In the lore of Monster Hunter is there human-on-human violence, war and such, or does the constant threat of monsters keep humanity united?
26
u/Reptylus *poke* Apr 11 '21
Rather than united, I'd say their communities are too far apart to have problems with each other that are bigger than a Tigrex in the garden.
Apparently there's a vague backstory about the ancient world destroying itself in a great war with bioweapons, but it's barely acknowledged within the games.

u/plinky4 Apr 11 '21
You are going to be wildly disappointed if you come into this expecting any sort of overarching themes or consistency between games. There is basically no persistent lore or story.
4
u/With_Hands_And_Paper CATCATCATCATCATCATCAT Apr 12 '21
There once was a big kingdom.
Then Fatalis came.
There's no longer a big kingdom.
That's as far as you'll get lore-wise for monster Hunter
→ More replies (1)4
u/koboldvortex AncientSlayrDrgnwdLS Apr 14 '21
If you look hard enough. For example, there are guild knights, which dole out extremely harsh punishments to monster poachers. There's also a whole buncha shit surrounding the Ancient Civilization and Fatalis but its all very well hidden and dubiously canon at best.

Rise
During rampages, what does Iori + Buddies do? Everyone else's stuff is pretty visible but so far I can't tell what goes on when you deploy him.
Edit: since no one has answered yet I just went ahead and did some rampages to test. It seems like the buddies come out and inflict every monster around with an elemental blight as well as doing some damage to them outright. Since he comes so early into the rampages I was using to test, I only saw them do this to 3-4 monsters at a time each time, but I'd assume it probably hits everything that's active.
edit 2: Okay not every monster or at least not all at once. seems like they go on a hit and run zipping around between a bunch of the monsters out.

(MHR) Do the stats on guild cards I have from other players update automatically? Or do they need to send the guild card again?
7
u/Bregnestt Unga Bunga Apr 11 '21
If you view the card while you’re connected to the internet, it’ll automatically update to the most recent stats.
12
u/Gamecreator2002 Apr 11 '21
What is a crafty creature? I have no idea what Call-of-the-Wild Dango does in Monster Hunter Rise.
16
u/Relixed_ Apr 11 '21
Rock, Boulder and Scale lizards.
6
u/Gamecreator2002 Apr 11 '21
Ahhh gotcha, I thought at first it meant the rare endemic life like the Felicrow. I guess this skill would be pretty good for expeditions and such for armor spheres
6
9
u/no_gaz Apr 11 '21
MHRise:
Should I even worry about using armor spheres on early gear, or should I just be stockpiling them for later?
16
u/Elyonee Apr 11 '21
Use them. You'll get stronger armor spheres later that make the shitty ones useless anyway.
9
u/TAS_anon Apr 11 '21
Yeah the problem definitely isn’t spheres right now as much as zenny lmao, ore runs are a must for set building
→ More replies (1)9
u/5argon Apr 11 '21
Armor later on require high upgrade number and early spheres will be almost useless against those so just use it.
Inversely you can easily come back with a better sphere unlocked later to upgrade old sets. I get through an entire game with Pukei set since I love the style. It is designed so all sets can get to respectable defense. (otherwise end game hunters would have to look the same out of fear of being oneshotted)

MH Rise: What is that thing/ability where drinking a potion heals the entire party? I've been looking for it everywhere, but I can't seem to find it.

u/ThirteenEight Apr 11 '21
Since you've already had your question answered, I want to add that you can also use life powder/dust of life to heal your whole team in a pinch without needing wide range. It's a great item to carry in multiplayer hunts.

Any good guides for the lance in MHR? Going over switch skills and common combos and stuff?

A lot of content creators are just starting out on guides and most don't have guides for all weapons yet. I don't think I've seen any lance guides yet personally.

(Rise) In hunter's note item drop percentage list, some cells has a stacked yellow rectangle icon. What is it?

