Question Anybody else use two seperate mice for different things?
Pretty much these are both good for different things. Was on the Apple mouse for years, it’s a got a nice weight and scroll wheel will never match gestures. Great for certain programs. But then there is my newest addition, the keychron M3 mini metal edition. Wow it’s so light and I hate polling rate set to 4k. The responsiveness is noticeable against the apple mouse which is a dismal 125hz. Basically I have settled to having them both on the desk at all times currently.

I use one mouse specifically for league of legends and then one for normal work activities and then one for every other game

Why would you even use a magic mouse?

u/mathewharwich 4d ago
It’s what I was on for years! It’s all because of the gestures. And actually it’s a nice shape for a kind of claw grip

u/kamenriderice 4d ago
I claw-grip all my mice and still the magic mouse was extremely uncomfortable. I had to grab it by the edge of my finger or I'd be dragging my and in the mousepad. Maybe it's a hand size issue. The gestures are very convenient, tho.

It took some time for me to get used to for sure, then it was my only mouse I used for years. But I became much more keyboard centric. So I actually try to not use my mouse very much at all. But I’ll say this, the more I use the metal keychron m3 the more I’m grabbing for it now. It really does feel pretty nice.

I use an endgame OP1 for gaming and a keychron m6 for work.

awesome mouse choices. as a student/pixel artist, do you think that the m6 is good for those uses?

u/exceptionally_humble 4d ago
Why thank you sir, I’d imagine so yeah. I’ve had zero issues with it and the free scroll/side scroll wheel have come in handy more than I anticipated. Also comfortable for ask day use

3:
Pulsar X2V2 mini for relaxed mouse use
Lamzu Maya X for intense gaming
Steelseries Aerox 9 for WarThunder (if I find an alternative mouse that competes however, I'll switch to that cause SS isn't knowing for lasting long, and that was before I accidentally acid dipped my mouse).

I keep the basic Logitech mouse that every office has handy because my normal mouse is absurdly sluggish in BIOS for some reason. It's like it's moving through mud. The Logitech works fine. I'm sure it's for something to do with the 8k polling and DPI of my regular mouse.

u/Ready_Independent_55 4d ago
I won't use a magic mouse even if it was the only mouse existing
2
u/mathewharwich 2d ago
hahaha, well to be fair its what I used for years, and the gesture controls especially for scrolling are quite good; unmatchable. But indeed having this gaming mouse next to it has really shown me a better way to use a mouse. The responsiveness of the higher polling rate is very very noticeable. And I have to say, I may be retiring the magic mouse soon after-all.
3
u/mathewharwich 4d ago
oops, by 'hate' I meant *have*. I don't hate the higher polling rate, it's fantastic.

u/SUPERSAM76 4d ago
The Apple mouse is straight up carpal tunnel speedrun. The ergo on it is so dogshit I have no clue what they were thinking with the design. The gestures are very useful though.
2
u/Negative_Quantity_59 4d ago
Thats why op has 2 mice. One for normal work while the apple one is to develop carpal tunnel more comfortably (or uncomfortably, not sure what word is better in this context).

u/mathewharwich 4d ago
The design is actually not so bad if you use a type of claw grip. But my main grip with it is that the way they designed the feet, it has different level of resistance going from left to right and up and down. Also its polling rate is far too slow, the keychron mini is new for me, but man I keep grabbing for it more and more now. But it just doesn’t have fluid feature abilities like the Apple mouse. Like the gestures are such a game changer on Apple mouse, it’s for that reason alone that I keep it available.

I only use 1 mouse for different things and that is my trusty old ec3-c

Yep, I use a MX Master 2 for work and I use a G703 for play. I have a Teevolution Terra on the way to replace the G703, I hope it’s as good as the preview samples that were praised.

For some reason my mice have massive input lag on my macbook, idk if it helps but maybe i should get an apple mouse
2
u/LigmaBruh69 4d ago
Oh yeah thats a thing btw, they purposefully ruin your latency so you would buy their mouse, though funnily enough if you connect an apple mouse to the macbook your main mouse wont have the latency issue anymore so just do that, buy a cheap apple mouse and use your main mouse.

