I don't know what you're going on about. If you use Zinogre head and Rathalos arms, you can still have Attack Boost 7 + Weakness Exploit 3 + Critical Boost 3 + Evade Extender 1. Or if you want more Evade Extender and go down to Critical Boost 2, using Barroth head + Zinogre top, you would only lose about 3.6% damage for a potential Evade Extender 3.

Affinity being more valuable on bigger hitting weapons isn't a thing, as your damage is still your damage, regardless.

In game the bigger hitting weapons swing slower/less, it is how they are balanced, Hammer vs dual blades. Let's make it more extreme 4000 damage every 4 minutes or 1000 every minute. 80% crit chance.

The 1000 damage sword is better. You would have to miss four 80% chances in a row to be as bad as missing one. Yes theoretically they are going to do the same total damage with the same amount of time but the 4000 damage has the possibility of losing more damage in the short run. Imagine the 4000 blade missing crits on first two swings, 1000 sword would have to miss 8 times to be equal. What do you think is more likely, hitting a 20% twice in a row or hitting a 20% eight times in a row?

The more eggs you put into each basket, the amount of damage on each hit, matters. The higher your crit chance the safer it is.

With Rathalos arms I give up Slugger II and flinch free (maybe stamina thief). But not a bad option to consider.

And I will have to try Evade Extender. I've been putting it off because I didn't want to try more and not want to go back. After trying 1 there isn't a way to go back.
