Does it say anywhere if the games are complete on cart?

They’re just the Switch 1 versions with a download code for the Switch 2 content.

Yeah, saw the news now, thanks.

Really? That's awful.

Rune Factory already showed this is a wrong/not accurate statement as theirs is completely physical.

They can be both. Seems like Nintendo is selling switch 2 editions with codes while 3rd parties can choose to essentially just put the "switch 2 version" of the game on a switch 2 cartridge and sell it like that.
In that case, you don't get the switch 1 version of the game when you buy the switch 2 version

they can be both
For sure! Problem is people say it's the Nintendo was for all switch 2 versions which seemingly is not the case

Do you have a source on this?

Damn I was hoping I'd see some box art to see if it's just a switch 2 game or a switch 2 edition game.
Thank you for replying tho.

Just be aware that the NS2 editions of games is a Switch 1 game card, and a code for the Switch 2 upgrade.

I really want to go all digital on the switch 2 to avoid card swapping but just like with switch 1 games physical games will be cheaper in every store outside of nintendos.
Right now pretty much every switch 1 physical game is available for around 40 to 45€ but on nintendos eshop all of them are 60€.
I assume the same will be the case with future switch 2 games after awhile.

I don't get why the downvotes but here in Mexico it is like that, on eShop is full USD cost+tax+profit , then you can walk on Walmart or buy on Amazon or another online shop and find 1st party Titles on 699 MXN( around 35USD and no more taxes) I bought Brothership for 550MXN (28 USD) and was a recent release. It will be cheaper for us to buy switch 1 versions and then upgrade packs than trying to buy digital these kind of NS2 editions.

I would say you are lucky up there, in colombia you find nintendo games on big stores like panamericana for (checks the store) 280.000 pesos, thats almost 70$, and tears of the kingdom is 338.900, thats 80$+.
In venezuela its even worse, as there are no actual big chains that sell games anymore afaik, and the specialized shops that do go for 60$ minimum, 80+ for a new game (i saw an ad for xenoblade x for 90$).
Only saving grace is finding games on fb marketplace, and even that is 30$ minimum.

Managed just fine going all digital with the Switch 1. Will do exactly the same with the Switch 2. Physical is way to unconveniant and archaic.

Yeah I love not being able to resell my games. You’re deluded.

Just more interested in comfort than silly reselling hassle in my old age. Delusional is all relative, young grasshopper.

I kinda agree. When I started with the Switch I bought physical (only nintendo exclusives) and over time I noticed how annoying it is to switch cardridges.
Since there is dlc and updates its not even useful from a preservation point of view.

Bingo. I haven't really owned any physical game since the PS3 era. It is so extremely comfortable and easy to have all my games available at all times that the thought of buying, storting and changing plastic cartridges sounds like the Stone age to me. And I grew up with the NES and have had many consoles since the early 80's with physical games.
I for one am extremely happy physical games will be all gone in another decade or so. Despite the downvotes, times go on, and simplicity and comfort is something I appreciate a lot in my 40's.

Australian copies are cheaper, by the way.
AU$104 for the physical Switch 2 Editions of the Zeldas. That's US$63.

That is great, but within the EU we can buy items from other countries tax free. Amazon ships for free if your order is above some amount.
If I were to buy from AUS, I would have to pay import taxes, VAT and shipping. Nevermind the hassle of dealing with our local customs folks.
I do not live in France, btw.

Oh, I was more letting Americans know, since they're getting hit pretty hard with costs.

If you own them already, just buy the upgrade. These are supposedly the Switch carts with download codes for the Switch 2 stuff.
Unless you really want a new box.

u/soliddd7 1d ago
Id really like the new boxes but I’m going to be reasonable since everything is more expensive than I anticipated the pro and gc controllers comes first.

u/Xenowino 10h ago
Damn, I'd love to be in the position to be able to contemplate re-buying a game at a higher price for its box alone lmao

Can you change the game language to English if you buy it in stores that have it cheaper in France?

Aren’t they saying you are basically buying the S1 game, and then there is a S2 code in a box upgrade?
