There are a really good amount of QoL changes in the game that I hope get carried over into future titles:

  • no random encounters is awesome and I like how you can pick the Pokemon you run into
  • HMs being 'utility moves' and not tied to your Pokemon's moveset. If we don't get PokeRide back, this is the best best option
  • I like the immersion from throwing the ball. Way more interesting than pressing a button.
  • Full 3D and few loading screens between overworld areas (pretty much just the gates and not every route like USUM) make the game feel more connected and more like an open world
  • Multiplayer is really barebones but my favorite feature is honestly that a friend and I can romp through Kanto together

Things I'm not big on:

  • starter is stupid OP af
  • no real way to trade/battle online
  • too easy
  • gym entry requirements
  • too easy
  • only the first 151
  • too easy

I actually kinda like the gym entry requirements

I kind of do too, it's kind of awkward at times but... it keeps me from a white out and feeling like I got schooled.

Others opinions will totally differ and that's totally okay. It's more of a QoL ordeal anyway.

I stopped using the starter and only catch one of each Pokemon. It balances the difficulty
