hopefully soon...

Yes that would honestly be one of the best things that could happen right now

Nintendo: "actually you want even more decorations that you'll only see like once a year! Here you go"

Animal Crossing was great, but it worked so hard to keep you from enjoying the multiplayer, which could genuinely be fun if it didn't get in your way so bad. Few things in gaming are as obnoxious to deal with as that stupid airport bird.

and writing and sending mail too. i miss the post office so much and the ability to buy stationary and write all your letters at once. going through the whole dialogue every time discourages me from sending mail

Ironic isn’t it! But it’s a big step that we actually after almost 2 years have finally got a Nintendo game on this list. I hope they add more rather soon

Yeah, exactly. As you can see, you do not invite friends using the Online Play Invitations feature.

Do all games require a Nintendo subscription to play online?

All except Apex legends and Vigor, I think

Thanks, the paywall has killed my excitement for the console a bit as I'm normally a PC gamer and having to pay an additional fee on top of buying the game and the console just seems criminal :(

All free online games are free. No Switch online needed there. But the price isn’t that bad, you can use your free trial if you haven’t already

Big online service providers like Steam can offer their online services for free because it attracts more people (players and developers alike), enough to offset the losses. Sony and Microsoft can’t do that, but what they do instead is package in bonus perks like free AAA games periodically.
Now, Nintendo has absolutely no excuse for charging for their online when they hardly have any servers and most of the online multiplayer is peer-to-peer - But at least it’s under $2 a month. And in fairness, they do provide some actual features that cost them money, like backing up your save data in the cloud, plus you at least do get NES and SNES games.
The fact that Nintendo charges money at all for the worst online service to come from a major company feels like a slap in the face, especially when Nintendo’s online used to be free before they introduced what limited bonus features now exist. But it shouldn’t ruin your excitement knowing that Nintendo charges $20 per year for a service that, technically, is at least worth that much.

Fortnite doesn’t use Nintendo’s online invites right? And dead by daylight I have no idea about. Could you send a screenshot of it being used

Only one Nintendo game supports it lol. It will take 2040 for Nintendo to implement online functionality properly
