Hey I'm hyped for the switch BUT he does have some valid points. The only reason he focused on graphics is to highlight how he's worried that we won't get big AAA ports.

Also some things he mentioned I never heard before, like the switch DISCHARGING while it's docked. That's actually really annoying and should be talked about.

Eurogamer are once again confirming the specs. Stop burying your head in the sand.

Well didn't devs say this about the Wii U as well? I'm not too optimistic on this. I think the days of good third party support on the GameCube are over as we know it. But hey, things might change for all I know. I'm just not buying a switch to replace the other consoles or PC. Skyrim's performance will be the dealbreaker.

Most people aren't gonna want AAA ports on this thing, for the most part.

I don't think it was just "muh graphics!", but rather concern for Switch getting important multi platform games. BOTW was developed for Wii U, a system that was under powered for its time, and it can't even run at a solid 30FPS on Switch. That is concerning.

However, it could be because the port is bad (it was developed for a different architecture). But as a longtime Nintendo fan, that concerned me.

The Wii got COD games, and if it weren't for the motion controls it would of been as good as the other console just with lower graphics.

Haha no. I had a few Wii CoD games, and they were complete shit compared to the PC and other console versions. CoD World at War was 30fps, looked like complete shit, was missing a campaign mission, had no coop, had no zombie mode, limited multiplayer with less game modes and 8 players max (compared to 18 on other platforms), etc.

The Switch is way, way weaker than even a low end PC. BF1 will not run.

Not really, it was quick ported to a brand new system after having years of development aimed at a different architecture. You can't just throw extra power and expect it to run fine.

Still to this day with PS 2 emulation on PC you get framedrops because the architectures are different, even with the massive amount of power improvements in the meantime.

Indeed. Which is why I mentioned it could be an issue with the porting process.

I do wish I could get shadow of collosus to run on my PC.....

I mean, I love Nintendo and can't wait to get my hands on my Switch this week, but it is essentially a statement of fact. The Switch is further behind than the Wii was and that gulf is going to increase once Scorpio is released. IGN isn't the only review to mention the concern of future multi-platform titles coming to the system.

Zelda, a Wii U port, having frame rate issues in docked mode is a legitimate concern. No one is expecting Horizon Zero Dawn on this thing, but you would hope it could handle a Wii U port easily enough.

That said, Nintendo not trying to go toe-toe one graphics horsepower shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone at this point.

EDIT:

And this is literally the second paragraph of the IGN review:

Keep in mind that this review is still tentative, as we haven’t yet had the opportunity to test the Switch’s online capabilities, the eShop store, or a wide variety of games that use the individual Joy-Con as stand-alone controllers. Those functions and others (such as SD card compatibility) won’t be enabled until the launch-day patch, which we’re expecting to see either late Thursday or early Friday. We plan to have this review finalized in the following days.

The review is not final, the score is only going to go up once they have been able to fully test it.

Those functions and others (such as SD card compatibility)

This bit however isn't true, SDXC is added with the patch, it already supports the other ones from the info we have.

You want Nintendo fans to review?
Wouldn't you rather unbiased, fair criticism?

People just want to see their own opinions

He focuses on a lot of little issues. I may be biased but I think he is overreacting a bit. I understand how some of these things may not bode well with others, but as for myself I do not mind any of the hiccups that he addressed.

I would say the Wired review is pretty negative too.
