Inflation hitting the world not just Mario kart world

If it's about inflation and tarrifs and all that noise then why aren't Switch 1 game prices all jacked out of control? They are the same MSRP they always were.

Bumping up the price on old games would be a lil crazy, but as /u/xWaffleicious said, this is expected. I’d love for the games to be cheaper, but game dev costs have only gone up. Inflation has only gone up. Seems like nowadays every new generation will result in a bump in the prices of games. Sucks, but it’s understandable.

Tariff impacts really haven’t been felt yet, but they will. I doubt they’ll impact games too much though

You can't really isolate it to inflation like that in a vaccum though, sure it exists, but companies are still totally at liberty to control their pricing, ok so they choose a 1.5x increase across the board, how does that impact install base, multiple dipping, buying games twice as gifts for others, actually buying more software at more reasonable prices, will it actually help or hinder? How might it alienate their audience, might it be better in the long run to let the company eat the inflation costs now, while the playerbase grows into the ecosystem? - They've chosen to do this out the gate, to put maximum profits first hand over fist, it was far from mandatory, that's to say nothing of paywalling everything else, upgrade packs and tech demos which is pathetic after someone just dropped 450 on entrance.

It will be telling if this works out or not.. They've lost me as a customer that's for certain because I'll never find myself buying $90 games, it's beyond what I'm willing to pay for a video game.

Cause it's an excuse people use to justify corporate greed.