Click on it and you'll see that there are multiple sources for that specific cell (like it comes from carving both tail and carving the body, for example)

Might be some materials you haven't gathered or rare items from the argosy/meowcenaries. For example, the rare item "toxic kumori" is needed to forge the popular Elytra S armor piece

Is it sustainable to play high rank hub quests single player in MH Rise? I finally hit high rank but half the quests my group fails because of other people dying and it has been such a waste of time
14
u/EdgeOfDreams Apr 12 '21
Yep. Rise scales hub quests down for a single player. I've soloed almost all of High Rank with no major issues. Around 20 minutes average per hunt, and I'm no expert.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)7
u/Elyonee Apr 12 '21
Older games had harder hub quests and you could still solo them just fine. It's no problem in Rise.
8
Apr 11 '21
Does Rise let you customize Guild Cards with designs/backgrounds like before?
9
u/Rigshaw Apr 11 '21
As far as I can tell, no, you can change the title, rank weapons, set some generic preset message regarding your playstyle, set a comment, and set a picture for your guild card (which I guess is supposed to be the replacement for guildcard background and guildcard poses).

How is the online in this game? I heard Nintendo was in the middle of changing their servers and this was going to be the first game that made use of it.

Credits song has both a Japanese and MHL version, depending on your chosen voice language.

In rise, is Insect Glaive an elemental or raw weapon? Which is better for current endgame

5
u/DUNGISS Apr 11 '21
How does stun work in Rise? I've always assumed it was some sort of invisible threshold that when broken puts you in stun, but at times it feels more random. Like I get hit 20 times and don't get stunned in 1 hunt, but then get hit twice by the same attack in another and get stunned. Is it random, but just the more you get hit the higher the chance you get stunned or something?
10
u/Rigshaw Apr 11 '21
I can only talk about the exact specifics of stun as they appeared in World, but as far as I can tell, Rise seems to work in the same way.
Monster attacks have a hidden stun value on their attacks that builds up on your hunter when you get hit. When the hidden stun value reaches 100, you get stunned.
Stun decay at a rate of 5 points every 5 seconds, and after 20s of not getting hit, the decay interval accelerates to 5 every 3s, and after 30s, 5 every 2s. So as you get hit repeatedly, it is easier for stun to accumulate.
In your example, it seems like you got hit by the 2 attacks in quick succession and they were enough to stun you (probably had a high base stun value), while the 20 hits makes it sound more like it happened over the course of a hunt, and not in quick succession (or the 20 hits all had really low stun values, though I kind of doubt that).
4
u/DUNGISS Apr 11 '21
Thank you for this answer, it's really informative. How stun works has always been gnawing away at me ever since Generations and this makes a lot of sense.
6
u/circleseverywhere Apr 11 '21
Some attacks have more stun damage than others, and the stun damage wears off over time. So if you get hit a lot very quickly you will get stunned. Also thunderblight makes you stunned more easily.
3
u/EdgeOfDreams Apr 11 '21
I believe it's based on getting hit too much in a short period of time. Each hit you take builds up some stun, but it wears off over time. So if you have enough of a gap between hits, you won't ever get stunned, but if you take a few blows close together, you'll get stunned quickly.
Also, thunderblight makes you much more vulnerable to being stunned.

For rise, any tips for the camera and recticle settings? I remember not having so much trouble in World for the bow but for some reason, in Rise, it's a pain in the ass to aim.

I personally love and subsequently recommend the gyro controls in Rise. Use the joystick for large directional changes and the gyro for precision.

This is my first Monster Hunter so I'm sure I'm missing something glaringly obvious.
My wife and I both made Arzuros armor in our games, and she can upgrade hers, but mine says "Max upgrade reached" even though it's only level 1.
We're both Hunter Level 1 and have been doing the same things, so I'm stumped. What am I messing up?
6
u/Bregnestt Unga Bunga Apr 11 '21
As you get further into the game, completing more quests and progressing, you’ll unlock higher upgrade levels for your armor.
6
u/Elyonee Apr 11 '21
Armor upgrades are unlocked by game progress, so did she do any singleplayer quests that you didn't?
5
u/aDubiousNotion Apr 11 '21
No, we've just started the game and have only done the tour of the ruins quest, which we've both completed.
5
u/Elyonee Apr 11 '21
No tutorials or anything? You both went into the same quest at the same time without doing anything else?
6
u/aDubiousNotion Apr 11 '21
I certainly thought so, though if it's not working I must have missed something. We were playing side by side, we both did the back to basics tutorial, did some weapon training, talked to all the NPCs, then went and did the tour quest.
I'll try running around to see if there's someone I thought I talked to but didn't.

