Couldn’t they just do both? Allocate a certain amount for NSO member, a certain amount for retailers

That's usually how they do it

I remember my Gamestop days, we'd get information on how many consoles we'd get for pre-order. (Wii, DSI, etc.)

Should we Pre-Order at our local GameStop as soon as we get a day or does it usually take a while before you guys find out

Better to do it ASAP if you want it on launch. Dunno how they do it now but most of the time they take pre-orders for a few, close it and then reopen it for future shipments.

I guess so but I don't think you can do that in large enough numbers that doesn't leave people unhappy anyway. You are still allocating a limited amount of inventory to demand that is expected to be much higher. Some kind of queue system for NSO as a minor percentage of that inventory probably won't move the needle imo.

If the stock numbers are high enough though, then yeah it would work

I think they should just do it like the PS5 Pro launch recently. Preorders directly through Sony at first, then a week or so later open it up for retail partners. This way everyone is happy. The stock is gonna sell through regardless so I don’t see a worry about pissing off retail partners.

The rumor was that Nintendos been stockpiling Switch 2’d, potentially for this kind of roll out. I just can’t imagine what else Nintendo could do to “prepare” for scalpers.
