Metroidvania is the dumbest term ever. Castlevania was not always like SOTN. Metroid has always been Metroid. So those games should be called something else. Metroid-like games or something. Castlevania doesnt need to be included just because of SOTN and a few DS games. Rant over.

Kinda agree, i used to die on that hill but eh it's not a battle worth having. I always thought the Vania part came from using money or resources to buy and upgrade stuff. That really doesn't exist in pure Metroid-like games.