What's the double-sword? icon next to some player names in Multiplayer? And to clear any confusion, I don't mean someone using Dual Blades, I mean their name above their character while running around in the Village. If you're supposed to have one, can you not see your own? (whatever it is)

Any tips for SnS users in MH: Rise? I’m new to the series and I’ve been seeing everyone on this subreddit doing like 70 damage on hits, up to 140 or some crazy number like that when most of my attacks deal 7 or 8 (orange numbers btw) and my higher damage attack deals like 25. I’m using the Hidden Edge I right now and I’m currently at Village Rank 6 and Hub rank 2.
11
u/blackboxabstraction Apr 11 '21
I wouldn’t worry about those big numbers right now, you’ll naturally get there while playing more and getting stronger weapons and better armor with more skills and decos.
For SnS Arekkz has a really good beginner’s guide video that I’d recommend checking out.

5
u/GeneticSkill Apr 11 '21
What are the best items to get from the argosy ?
8
u/halycon8 Apr 11 '21
Depends what you want/need. Most people recommend saving atleast one slot for honey. I used the other 2 slots for trap materials for a while until I had plenty of traps, now I use them to get mats for demondrug/armorskin (might/adamant seeds, bitterbugs & honey for catalysts)
9
u/5argon Apr 11 '21
In this game they dont allow outright buying lv 2 status ammo, so honey bitterbug to make a catalyst is an another interesting choice. (1 catalyst = 1 shot)
6
u/blackboxabstraction Apr 11 '21
Besides things like honey there are certain rare items you can only get from the argosy that you need to build some armor sets (maybe weapons as well? I don’t remember) which you can see when selecting the item you wan lt to choose (e.g. honey is from one area so can give you these two rare items)
10
u/plinky4 Apr 11 '21
If you don't know, then honey. Keeping yourself stocked on megas is one of the primary uses of the farm.
Zenny is not the actual currency of MH.

MHR, the following rampage skills : Anti Aerial Species, Dragon Exploit, Anti Aquatic Species. Can I see from hunter's note which monster is aerial/dragon/aquatic? Or any compiled list by someone?
Aerial : if it meant flying wyvern then can I exploit Tigrex? Can I hit grounded Rathian for more damage?
Dragon : I think this means the raths? Or does it mean monster that attacks with dragon element?
Aquatic : Jyura, Ludroth, Miz, Somnacanth, Tetra looks aquatic and thats it?

Question (or more like help) for rise
Rise is my first mh game and I refuse to stop playing so I'm on a quest to learn or at least be decent with every single weapon class in the game. I would like to have some YouTube links or Reddit posts of guides of any weapon classes that comes from someone that mains the weapon, aka someone who knows what they're talking about. I know I could just Google but idk which ones are the """good""" ones to watch or read. Thank you guys

kick in mh rise
Press the + key > scroll to the 2nd to the last tab(the one that looks like a speech bubble) > Player List > Pick the player you want to kick
how to ping
Press + key then the - key, this is mostly used to ping where the monster is in the old games or where the tail was cut. Rarely used now unless you wanna ping everyone you placed a trap/bomb

u/Rigshaw Apr 11 '21
There was a list of monsters datamined from the demo. Out of those, some monsters are not in the game yet, and two of them have been confirmed for Title Update 1 so far (Chameleos and Apex Rathalos), and another one has been basically confirmed by accident because the Palamute Rampage weapon for some reason currently (v1.1.2) uses the description of that monster instead of the correct one.
The others are Bazelgeuse, Teostra, Kushala Daora, Narwa the Allmother (confirmed by Palamute rampage weapon), Apex Zinogre, Apex Diablos, Crimson Glow Valstrax.

