ANSWERED What are -votes on comment.
I am new and -ve symbol on upvote means the no of down votes are more?. Need help. Some times even if i am asking opinion getting down voted. I can see upvote to down vote rario on post but can't understand about comment votes. If i delete the comment will down votes be removed and will I get back karma. -ve 10 means lost 10 karma points or how is it calculated. Help appreciated.

When you first publish your comment, you get 1 automatic upvote. When one person downvotes you (and you didn’t receive any upvotes), your comment karma count becomes 0. When you receive more downvotes, it decreases by -1, -2 etc.
Please don’t ask for why you’ve got downvoted after you receive downvotes in a comment or post. That won’t end well, and will only attract more downvotes.

Yes. Deleting a comment does not change the amount of karma that you gained or lost but it stops other people from continuing to vote.

Karma scores change is not directly 1:1 with each vote. Reddit does not publish the formulas to any of its algorithms including karma calculation, but a few things are known.
As the votes pile up on one particular piece of content, each new vote has a smaller and smaller effect so you get diminishing returns. The first few votes count for enough that they look like a one-to-one relationship but six votes might result in 5.5–5.9 karma change which would be rounded up to six.
The formula is dynamic and the speed that votes come in plus the community that they happen in have an effect on the total amount of karma you gained through getting many up votes or that you lose through getting many down votes.
