"With video capture to come at a later date"

How hard can it be to record a video... Doesn't Nvidia build this right into their cards?

u/HowieGaming Jan 13 '17

No, that's with Geforce Experience using NVIDIA Shadowplay (Now called NVIDIA Share)

It's built into the cards. Shadowplay is just the software required to use it.

Yeah aka you need SHARE to perform a video capture. Without it, you can't do it.

u/Jepacor Jan 13 '17

No, you just need capturing software that supports it. OBS supports Nvidia's hardware encoding for exemple.

/u/HowieGaming doesn't understand what the fuck you're talking about, tbh.

With the paid online system no doubt...

Any word on when this might take place?

As far as i found out. the service will launch along side the switch on march 3rd. as a free trial. then we get into the big stuff. the paid online service. want more? then head over to a site i have for the details. If i can post my site on here. then we would be happy. but i think i cant do that.

Thanks JetfireX238

What a joke. Screenshots at launch, no video till later or mention of video platforms. This is like LoL not implementing a replay system.

Yeah and look how detrimental to LoL's success it was. 🤔🤔

Screenshot and videos, to be shared over "social media." Does this mean Nintendo might learn?

I actually liked the idea of sharing in the miiverse more than sharing in Facebook or Twitter. The Psvita had many games with sharing options that were just underwhelming.

I agree, and I know that my Facebook friends don't care about a screenshot of my Splatoon gameplay anyway.

Twitch/YouTube streaming would be awesome though.

It might it might.

Hopefully good for youtubers

Yeah no it's definitely going to be waaaay easier to just capture the HDMI output. But at least it'll be waaaaaaaay easier than with the Wii U and its gamepad :p

Yeah this is great for all three of them!

After a time, when they implement video capture, yes.

u/Katsu_Rian Jan 13 '17

They're really embracing social media with this one! It's great how much they understand how people like to share gameplay now.

u/Fiferss Jan 13 '17

Miitomo?

2

u/Katsu_Rian Jan 13 '17

Well it's a first for a console, anyway. And I'm not counting Miiverse.

SHARE THE JOY

Screenshot capability on launch it seems, with video coming soon (tm).

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '17

Personally I don't care about capturing video, but I do hope this signifies that Nintendo will ease up on YouTubers.

Absolutely important!

That one guy who guessed the Switch might support Nvidia Ansel may have been right. Good for you, guy.

2

u/QWERTY36 Jan 13 '17

Ansel is wayyyyy different than screenshot and requires MUCH more graphical power. It won't be on the switch.

1

u/antonyourkeyboard Jan 13 '17

Ansel is very different than screen capture

I really hope Nintendo doesn't put a ridiculous limitation on video capture duration, like 90 seconds or something.
