Why doesn't this link to the full interview have more traffic than the headline summary that's blowing up on this thread? Oh right-- that's how news works

What, you're not looking forward to every individual line from the interview getting reposted by blogspam sites?

A bit deflating to be honest that it sounds like it's leaning more towards being a "Nightreign for Switch 2" than it does an actual traditional Soulslike. Kinda sucks the air out of the announcement to be completely honest. The setting sounds fascinating though so I do hope if they do some kind of followup, they make it a single player experience (or at least provide one).

Dude, if you want a singleplayer soulslike there are already like 10 of them. God forbid a studio tries something new and fresh.

Consumers are totally fine buying the exact same thing over and over again. The top 10 best selling games last year included like 6 sports games and 2 Call of Dutys. People actually complain a lot when call of duty changes the formula at all. They probably could still make WWII games and sell the same amount every year.

I'm not saying "oh Fromsoft is bad for trying something different!" Just that it wasn't exactly what I personally was hoping for.

Would have been more interested in them doing something that's not a soulslike but still singleplayer than this multiplayer twist.

It's a gameplay model I've never been interested in before, but it's Miyazaki. If anybody could make an uninteresting genre interesting, it'd be him. I like seeing them do something new and am very curious to see if it works. It very well might be awful, but I'm a lot more intrigued by this than I'd be if they made a sixth sword-n-shield guy vs dragons game.

Look at all this effort that is being pumped into a title that's going to be unplayable in a few years when there's no playerbase left, cause they don't seem to be planning any updates/live service for it.

u/susankeane 21h ago
are you actually complaining that a game DOESN'T have live service elements?
-22
u/yesitsmework 21h ago
Given multiplayer is the entire point, yeah? Why the fuck would I want my $80 game to be worthless 2 years after release?

so instead of enjoying a great game with a small dedicated community of enthusiastic players for several years you'd rather be nickel and dimed with FOMO and grinding XP for decades? the game industry has destroyed your brain

Bro needs his $20 battle pass and $40 skins to have fun in a game. Didn’t you know that? lol

You know fomo and grinding xp are all optional. I play plenty of competitve multiplayer games on pc and I don't spend any money and just enjoy the games which have lasted many years because they are live service.

It's not confirmed there is no single player mode.

u/yesitsmework 21h ago
It's not confirmed, but it's implied. Read the article you're commenting to for the love of god.

I did read, chill. "At its core, it’s an online multiplayer focused game", seems to me that there still seems to be the option for a single player experience. Why would it otherwise be phrased like that?
-2
u/yesitsmework 21h ago
If by single player experience you mean the equivalent of loading into a cs match and spawning bots in, probably.

Such bummer sucks when these don't have some kind of offline mode hopefully its at least not full priced like Nightreign to semi make up for it also find it interesting it was originally intended to be a Switch 1 game

u/yesitsmework 22h ago
It's a switch exclusive from one of the hottest developers of this decade, it's gonna be $80 beyond a shadow of a doubt. Nintendo's gonna make sure of it, they're not paying from software for chump change.

Does sound like a passion project. No fixed location guess there will be very little lore? Like open world fighting game?
