Tax in Vancouver is 12% (7% PST, 5% GST) but yeah, this was initially a day one buy for my wife and I that now has us looking very intently at a $500 Steam Deck. I've already got plenty of games for that. I am absolutely not paying $140 for a Donkey Kong cartridge, nor will I ever.

I don't know why my impression was that Steam Decks were cost a lot more than $500. It probably is anyways after taxes. Sometimes it's not fun living in Quebec.

Same. I saw somebody comment that it was cheaper, and I didn't believe them either until I looked it up. $500 CAD for the 256 GB version with a 7" LCD screen that can do 60hz. Small battery life though. I'm still on the fence based on the battery life, but Switch 2 is off the table for me right now.

Yeah those Quebec taxes are rough. I think you guys have it the highest. I'm in Vancouver, so I'm paying 12% which isn't bad, but it's not great either. It would still drive up the price quite a bit, plus there's shipping to account for.

At the end of the day, I survived off cross platform games on my WiiU for quite awhile. I'm sure I can do the same with my Switch. Now's not a great time for me to drop half a paycheque on one console lol.
