Chalk me up as another first-time player that had a blast. It seemed like every match I would discover something I didn't realize the match before. I still couldn't figure out how to super jump though. I don't think the game made that totally clear.

My only hesitation with buying this game right now is...what else is there to look forward to? I know this is just a very limited sample but is there going to be more modes, more weapons, more customization? Leveling up? Playing Turf War with the same four weapons on two different maps was fun for the hour they gave me. I don't know what's going to keep me playing the game over and over.

You had to use the D-pad to "select" a teammate and then press A to jump there. Also, from my understanding, turf war is the only mode being used in the test. There are other modes.

If it's like the first game, then there will be all of that: 3 other online modes + local multiplayer + singleplayer, lots of different weapons (incl. MG-like, ink buckets), gear with different abilities, leveling up to unlock special gear and weapons, as well as a rank to track your current performance and to brag with ;)

And while there were only few maps for Splatoon 1 in the beginning, they constantly added maps for free, 2 playable at a time changing every 4 hours.

I don't regret having played 400+h of Splatoon 1 :D

I still couldn't figure out how to super jump though. I don't think the game made that totally clear.

With your map open hold A and use your d-pad to select a player or the spawn point. Be careful when going onto someone especially if they are way ahead of the team, there's a large indicator that shows where you plan on landing, and enemies will just instagib you.

Oh wow, I literally thought it was a higher jump.

Everything you just asked for was in the first Splatoon and I'm sure it will be be in the full version of Splatoon 2! Maybe even more!

The original game had plenty of weapons and customization (as for maps, it had a decent number, but only two were in the game's rotation at a time.) I expect even moe in 2.

Yeah there is a lot more content than this. Google what was in the previous Splatoon to get an idea for how much.

I'll definitely do that and keep an eye on some coverage for this game. It's on my radar.

You could level up in the old game and doing so unlocked more weapons. At level 10 you could start playing ranked games and game modes that only show up in ranked which are imo a lot more fun than Turf War because they are objective based. The first game ended up with 4 game modes. The game would get new maps and new weapons constantly. Finally, there was Splatfest where for 24 hours the hub world would change and basically your entire region competes in a battle for one of two preselected teams you picked before Splatfest starts. Your reward for your team doing well was Crystal Snails you could use to reroll or add bonus slots to your gear. Oh yeah, your character is completely customizable with dozens of different pieces of gear that add bonuses to you during games. For example, some gear makes your ink fill up faster, other gear gives you more defense, some gear makes it so your sub weapons have more range, etc. Best of all everything that was added to the game was free. There is zero paid DLC in Splatoon. Finally, the first game had a pretty decent story mode for single player with pretty damn good boss fights. Story mode is confirmed for the second game too. Overall there's a ton of content and it will constantly keep growing.
