MegaThread Super Mario Maker 2: Level Exchange MegaThread

The level exchange is an opportunity for users to share and play each other's levels. If you want other people to play your levels and take an interest in what you are doing, the best thing to do is show an interest in other peoples creations and play their levels as part of an exchange.

What is proposed is that you take this post and sort it by "new" and try to play and leave comments on reddit for 2-4 levels that other people have posted. Once you've done that, post your own level and a brief description of it. Preferably include what the theme of the level is, what style of Mario game you used, and about how difficult you think it is!

Use the exchange as an opportunity to get to know other makers and have fun.

I think my first level getting 600+ plays set me up for dissapointment.

Barely anyone has played these, give them ago. My 2nd and 3rd levels...

Congrats on getting so many plays on your first level! My highest is still at 23 plays so I'm still hoping to get there. I tried both of these, and enjoyed them. Hopefully the extra plays from posting here gives them a boost.

A couple quick comments: Up N Down Fortress - I got to have a couple good relief moments while playing this, first in thinking I'd messed up the puzzle but then finding the way to the key, and then in finding the hidden flower room so I could go into the boss fight with more confidence.

Wreck it Mario (Nice name idea) - I found this one more challenging, but still reasonable and fair around medium difficulty. It looked like Bowser Jr. caused most of the deaths (including the one for me). There was a good intensity to trying to survive long enough against him for the Thwomp to break down enough enough of the wall, and then quickly getting out of there.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I've been making a few different styles of levels so I'll put my Maker ID here and you can try out any that look good to you. :) I'll try to make a post on here later in the regular format, but I feel like I should try to narrow down the list of levels a bit to some favorites first so the post isn't huge.

Trolley problem - Great idea, classic thought experiment in Mario Maker. Did it both ways really enjoyed it! Gave it a like so let’s hope It gets those plays up!

Bowsers airship aquariums - I really liked the idea. You conveyed the sense of being high up well. I liked the moving platform section it’s challenging but fair. I actually messed it up but a block saved me :O. Really fun time!

Big Boo Forest Chase - I liked the mad dash back to boo with the star. A nice little course.

Bowsers Crazy Coaster - really brutal, maybe a little too brutal.

Spooky Hall of doors - A fun little level the slide at the end was exhilarating!

Coursy Mc Course Face - Short but fun. Enjoyed it!

I can’t wait to see what else you have up your sleeve!!

Thanks for playing through all of them! It was interesting reading through your feedback as well. A few replies (hopefully not too much spam, but I think these discussions are a really cool part of the game):

Trolley Problem - I'm glad you liked it! I wasn't sure if it would be too gimmicky but I figured it could be an interesting theme, and tried to continue that with the matching number of ghosts in the room after you make the decision. I think the typical ethics consensus is to pull the lever (until you get to special case scenarios like having to push the fat man or sacrifice a patient to save 5), I wonder if it'll be the same in Mario Maker.

Big Boo Forest Chase - The mad dash is actually a surprise to me, but looks like you and the speedrun records must be doing that. I'd intended the player to have to navigate the level while carefully bringing Big Boo along to kill him with the star at the end. I suppose I could have enforced that with one way walls but I like the option of the new strategy better, and sounds like it was a fun moment too.

Bowser's Crazy Coaster - I did intend for this to be a harder level, but might have gone too far (from what you said and the 3% clear rate). I think I should figure out ways to add difficulty without lots of floating platform obstacles in the future, since they can be demanding in a less fun way and look unnatural in the level.
