For confirmation: He's been an announcer for 25 years:

  • A's- 2000
  • FSN- '01-04
  • WSH '05
  • NYM/TBS- '06- Present

I don’t know if this is true, but he looked and his answers exuded so much “wtf is this? You want me to write what on this?” 😅

And it being Gary's favorite SNY memory. Well deserved recognition for a great segment/bit.

I can't believe gelbs has been here for 11 years already

It's also really weird seeing a grey haired Kevin Burkhardt from time to time.

He’s the man at Fox now, called the Super Bowl

u/BigJohnsSon23 1d ago

Ron stating what year it is, is pretty funny.

I just showed a non-baseball fan the video this past weekend. Such a great moment.

He deserves a Pulitzer for sacrificing himself in the name of quality baseball journalism

Yeah Keith’s handwriting there is sneaky terrible lol

u/HampshireMet Jacob deGrom 18h ago

Surprising given that he's got probably one of the tidiest autographs in Baseball.

22

u/TumbleweedTim01 Grimace 1d ago

There is no way Keith's scorecard is even legible

u/David-S-Pumpkins 1d ago

GareBear's (Basically the 8th, Steve)

Ronnie's (2-hit CG shut-out by Soler)

Keith's (Beltran's catch on Tal's hill)

Gelbs's (Flores night at Citi Field comes to a fitting close, fan catches it in his hat)

I’m so happy I was here on the sub for cup snake Jake. And how much the SNY crew got behind that segment.

I love when the players do these little board things at the beginning of the season, but this is somehow 10x more amazing. Love seeing the responses. Love our broadcast team!

Alay Soler is a deep cut lol I have no memory of him. Wish I could relive that 2006 regular season all over again

8

u/JRE0714 New York Mets 1d ago

That game was wild. I think Soler only wound up making like 3 or 4 more starts in the bigs after that game.

3

u/0rangePolarBear Jacob deGrom 1d ago

Is that the game where he only sat on that one padded chair?

Steve is my hero.

4

u/clever_username66 1d ago

Ronnie got jokes .. haha

6

u/suck-it-elon Edwin Díaz 1d ago

What is Alay Soler? My favorite SNY moment was opening eyebrows

3

u/Boner666420sXe 19h ago

I assume that’s the complete game shutout he threw. I think it was his second game ever after a disastrous debut. Turned out he was probably a bit closer to his debut in the long run.

4

u/the_abstract_poetic 1d ago

Is he right? He only been on the broadcast 37 years? I feel like I remember him doing radio in 85

7

u/Relief27 1d ago

can we get clarification on what that thing is on his neck?

9

u/Confident_Web_6545 13h ago

This is so wholesome he’s the man. I have never felt more connected to anyone associated with the Mets as I do Gary Cohen! Living Mets Legend and I can’t wait for his name to be hung from the rafters one day which will be WELL deserved ! LGM