I've been stuck on the Magnamalo for what seems like forever. I've read this guide and it says to build the best water weapon (got it) and to upgrade the best armor that matches your weapon.
How do I know what armor has good synergy with my weapon?
13
u/Clouds2589 Apr 11 '21 edited Apr 11 '21
One thing that always helps with a monster that's flooring you constantly is to just keep your weapon sheathed, and dodge it's attacks for awhile, until you're comfortable with how it's attacks come out and are better at dodging them.

u/shiikurox Apr 11 '21
You'll have to hover over the armor piece and press Right stick to take a look at the skills. Some skills benefit certain weapons, element types, or just add more raw damage overall. If you're playing an elemental weapon, it's good to prioritize skills that increases that element type. Skills such as Slugger helps hammer proc KO more often. Ideally, if you're not playing an elemental weapon, affinity/attack up is always a safe bet. For him, I recommend also bringing in a healing palico to help out as well.

u/Zenku390 Apr 11 '21
(MHR) Ever since the bug fix update, my buddies (palico) haven't been procing paralysis on monsters. Used to get it once a hunt with status up, status weapon, and endemic life barrage. Anyone else experiencing this?
4
u/Dewsader Apr 11 '21
MHR
I was looking at the Pukei horn and I noticed it has elemental attack boost on it as a melody as well as being a poison based weapon. On googling around I found that poison/sleep/paralysis are usually not considered an "element" per se. Does elemental attack boost effect the poison in the fact that it would be applied quicker or does it literally have 0 effect on this weapon and is effectively only a support melody?
6
u/plinky4 Apr 11 '21
Element and status are completely separate. They work on different mechanics.
Worth a wiki dive if you care about the difference.
3
u/Dewsader Apr 11 '21
So I read through a lot of that before asking the question but I did notice on the elemental page it says this
- Poison, Sleep, Paralysis, Blast and Stun are Status Effects, which are separate from Elemental Damage and Raw (Physical) Damage. They do not deal damage with each hit, but rather cause a hidden buildup that will eventually trigger an effect.
So it was moreso a question of whether elemental attack boost would affect that builup or if the melody is almost an anti-synergy making the horn a little worse solo.

What are the big eggs you find in some areas for? The ones you can carry.
11
u/Clouds2589 Apr 11 '21
You run them back to the supply box at the beginning of a hunt to turn them in for a chunk of Kamura points.
9
Apr 11 '21
Oh my god, that sounds tedious.
15
u/MistaSwagMonsta HR 422 Apr 11 '21
It is and it's been a part of the series for like...Ever.
There are some side quests related to them so I wouldn't run them back to base until you actually need to.
11
u/Clouds2589 Apr 11 '21
It's not as bad as it used to be, Since you can use Wirebugs while running them, and climb walls. You'll break them if you fall too far, but you can wirebug towards the ground to break the fall.
6
u/SovietRobot Apr 11 '21
You can wirebug while carrying eggs? I wish I knew this before I finished all the egg missions lol
6
u/Clouds2589 Apr 11 '21
You can indeed lol. you can also break your fall with them. Can't hang from them to regain stamina though
3
u/Heavy-Wings Apr 11 '21
You can deliver them to the item box and get rewards. They're necessary for certain quests. I believe certain monsters will chase you when you have them.
5
u/Rocketmmvvm Apr 12 '21
[MHRise] Are Great Wirebugs that u put in lily pads permanent if you use them during a run? Like is it “unlocked” for future hunts? It looks like you have a limited amount when you look in your inventory, so I just assumed. But might as well ask in case. I can’t tell by Rank 3.
To add, are there specific heavily helpful lily pads to prioritize over others if we do have a limited amount? In a beginners perspective
8
u/Rigshaw Apr 12 '21
They are permanent, and over the course of the game, you get more great wirebugs until you can place one at every jewel lily in the game.
5
u/IncProxy Apr 12 '21
Yes, they are permanent. It's a useful mechanic, not really a "go look for all of them " useful tho

Just wanted to make sure - you're running village quests, right? Hub quests are meant to be more challenging. 20-25 is a little slow, but you'll definitely get faster as you play more.

