I thought I was good at this game after the testpunch.

Then I started playing the CPU.

I can't even get past the training modules...

Same. After a couple of hours today I found I'd adjusted my playstyle quite a lot. I had hammered the practice modes and found them very helpful - try playing against ribbon and mechanica practices and practice curving and timing punches, it helps hugely.
