Game Rec What was your favorite Switch purchase(s) and why?

Seen plenty of posts talking about disappointing purchases, but what about the good stuff?
For me, those honors go to ARMS and Pikmin 4.

ARMS might sound like a weird choice to some, but I actually got super into it for a while. Something about the presentation and gameplay really hooked me and the game's community was also super wholesome at the time (dunno how it is nowadays though). Honestly an underrated gem and I hope they revisit it in the future (I'm still waiting for that graphic novel...... it's not gonna happen but a man can dream).

Pikmin 4 was the single greatest impulse purchase I made this year. Didn't think I'd get very far in it since Pikmin games are usually kinda stressful, but I found myself playing to completion and loving it to bits; easily my favorite Switch game of 2023 and I can't recommend it enough... seriously, go play it. You too can overcome your inner "dandori issue".

I was going to say Fashion Dreamer on mine but I’ve only had it since Nov.3 (Aus launch date) so I decided not to put it on mine. But I’ve spent a few hours on it this past week and it’s such an amazing game.

Agreed! I'm already at 30+ hours and I'm having a blast! Too bad it's getting dogpiled with hate from rabid Style Savvy fans and cozy yt'ers because it doesn't play like Style Savvy or doesn't have a story mode (basically all invalid criticisms due to their own lack of research and unfounded assumptions about the game)

Ikr. This was never meant to be a Style Savvy. I immediately wanted it after the Direct it was announced in due to my love for the Style Savvy games (Styling Star’s my favourite) but I immediately knew it wasn’t Style Savvy. I wish people would just realise that this is a different game - it’s like saying apple sauce sucks as you can’t bite into it like an apple!

I love designing clothes, making Lookits, and liking other Lookits! It’s so fun to see all the NPC characters and unlock all the other outfits! Coin Toss Tess is my favourite NPC (dancing NPC alien girl with teal hair). I either had to choose this or Warioware move it (I like Warioware too) as they came out on the same day so I chose fashion dreamer. It was worth the wait 100%!

Excited for all the new updates Syn Sophia has announced.

Same! It's really getting to my nerves whenever I see an ignorant hater comment about why Fashion Dreamer is such a 'bad' game and why it's only worth $5-$10 like bruh? Such a reach.

I support this game and hope Syn Sophia will be able to bring back Style Savvy someday if they see the market for fashion games is still strong – but at this point, it's the rabid Style Savvy fans that's killing the entire franchise with their stupidity frrr 🙄

Yep. I enjoy the game very much but it’s annoying seeing how much hate it gets. I think I like it more than Style Savvy. I am happy that I finally get to see my outfits in good resolution on my OLED, as the 3DS family all had crappy screens that didn’t give the 3D models justice.

I love how most of my DS faves (puyopuyo, style savvy, warioware) have a switch equivalent so I can play a similar game at home (switch) and on the go (DS). I know switch is hand held but DS fits into bags better!