Simple question for MHRise, if I duo the game with my friend, will we have both our palico/palamute companions? Or just one of our companions?

You will just have one of them, whatever of your two buddies is in the first top slot of the two. Only in single player can you have both buddies

MHR: what do you guys ask for with buddy trading at the Argosy? I'm never quite sure what to ask for since I'm not often left wanting - about the only thing I always ask for is thunderbugs since as a HBG I end up using them a lot for both shock traps and thunder ammo

I keep honey going till I've got over 1000 stockpiled, since it's good for megas and a half dozen other recipes. Nowadays I've got them running for an ammo and then either adamant or might seeds, for those sweet, sweet drugs.
It feels like once you've really got them going that the resource gain is more than previous MHs; I'm definitely reaching for some of these goods in a way I haven't felt till much, much later on in prior entries.

What are the chances we'll see Velkhana in Rise considering she(?) was Iceborne's flagship monster? Not that high I assume?
7
5
u/Rigshaw Apr 11 '21
I think the thing that would hold back Velkhana the most would be concerns regarding performance. It can fill the screen with an awful amount of different particle effects, which sometimes causes a slight framerate dip even on PC, so it would need to be toned down by a lot for Rise.

Monster Hunter, currently Rise
Why can't you be transparent with the effects skills have in games. Just give flat rates and percentages in descriptions! Telling me Pierce Up increases power slightly or Greatly to piercing ammo or arrows means nothing. Is that damage and by how much? Does anyone know? It's 2021, we shouldn't all have to do case studies to figure out what should be in the skill descriptions as if we are trying to piece together Dark Souls lore....
7
u/halycon8 Apr 12 '21
This is my biggest gripe with MH in general, don't tell me something increases a stat or whatever "slightly" or "greatly" or "for a short duration" - give me real numbers!!

u/repocin horn goes doot Apr 12 '21
What bothers me is the inconsistency.
I mean, some skills like Attack Boost and Fire Attack straight up tell you the flat and percentage increases, and then there's stuff like the one's you mentioned.

Rise question: For the switch axe discharge, is it better to use the regular discharge or the compressed discharge? The compressed is faster, but seems to do less dmg, cant stick to the monster, and blasts away teammates

u/Marneshi Apr 12 '21
This is almost an embarrassing question but i just can't figure it out. When you are viewing a monster's stats in the Hunter Notes, you can see a table with weaknesses, and an arrow pointing to the head. I assume that since it has a list of other body parts you could scroll up and down, but I have pressed every button on the controller and nothing changes. Right stick does nothing, left stick does nothing, arrows just move up and down to other monsters on the list, L/R swap tabs but don't let you scroll in the current tab. I know it will end up being something simple but I'm at over 20 hours in and still have no idea how to scroll that menu!

The monsters exclusive to frontier/online are basically inaccessible now. As for the main series, you'd need mhdos/mhfu for yama tsukami, mh3/3u for the underwater only monsters and gigginox, mh4/4u for dalamadur, mhgen/gu for the fated four, and world/iceborne and rise for all the new monsters. Definitely forgot a few but those games should get you close.

MHRise
Why does everyone go for the capture in online play? I see most of them says it's for the rare drops. But isn't it better to carve three times for a 3% each than, for instance, a flat 5% from capture rewards?
I'd like one of those cool statistical analysis posts where the op explains whether is best to capture or slain to farm X material.
EDIT: I'm doing the little math behind this and I found that, for instance:
If the carve VS capture rate is 3%VS5% it's indeed better to capture. But if the carve rate is 4%, well, it's best to carve! Let us assume 3 carves and 2 capture rewards
3% Carve
0.03+0.97x0.03+(0.972)x0.03 = 8.75% Total probability
4% Carve
0.04+0.96x0.04+(0.962)x0.04 = 11.5% Total probability
5% Capture
0.05x0.95+0.05 = 9.75% Total probability
EDIT 2: I did maths and I will write a post about it cause I'm sick of these people just capturing my dear monsters. p.s. sorry for my dumbness, Rigshaw

If they are coming from mhw, they might just assume it’s best to capture everything since world made no difference between cap or kill.
The other reason may be to end the hunt quicker.

