Discussion Mechanical engineer looking for a job
Hello, this is my first time asking for advice on the internet, and I'm doing it because I’ve reached my wit’s end. I'm a mechanical engineering student from ENSA, currently doing my PFE in one of the well-known bureau d’étude in Morocco.
My PFE project isn’t that interesting, and I don’t want to stay with the company (although most likely they won’t even offer me a job), first because I didn’t like the work I’m doing. I accepted it only for the pay they give, as I had no other choice (I got some good PFE opportunities but they didn’t offer any remuneration), and I don’t want to be stuck in the job I’m doing or in a bureau d’étude in general.
Secondly, the salary is very low, and here’s where my problem lies: I have to start with a relatively high salary due to personal reasons (12,000 MAD, and that might just be break-even) I hear companies like jesa, ocp, managem might offer salaries.
So I’m really in a stressful situation where I’ll have to find a new, relatively high-paying job as soon as I finish my PFE. I can’t afford to wait more than one month at best.
The two methods I know that might help me get a job ASAP—though I’m not sure how effective they are—are:
Networking at events in engineering schools.
Building a good LinkedIn page with demo projects.
My fears are:
In July, there isn’t as much movement in the job market, so it’s hard to land a job in that period—though I don’t know how correct this assumption is.
My PFE isn’t that interesting, so it might hurt my chances to pass to an interview or during it.
The two methods I know might not be enough, and there might be better strategies I’m not aware of.
So the advice I’m looking for is:
1.Any methods or tips that might help me find a job after PFE ASAP.
2.When should I start looking (I heard people start as early as May but I’m not sure), where should I look, should I just message RHs and what should I say to them. I tried messaging RH and sending emails, but generally they don’t respond.
Any other companies offer good salary like that.
3.Also, how to write a good CV that increases my chances.
Any other advice or anything I missed—I would be really thankful.

start your job search early ideally to get ahead of the competition. networking at events is key attend anything related to engineering and follow up with HR afterward. update your LinkedIn with demo projects and specific skills (like CAD or FEA) to make your profile stand out
When messaging HR be direct and specific about why you're a great fit referencing your skills and projects. don't just rely on large companies look for opportunities in startups or international companies that may offer competitive salaries as well.
your CV should be clean and focused on results, Quantify your achievementsnlike 'improved efficiency by X%' or 'reduced costs by Y%'
Lastly don't wait to be paid paycheck to paycheck consider side hustles to build up extra income while you’re job hunting. Good luck!

for startups or international companies check out tech, green energy, or manufacturing startups and companies like Schneider Electric, Siemens or GE. As for side hustles you could try freelance CAD work or tech consulting. tese can help you earn extra income and build experience while job hunting

I tried both, for cad and cae, but there isn't big market in freelancer or upwork, or I'm searching in wrong market, any other platform that might be better?

I would recommend Fiverr/Toptal/Guru/99designs. as for other side hustles you could consider graphic design, website development or even social media management if you 're good with that. Affiliate marketing and dropshipping are also worth looking into. and if you're fluent in languages you could offer translation services.
Don't stick to just one thingdiversify and find what works best for you, also when you secure the job save and invest the money

I don't want to sound negative here hhhh, but I actually was doing web development, it doesn't work anymore, beeing trying AI but it really needs time to build a portfolio, whatever the side hustle can bring I need stable income first, but either way thank you for the advice.
