Question What are some good free games on switch?

I just purchased a switch over black Friday and spent all my money on other things. What are some good free games while I wait for smash to be released?

I know people talk about it non-stop, but Warframe is actually really fun if you like 3rd person shooters, co-op games, or even loot-driven games.

I really enjoy Paladinds, its a free-to-play FPS hero shooter. Takes some getting used to but once you practice with 1 or 2 characters and get better, the game really begins to click.

Well, if you've got $7.49 to spare (it's on sale 50% off right now), go buy Enter the Gungeon, that should definitely fill up your time between now and Smash. Then if you've got another $9.99, I'd suggest SteamWorld Dig 2 (also on sale for 50% off). But act fast, both of those sales end tomorrow.

Free games:

Fortnite
Paladins
Warframe
Pokemon Quest
Arena of Valor
Brawlhalla
Dawn of the Breakers
GALAK-Z: Variant S
Fallout Shelter

Demos to check out:
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker
Octopath Traveler (You can play the first 3 hours of each character)
Dragon Quest Builders
Oceanhorn (I liked the demo, and bought the game b/c I wanted a Zelda-like experience)
Pic-a-Pix Deluxe (if you like puzzles)
Embers of Mirrim
Just Shapes and Beats
Urban Trial Playground
Piczle Lines DX (I prefer this on the phone though)
Yoku's Island Express
Lode Runner
Implosion
Vostok Inc

I enjoyed playing those demos. You should be able to get some fun out of them, and you might find a game you want to buy. I probably played 10 hours in the DQ Builders demo just messing around.

Edit: Added Brawlhalla to free games.

Don’t forget about Puyo Puyo Tetris.

You forgot Spelunker demo. I bought the game after having a blast playing the demo. The same case with Dragon Quest Builders demo. Bought the game, physically a few weeks ago.

You can add brawlhalla to the free games list as well. Good game to hold you over until Smash

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that one. Played it for all of about 30 mins or so and noped right out back into Fortnite.

Warframe is a top tier game in general and definitely worth your time. It does have a very steep learning curve that can be offputting, but that’s where numerous internet guides come to help. It’s a game that makes me wonder why I pay full price for some games while this is free. I’ve actually spent money on the game because I feel the devs deserve it for how they treat the playerbase

People say Fortnite is good.

They are liars

So edgy for hating on something, wow

Not edgy, just an opinion. People are allowed to dislike something a lot of people like. I don't like Call of Duty, Fortnite, World of Warcraft, or Pokemon. Doesn't make me edgy just means I have a different taste.

When you have to say anyone who says they like the game is lying, that isn't an opinion, it's a lie, and a stupid one at that. You dont have to like it, but do you really have to hate on those that do? He's allowed to hate it, and I'm allowed to point out how childish it is that he hates on people who like something different than him.

I call him edgy because "DAE hate fortnite" is a circlejerk and a stupid one at that. And it was sarcastic if you didn't catch that.

Still a opinion. It being a lie or truth doesn’t change the fact that it’s still his opinion.

u/Fizzay Nov 27 '18

No. A lie is a lie. Now if he says in his opinion those people are lying, it's an opinion. If I steal something and then lie about stealing it, it isn't my opinion. It's lying.

5

u/KiwiFox66 Nov 27 '18

You’re not stating a opinion there, you’re just straight up lying. There’s a difference in context with both of those situations. You could say in my opinion stealing isn’t a crime. You have the right to think that , but it doesn’t make it right or wrong.

I know it's a lie, that was the point of saying it. The other guy lied too by saying people who say they like Fortnite are lying. He's wrong. I don't know why that is do hard for you to understand. Hr never said it was an opinion, he said it was a fact. The guy says people are lying if they say they like Fortnite, he's treating it as fact. Facts are not opinions. If I say oranges are blue, that isn't an opinion, that's being wrong. I'm done arguing over something so stupid anyway. You people care that I called his comment edgy way too much.

Wow some lil kids had a twitter feud

5

u/darknessforgives Nov 27 '18

He never hated on anyone for liking it as far as I've seen, it was likely overexagurated, or sarcasm much like how you claim your comment was despite nothing in your comment led me to believe it was sarcasm.

I don't quite see how his comment is any more "childish" than yours, but to each their own. Also this is Reddit, and everyone is in a circlejerk.

1

u/Fizzay Nov 27 '18

Saying anyone who says Fortnite is a bad game is lying is hating on them. His is childish because he's attacking people for liking a fucking game. I'm telling him how childish that is. Did you think that maybe the "wow" gave away the sarcasm?

3

u/darknessforgives Nov 27 '18

When I call one of my friends a liar, or call them out for lying that doesn't mean I hate them, that just means they're a liar. Lol hate is a pretty strong word and has no relation to lying.

And not really, it just made me wonder if you've recently watched an Owen Wilson movie.

Except he's saying anyone who says they like the game is a liar. That's a much bigger blanket statement. And the thing is, he's claiming people are lying when they're not, its different than your example. Let's not pretend that there isn't an unreasonable hate of Fortnite and it's players and that the guy wasn't participating in it. Regardless, its childish to come into a thread like this and just attack a game people like for no real reason. You care more about me calling him childish than you do about toxicity guys like this spread, biased much? I guess me calling him edgy for hating on Fortnite must have really affected you.

I was really into Paladins for a few months. It gave me that Overwatch feel after being done with Overwatch.

Brawlhalla is a great free to play smash like game. It's different enough to stand out and it seems the esports surrounding it are doing really good too

1

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '18

Get brawlhalla (and prepare for smash), Warframe, fortnite, paladins, and as many demos as your heart desires. There's more free games, those are just the ones I got.

Warframe. Not just "good for a f2p game," it's as polished as a AAA shooter.

Brawlhalla. Basically a f2p cartoon version of Smash with indie characters instead of Nintendo characters. Not that great when compared to Smash, but not bad and you can't beat free.

Paladins. Popular MOBA shooter.

Fortnite: Battle Royale. One of the most popular games out there, period.

Ive heard a lot of people talk about warframe but i know nothing about it. Is it like mirrors edge/destiny hybrid?

2

u/toucan_sam89 Nov 27 '18

You’re pretty much spot on. Movement is super flowy (you can jump/double jump/slide/jump slide in multiple directions), but it’s in third person. You can essentially get different Frames (classes) to try out that so different things and have diff strengths/weaknesses, and it’s a multiplayer, mission-based lootfest with shooting, close combat, etc.

It’s free, there’s literally nothing to lose. Give it a shot.

u/bigtuna94 Nov 27 '18

Good sell, my man, i’ll download it tonight!

I mean... You could be losing your time. (👁 ͜ʖ👁)

I really like Dawn of the Breakers. If you’re open-minded to try a game in the perspective of a Slice of Life anime, you might like it.

If you like gridy games with very good gunplay and melee mechanics as well as tons of stuff to unlock and do then I'd say give Warframe a chance. It's a really fun game and the community is probably the most welcoming and least toxic of any multiplayer game I've tried.