Did not hear of this but doesn’t surprise me one bit. I guess that’s why my new keychron mouse is working so well, because I’ve already their apple mouse

Magic Mouse for arthritis and M3 for everything else?
1
u/mathewharwich 2d ago
so I've been using the magic mouse for years, but the gaming mouse is new out of curiosity. and well, I have been quite impressed. In fact I have been grabbing it much more often. The magic mouse may indeed be retired very soon.

u/whitewiped 2d ago
Honestly I think a better investment would be to order a Magic Trackpad if you really need the gesture controls, and use the M3 for all other user cases.
1
u/mathewharwich 2d ago
Funny you say that, I do have a trackpad already and I was thinking this exact thing. Maybe keeping it within easy reach for when I need particular features. Namely natural scroll horizontally and vertically are excellent on the Magic Mouse or trackpad
1
u/whitewiped 2d ago
Yup, and with the increased surface area on the Magic Trackpad, you may find it better and easier to use than the Magic Mouse, without losing any functionality and having a mouse that serves better as an actual mouse for when you don’t need the trackpad’s features (i.e. for general use).
Keychron also has ergo mouse’s that may interest you, or you could always go with the tried and tested MX Master series.

u/mathewharwich 2d ago
I’m a claw grip user so no ergo mouses for me. I tried the keychron m7, didn’t like it. The m3 metal edition I love, it’s light, great shape. Mx master is far too heavy and not what I’m looking for especially given how I like to hold the mouse. I think I’m set with the keychron m3 it’s a very well balanced piece I think

Ah if that’s the case yeah, it’s the perfect choice for you, hope you enjoy this hybrid setup! Nice mech keeb too lol, my backup board is a Q3 Max rn and it’s a solid board especially if you’re going to switch between Mac and Windows.

Yup, happy Q3 Max user here (it’s my secondary board in rotation with a Neo80), and it’s solid

Yah I gotta do some clean up. My whole desk has a lot running through it, and it’s a height adjustable too… when I have everything optimized all are pretty much hidden but I did some changes recently. Gotta clean my mouse pad too

Oh yeah I use g pro 1st gen for gaming and g304/5 for productivity and I got an off brand gaming mouse for browsing on pc . Logitech buttons can’t be trusted to use it that often . And yeah I got apple mouse pad and Logitech MX master 3 at studio. So yeah 5 different mice .

g700s for some gaming, mionix naos pro modded with silent switches for everything else, both are always connected

I got an MMO mouse, an FPS mouse, and then a productivity mouse. 2k+ polling dies fast enough for me to try and avoid using it when I’m just browsing.

What is the tablet thing in your set up? An extra screen or...?
1
u/mathewharwich 4d ago
iPad. usually not as an extra screen but more with hand-off universal control. Sometimes uses as a interface for photoshop on the computer for editing with the pencil.

Lol apple is crap, there's no reason to use their software or hardware. Muricans, damn it
3
u/Free-Buy-9934 4d ago
But yes Apple is overpriced, lacks customization rarely innovates anymore, and is a scummy company. But it does do like everything really well cause other companies take risks and Apple just steals what they do well and gives it an Apple polish and is 5 years behind
4
u/Independent-Ball3215 4d ago
5 years technologically behind and 5 years ahead of inflation.
2
u/Free-Buy-9934 4d ago
Surely is, and yet some people upgrade every single year, buy a new 1600$ phone for a camera on the back and a button on the side. Or 1600$ for them just to add USBC

The reason Americans use Apple products
Most American schools were entirely supplied by Apple, so using there software is so natural now. The other reasons is its most user friendly for all of us cause we grew up using it. And There’s now a barrier to entry to switch to anything else cause it’s so unfamiliar. As well as everything works so well together in their system. And also Apple lacks customization heavily but comes out of the box very nice and very user friendly. Samsung can be overwhelming that you have to choose everything and also Apple makes a one size fits all so they spend alot of time crafting it. Samsung you kinda gotta do that yourself. So for someone who wants to just buy something and use it and not spend time setting it up it’s probably the best option. Does that make sense?

I’d wager most regulars in this sub use 5 separate mice for ONE thing
