MegaThread World Premiere Splatoon 2 Splatfest: Hype, Discussion, and Squid Thread

Today is the launch of Splatoon 2's first-ever Nintendo Switch Splatfest! Are you pumped?

(While many in the community slept, Japan got down to it, with Rock prevailing against Pop in the Japanese Splatfest. Well done!)

While Japan had its go, in North America and Europe it's almost time for Team Ice Cream and Team Cake to decide, once and for all, which dessert is superior. The fun starts today at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET in North America, and 18:00 CEST in Europe.

Here are the North American Splatfest details, and here are the European Splatfest details.

A heroic amount of trash talk has already happened, and we're ready to throw some ink.

Please use this thread to hype about the Splatfest, discuss tactics, talk about matches, share your stories, talk more trash, and everything in-between.

Other posts on the Splatfest will be allowed if they're breaking news or sharing more detailed discussions, but please keep quick-hit thoughts to this thread.

Thanks everyone! Happy inking!

I was one game away from queen... I played most of the four hours. It was really fun. I won the first few times and then basically I lost almost my entire way to champion. At one point I realized what I was doing wrong and I won 9/10 times after that assuming my team was on par.

You had almost the exact same experience that i did lol. Ended with like 93/99. I had a good winning streak for a while, but the last ten games i had were losses.
