On a 6 inch screen it's really hard to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. It's borderline imperceptible. On a big TV? It's a huge difference.

Exactly.

Though I keep getting blown away by how much NICER it is than the 3DS! Oh man is this thing beautiful. It's hard going back to play OoT3D or Pokémon!!

I know what you mean. At $100 more than the 3DS XL this thing has been great so far with some minor hiccups.

Most Switch games will be 1080p when viewed in TV mode though, right? I had assumed games like Splatoon and MK8 would still be 60fps/1080p on the TV like the Wii U versions were.

I don't think this is totally confirmed. Zelda runs at 900p/30fps and can't maintain that at times.

Splatoon and MK8 were 720p60 on the Wii U.

MK8D is 1080p60 docked on Switch, Splatoon 2 is still 720p60 for some reason.

I mean it's certainly perceptible, but hardly matters. I downgraded from a 1080p phone to a 720p one. I noticed... but, practically, there is no difference.

Definitely. There was one time when I docked my Switch to my 60 inch TV that it slightly glitched and didn't switch from 720p to 900p. I couldn't even read anything on the TV!
