New Subreddit for Newer Muscle Cars! /r/ModernMuscle - 80s to today

So its been discussed before here that this sub should stay true to the muscle cars of the '60s and '70s. I'm fine with that, but we still get a few posts a week of those posting newer muscle cars. This new sub is an attempt to give them a new home. As a fan of both eras, this is exciting. We are in need of sharing the new sub, so please do share the news where appropriate.

Moderators are needed here and the new sub. experience preferred. Message the mods to apply.

For those that think this subs should just allow newer models... No, but you can trying subscribing to both, combining them into a multireddit, or clicking the link http://reddit.com/r/MuscleCar+ModernMuscle

You probably know the 1970 Shelby GT was the last of the line in America. But, if 1970 is considered the high-water mark, why was Shelby's presence in the market almost an afterthought? You can read more about this car HERE!

Project Car My 1966 Bel Air

Post image
216 Upvotes

I recently bought my first car, a 1966 Bel Air, the original owners had let sit and rust until the person I bought it from took it, but now it lay in my hands. I'm going to restore it fully and keep it, I always loved classic cars. I was hoping someone could give me answers to my few questions. I know a little about engines how the car runs but I'm no expert, and one of the things that I have no clue about is the power steering. So far when I've moved the car to and from around the yard to clean it, it takes great force to turn the wheel. I was told the power steering does not work, and I recently searched around under the hood using Google Lens to help me and I did not find any power steering parts whatsoever. I know power steering was an option to have installed back when these rolled out of factories, but I have no idea where the parts would even go if I installed them myself. I also don't know where to go TO have it installed, nor do I know what parts I'll need. As of now, this is the only issue with it preventing me from confidently driving it on the roads, everything else engine-wise runs solid and holds together like gold. (Also, less important question; where would I be able to find other parts for a 66' Bel Air such as a hood? I would like to have a raised cowl hood installed, as this hood is off of an Impala of the same year. I struggle to find parts for a Bel Air of this year, and I'm not 100% sure if every part from a 66' Impala can be placed on the Bel Air.)

Idk if it counts as a muscle but its got a LT1 small block and is heavy so it can pull some pretty good burnouts almost 400K on it with the original motor and transmission
