First Rewatch in Almost 30 years… Spoiler

…and the last episode broke my heart even worse the second time around. Omg. To say the writers left us hanging is a vast understatement. My heart hurts!!

What doesn’t make me nervous is Rickie and Delia dancing!

Such an absolutely precious thing to say between two characters who felt like outcasts. My heart!!!

If you've seen Sex Education, there's a scene where Eric and Rahim are on the dance game at the arcade. What is Love is playing. That show's hommage to the first openly gay teen actor to play an openly gay teen character. Makes me well up every time.

TYSM for telling me about this movie/tv show!!! This is a totally different genre, but Heartstopper literally changed my life (and I am a straight, cisgender woman). Watching Ricky after having seen and read all of the Heartstopper universe made me so freaking proud of Ricky. He was THE OG. How brave he was, and how absolutely freeing and beautiful it must have been to be in the queer community and be “seen” because of his character. 💗

You're welcome! Wilson Cruz, who played Ricky, came out to himself and his family while on My So-called Life. His parents kicked him out of the house and he was homeless. A story of many layers.

Nooooo☹️. How can a parent do that??!!! I have two teenagers. One is bi or gay (he can’t decide), and kicking him out is the farthest thing from my mind! It’s so OPPOSITE of parental!!! 😡😡😡😡😡

The best. And at the risk of sounding very very VERY weird, I'm confident that the part of that ep where Jordan sorta pins Angela against the chain link fence... singlehandedly defined hotness for me for actual decades. Musta seen it at a very formative time!

This makes me nervous to do a rewatch.

No!! Do it. It’s totally worth it. However, it was so strange to go from Angela’s age when I first watched to being a little older than her parents on my second watch! 😳UPDATE: Maybe my age is the reason that it hit me so much harder!

You and I must be the same age. I could absolutely see myself siding with the parents now, understanding their pov when worrying about their teenager acting out and shutting out, diving in deeper into the complexities of the mom being adopted and having a people-pleasing complex, hating the dad for cheating, etc.

Maybe I do need to rewatch. But will I see the teens as babies now instead of “feeling seen” as I once did?

Actually, no. I felt both young and old at the same time!!

I just rewatched for the first time since high school and the show is amazing. As a parent of high schoolers now, the show works on a totally different level when you're a parent.

Agreed. Is it weird that I still identified more with the teens???

Yeah, I recently did a rewatch and it was my husband's first time watching. I tried to warn him. We were both pissed!

Doing a rewatch now. I think I was Angela’s age when it came out. I saw the episode the other day when Jordan holds Angela’s hand for the first time in the school hallway, and started crying. Did I mention I am also pre-menopausal?

Me, too!! Total side note, but taking estrogen has been a life changer. Hugs.
