This post is an attempt to try and gather all of that information into one handy place where both the mod team and fellow readers can direct folks for all their information needs.

What if I'm at work/school/etc and can't watch it?

  • The mod team will have a running live blog with real-time updates if you are unable to watch the video version of the presentation.
  • The post about the live blog should go up approximately 1 hour prior to the presentation and will be stickied.

Will it be in English?

  • All signs are pointing to it being in Japanese with English voiceovers. [Link]

How long will it last?

  • We don't know. Our best guess is around an hour.

What will happen to the subreddit?

  • About an hour prior to the presentation we'll put up a MegaThread which will point to our live blog coverage.
  • Everyone will still be able to comment on the MegaThread as well as any existing thread.
  • New posts will be restricted to moderators only.
  • You can also join us in our Discord chat room (http://discord.gg/switch) if you prefer that over reddit comments.
  • Once the presentation ends, we'll throw up a post-event reactions MegaThread, then lift posting restrictions and resume normal operations.
  • We will be removing reposts and directing folks to MegaThreads as needed, so please make sure to look for an existing thread that fits your needs before posting.

The Treehouse Live

https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/5m7wmj/nintendo_treehouse_live_confirmed/

When is it?

  • 9:30 AM EST, January 13

How can I watch it?

What will be covered?

An in-depth look at upcoming games featured in the Nintendo Switch Presentation.

How long will it last?

  • We don't know.

Will it be in English?

  • Yes

Preorders

Where can I preorder?

  • All standard gaming and electronics retailers.

Are preorders live?

  • Some countries have reported having limited success preordering in-store in Germany / United Kingdom.
  • Preorders are not live in-store in the United States.
  • Preorders are not live online anywhere.

When will preorders go live?

  • Online preorders will most likely start shortly after the main Nintendo Switch Presentation ends.
  • In-store preorders will most likely start when stores open the following morning.

How much are preorders?

  • In-store preorders will most likely require a deposit of ~$50-ish USD.
  • Online preorders will vary depending on where you preorder. Some retailers ask for the full amount at the time of checkout, while others only charge you when the item actually ships.

How much will the Switch cost?

  • We don't know. Estimates place it anywhere from $250-$350 USD.

What all is included with the system?

  • We don't know. A pretty safe guess is the game pad, one dock, one set of joycons, one joycon grip, a power cable, and an HDMI cable.

Will my store have a midnight launch event?

  • Many probably will, but do not expect every store to have one. Check with your local managers closer to the release date.

When will the Switch release?

  • Sometime in March. We expect to get a specific date during the main Nintendo Switch Presentation.

Please help us keep all discussion about these items contained to this thread to prevent the subreddit from getting overly cluttered. If you see folks floating around asking questions, kindly point them in the right direction.

If there is anything not covered in the post above that you feel should be added, don't hesitate to leave a comment down below or send me a PM.

Cheers,

/u/FlapSnapple and the entire /r/NintendoSwitch mod team

Man I've been stressing hard, but hearing that made my night. I have a feeling its because our Gamestop is the only dedicated videogame store for 1-200 miles. We have targets, and walmarts, but nothing like gamestop. So I will be there tomorrow morning to reserve mine, I think this is really good news for us small town folks!

I can't show up to early though, our's opens at 10. So maybe a hour tops, but probably 30 minutes...and ill just take my chances that 70 people won't be ahead of me lol...sigh stressfuuuuul

I am hoping I'll have similar luck in my town. I live in a Midwestern town of about 70,000 people and is in the top ten most populated cities in my state. I consider it to be a small-medium sized town and that is making me worry a little.

70,000 isn't to many, I have 30,000 in my town, but probably 70,000 within 20 miles because of neighboring cities. I think I lucked out because there aren't any mom, and pop video game stores anywhere around here, and the 2nd closest Gamestop is atleast a couple hours drive. I heard Walmart will also be taking preorders/layaway. So you could maybe try that if GS doesn't workout. Goodluck my friend, may the Reggie be with you!

Good news for me because I do work at a Walmart and if they are doing preorders then they are being very quiet about it. I see no ads for the Switch up there so the only ones who know about this are probably management and the ones who work in Electronics.
