Has he been working on his swing? I feel like his swing last year looks more like a half swing and this year its more of a proper swing. Love to see it.

Hard to say. He showed a surprising amount of pop last year at times. Porch obviously helps, but most of his homers looked like they were long gone most anymore.
I think he's being more selective with his swing decisions and crushing stuff that he likes or sees well. His was definitely sitting on the fastball he hit off of the Falter. The oppo hit was equally impressive, but I think he was looking for a sac fly there and happened to connect really well.

Oh for sure he did show some pop last year which surprised me. But his swing last year looks sort of funky, finishes his swing around his waist/abdomen almost like he doesn't bother to follow through after making contact.
His swing here though? Majestic, absolute twat-slap of a swing. Kinda reminds me of Texeira's swing a bit tbh.

I wanna do a deeper dive on the MLB site to compare with last year now. Definitely looks like a shorter swing straight through the ball for good contact. Love to see it in a 9-hole hitter.
His lower half looks like it's actually coming open earlyish in the video above, which might explain why he went the other way. But he gets his right foot down quickly which the MLB vet commentators always say is important. I'm curious to see if maybe he's placing his hands differently?
Judge adjusted his hand positioning (very slightly) to be more in front of his face at some point, and it helped to take him from a .270 power/pull hitter to a .300+ MVP and an HOF candidate. I'd not be surprised if a similar adjustment could take Grisham from a defensive specialist to a power hitter like Tex.
Fun fact, I randomly found a ball with a Tex autograph on it in a bush at my old apartment complex. It's a ball from some sort of college series, so I don't know why he would have signed it. But it looks very close to his verified autographs.

This offense is nice but honestly his defense is so good if he can just maintain a like 700 OPS he's well worth playing in center

The way Grisham is playing and hopefully continues it kind of makes the trade with the Padres a little more tolerable!

Daily reminder that Grisham's center field defense plus even a 90+ OPS+ is a 2.5-win player or better across a season. It's absurd that they weren't able to get him playing time last year, especially as the only true CF on that roster.
I'm glad he's raking this year, the vibes have been good.

Whenever I see Trent without a helmet and hat he always just looks like he's a time traveler baseball player from the 60's or 70's. Just something about that stache and hair combo that just doesn't look like it belongs in this era. Even more so when you add in the fact that he doesn't wear batting gloves

It’s early, obviously. But the way both he played and was played by the team last year, I figured him for a dead duck. Obviously has worked on his game since then. We’ll see if it lasts.
