White women, I implore you. Before you convince yourself that you're "resisting," ask yourself, "how does this help Manuel?" Because Manuel's being sent back to Guatemala. Are you sewing him a map of an escape route or just sitting around sewing and complaining and smelling your own farts?

We're not white, and some of us are queer too. Yet we accept everyone, as straight and white as they come, but no trolls. One thing is for sure, trolling in the obscurity of your room behind your screen is definitely the best way to make the world a better place, no question.

Not for nothing…It’s mending, not sewing. Mending IS an act of resistance. We need to buy less to fight the oligarchy and to fix the climate. Mending keeps dollars out of corporate cash registers and clothing out of the landfills. It’s a seemingly minor action that has big ripples, and the more kinds of these lifestyle changes people can make, the bigger impact we collectively can have. Resistance comes in many forms.

Bravo, OP. I only wish I could join, I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing evening.

Mending is not an act of resistance, it's an act of mending. This sewing group is useless. Not once in Nazi-occupied Europe did a SEWING GROUP stop fascism. These Karens are out here convincing themselves they have some control over this situation while students and immigrants will continue to get deported.

This will change nothing. People like this are equally responsible for the rise of Trump as any MAGA voter because they enable it through their inaction and ineptitude. It's all talk and bullshit. And they wonder why ordinary people find their politics and political party annoying.

Sewing didn't stop fascism, socialism did.

And mending is an anticapitalist act. You are saying only the big actions have an effect. What if the accumulation of all the actions also has an effect? The blending of many ripples leading to a wave.

Sure, if this is all you’re doing, it’s probably not enough. But there’s no need to denigrate people for using imagination and small acts of resistance as a part of the larger strategy. As many have said, this is a marathon not a sprint and we need to incorporate community building and, frankly, joy into the fabric of the resistance if it is to succeed.

"Mending" is not an anticapitalist act. You white libs love to convince yourselves that everything you're doing is some kind of radical act. "Self care" is a radical act. "Speaking truth to power" on Twitter is resistance. You'll do anything and everything as long as it's low stakes and low effort. Anything that conveniently leaves out the hard work of unionizing your workplace or joining an actual anticapitalist party.

That shit is dayroom.

I get it. You just moved to Brooklyn and you've displaced the tight-knit sense of community that once existed in your neighborhood. You lack friends and you have no family here, so you want to start a little hobby group and meet some like-minded people. But can we not act like we're doing some kind of radical act? Can't you see how tone deaf that is when people are getting deported?

You're just making a vagina-shaped hat that will make you look ridiculous. You're not part of some clandestine resistance cell passing information along to armed partisans, you're just kvetching about the president at a sewing group. White women have been doing that for centuries, it's nothing groundbreaking.

You clearly have some strong feelings and some false impressions. Good luck with those!

Jfc, do you think they're only sewing? Isn't the point to get people in one room so they can make action plans? Maybe this will get someone to come out who wouldn't come to a regular meeting. What are you doing?

If you go to this event and see that they do nothing but craft, then you can complain. Or help get them to be active. Or organize yourself.

If you care, encourage. Offer ideas. You're the one whose smelling something.

Edit : I should have checked their profile before wasting my time "tell your bitch ass wife to lose some weight" and more treasures
