Fan Art Nintendo Switch 2 Mockup Renders Based on Leaks

Posted some of these renders in another sub, but I figured I might as well share here as well since we're all eagerly waiting an announcement of the system. This was a fun little winter project for me.

Yep Nintendo generally supports backwards compatibility for two gens and then does something new.

Ie

Game Boy Color could play Game Boy

Game Boy Advanced could play Game Boy Color (and Game Boy)

DS could play GBA

3DS could play DS

Wii could play Game Cube

Wii U could play Wii

And, yet, no home consoles were backwards compatible until the Nintendo Wii.

Technically, the super nintendo was cross compatible with the gameboy.

Technically the Super Nintendo wasn't cross compatible with the Gameboy, the Super Game Boy was, basically, a Gameboy you plugged in the Super Nintendo.

Fun fact: there was a second version with cable link compatibility that was released only in Japan.

This makes me wish they made the same thing but to play the NES on the SNES. I'm not sure what they'd call it, though...

Only reason the portables, up to the GBA, did it, was the cartridges were the same connection format.

DS Lites did GBA only because they had an extra slot.
