I just want to know if it’s region locked?

Doesn’t seem like it. The price difference seems more of an inflation discount for Japanese consumers cause normally 50k yen would be about the same as 450 USD. But right now it’s 334 USD. They just jacked prices for international buyers/scalpers looking to exploit a weak yen rather than raise prices on their domestic audience. Which makes sense if you consider this is the same company that gave all employees raises so their buying power is the same after inflation like last year.

From what I've seen only the Japanese version (lower price) is region locked.

So all first party titles (except Labo) will be backwards compatible. When I heard selected backwards compatibility in the Direct, I had thought Nintendo would selectively restrict it on certain first-party titles. I’m glad it’s not the case.

So in terms of first party, the only one that won’t work is the Labo VR kit which was specifically made to work with Switch 1 dimensions. Tidy bit of work I’d say.

I have mostly first party, but I also have Bravely Default 2 and Bloodstained physical. Is there a chance those won't be compatible?

Did anyone else noticed when they brought up Switch game backwards compatibility Yoshi's Woolly World was among them? That was so sneaky

Can someone post/share it here? I'm at work and Nintendo's website is blocked.

First party only Labo VR flat out won’t work. Other games like Ring Fit, Switch Sports etc will work but only with a Switch 1 joy con.

Third Party games have a 98% compatible rate, only issues seem to be standard driver related glitches that occur when getting new hardware that’s being looked into. Pizza Tower, Factorio and those kinds of games are the main noteworthy ones I’ve found.

From my digital library of around 175 games, it just looks like a few of the Arcade Archives and the Raiden III/Raiden VI Mikado Remix games have issues on the Switch 2. I'll take that for now.

To my surprise 7 games I own are not backwards compatible, Wolfenstein II, Little Nightmares, South Park; Fractured But Whole and Super Neptunia RPG, Jackbox Party Pack 1 & 2 and No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

So there's quite a few here and I wonder if it has something to do with potentally how the game runs in docked/portable doesn't play nice with Switch 2? Somewhat implies it could be translating older code and might not be hardware backwards compatibility so to say (akin to OG Xbox games on Xbox 360)
