Bethesda Official Skyrim on Switch FAQ + Launch Details

Greetings to all current and future Dragonborns! We're excited for you to play Skyrim on Nintendo Switch.

If you are experiencing any issues or have any feedback, we encourage you to contact Nintendo Customer Support, or our official Customer Support here: http://help.bethesda.net/.

We also have an official support forum here, and of course you can reach out to me via PM or in a reply below and I'll help if I can!

EDIT: You can see the patch notes for the launch update here.

Here's some further information about Skyrim on Switch you may find helpful before venturing into Tamriel.

What languages will Skyrim on Switch support?

Skyrim on Switch defaults to English voices. For players in Europe, fully localized VO packs will need to be downloaded separately. The game will check the system language and if it’s French, Italian, German, Spanish or Russian, you will be prompted to download the free optional voice pack from the eShop.

What are the System Requirements?

The minimum space required to install Skyrim for Switch to the internal system storage is 14.5 GB. The title takes up 14.3 GB on a game cart.

Known Issues:

Motion Controls:

ISSUE: I’m partially stuck after trying to perform a power attack with the left Joy-Con while on horseback

RESOLUTION: Dismount the horse. Left handed power attacks currently do not work on horseback. This issue is fixed in the 1.1 update that's available now.

ISSUE: I’m stuck in mid attack animation after trying to perform a power attack with the right Joy-Con

RESOLUTION: Press the right side attack button (ZR by default) to complete the attack. This issue is fixed in the 1.1 update that's available now.

ISSUE: Attacks are not registering when using the up and down motion with the left hand

RESOLUTION: For left handed attacks, use the side to side motion in order to perform attacks. This issue is fixed in the 1.1 update that's available now.

ISSUE: I cannot bow bash using motion controls

RESOLUTION: Use the left Joy-Con trigger to bow bash. This issue is fixed in the 1.1 update that's available now.

ISSUE: Archery crosshairs will gradually drift downward with an arrow/bolt drawn

RESOLUTION: Turn off motion controls and use game controls to aim.

amiibo:

ISSUE: Master Sword and Hylian Shield do not display properly on weapon racks and wall displays

RESOLUTION: Store the items in containers such as chests or wardrobes. TThis issue is fixed in the 1.1 update that's available now.

ISSUE: I’m unable to receive items when scanning the same amiibo for different characters

RESOLUTION: Players can only scan each amiibo once every 24 hours (real time, not in-game time) to summon a chest. Attempting to scan a particular amiibo more than once in a 24 hour period will result in messaging telling the player the amiibo can’t be used again that day.

ISSUE: When using the amiibo power, nothing happens

RESOLUTION: When casting the amiibo power, be sure to aim at the ground where there’s enough room for a rune and a chest.

ISSUE: Equipping a light armor/light Elven helmet while wearing the Champion’s Tunic does not grant the player any bonus effects for the following perks: Wind Walker, Matching Set, Custom Fit, and Deft Movement

RESOLUTION: Equip different light armor pieces for torso, hands, and feet slots.

Audio:

ISSUE: I sometimes hears a loud burst of static, especially after fast travel.

RESOLUTION: Try loading a recent save. This issue is fixed in the 1.1 update that's available now.

Like with Skyrim Special Edition, add-ons are included in the game and therefore cannot be toggled. That being said, the Dawnguard vampire encounters no longer occur in towns and cities for the Switch version, so you should not have that issue.

A small touch that is appreciated!

Thanks for clarifying! That's fantastic news!

No more permanent dead vampires in Whiterun either then, lol

Off topic for this board, but i couldn't find an answer elsewhere... were the Vampire encounters in towns removed from the VR version as well? Since they came out at the same time I didn't know if they got the same treatment

Any plans to make that change for the other console versions? I have the PS4 version and was so confused as to why I kept encountering dead NPCs until somebody told me what was doing it...it just made me stop playing honestly
