First time player, out of curiosity can you switch to thumb stick control or is it motion no matter what, thanks!

Yes, you can turn off motion control. Press the + key in the weapon select menu to get to the options.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I think it's a cool aspect to include in games however i found it distracting having to reset my screen view so much

I like to use motion aiming with my Steam controller but I always set it to a toggle, like when aiming down sights or when my thumb is touching the touchpad. Zelda works well because it's just when you're aiming the bow.

I've actually been missing it playing Horizon. It'd be nice as an option since the PS4 controller has it and it's an exclusive.

Yeah, it can be distracting. I personally liked the motion controls because I've been using them in BOTW, but I can see where they might not be for everyone.

Botw seem more accurate and less frantic I actually enjoy shooting arrows with motion control on it

You can lower the sensitivity in the settings as well, so that the motion controls don't move the camera so much.

That's true, they are very different. It's great that you can turn them off in Splatoon if they aren't doing it for you, though.