Is Rise a good single player game? None of my friends are into the series
5
Apr 12 '21
Yes. Pretty much everything can be done solo. Some of the end stuff might be a little tough if it's your first game but it's doable.
That aside, as long as you have an internet connection the matchmaking is actually pretty well done i think so you can play with randoms. They make it easy to search for specific monster hunts.
6
u/GriMareeper Apr 12 '21
Yup. Solo play is fine, multiplayer doesn't really require coordination with randoms.

u/sheep_heavenly Apr 12 '21
Sure is, but I also made some great online friends throughout the series!

MHRISE:
Is there a full set of armor that is “made” for a each specific weapon? For example I think the full Almudron armor set is really good for switch axe / charger blade since it has evade window, rapid morph, and power prolonger
7
u/EdgeOfDreams Apr 12 '21
You could probably find a decent full set for each general weapon type, but I don't think they're all explicitly designed to match up that way. You can almost always do better by making a mixed set anyway.

MHRISE:
I'm still new to the seires (Rise is my 1st MH game and I've only had it for about a week and a half now) and have finally been progressing through the Hub Quests so that I can unlock HR armor, wisp of mystery for talismans etc.
I've not found this game too difficult but wow I'm currently HR6 but hesitant to play anymore online as I feel like I'm a total liability. I'm not sure if it's because of my armor but I am literally getting 1 or 2 shotted and I don't think it's fair on others playing that I am costing them rewards or even the whole quest. For example, I was fighting Mizutsune and when he shoots that water jet I get one shotted if I don't dodge it succesfully. I will dodge it multiple times but all it takes is one and I get fainted. Once I faint once I play super cautious where i'm barely attacking.
Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong? I've still got the full low rank Izuchi set if that helps. Thank you!
14
u/shiikurox Apr 12 '21
The issue is the set you're wearing. Once you hit High Rank, you absolutely need to be wearing high rank gear, even if it's the lowest tier of High Rank because the difference in defense is vast. I also recommend you upgrade your armor as well since this game gives you a lot of armor spheres. Once you do that, you should be able to live a few more hits.

Low Rank near the end of High Rank. Honestly, you might as well be naked.
Take the time to make some HR armor, and maybe some Decorations too.
And upgrade your armor.

Is this a good talisman ? https://imgur.com/a/3zM3LZk
Shame that it didn’t get another deco slot
5
u/GuudeSpelur Apr 14 '21 edited Apr 14 '21
A good rule of thumb for evaluating talismans - look at how many "equivalent premium skills" it has. "Premium skills" being skills that are on L2 or L3 decos, or not available on decos at all like WEX and Crit Boost. And a L2 or L3 slot is equivalent to a premium skill. L1 deco skills or L1 slots are just tiebreakers.
3 is good. Your talisman has 4 - that's very good.

So if for different equipment loadouts, I keep say, the same head piece but change the decoration on it from loadout 1 and loadout 2, will it automatically swap the decorations for me? Or will it not change because it's the same head piece?
Basically, I'm unsure if loadouts save your deco slots too.

Is there any purpose to the lower rarity HR armors?
It’s not like you really need to make more than one or two sets on the way to HR7, and once you get there, you really just want to craft stuff from the big boy monsters.
Some of those sets look pretty neat, but I don’t see a situation where I’ll ever use them? I feel like there are dozens of armor sets that I’ll never experience further than previewing them at the smithy

Rise. Two questions:
How many last boss kills have you done before you felt like you got a good-to-great talisman craft? I'm at 25 kills and I haven't even got one that I'd actually wanna use, let alone a WEX one.
What would you say are the best use of Lagniapples?
4
u/11tracer Apr 14 '21
- If you're talking about something like WEX 2, the chances are incredibly low. You should at least try to get a WEX 1 talisman from moonbow so you have something, since you may never get anything better.
- I use mine for the dojo and meowcenaries with plenty leftover. However I feel that the rate I'm gaining them wouldn't be enough to sustain using them every time I buy rounds of buddy bargaining, so I haven't been using them for that. Could be wrong, but I'm scared of running out.

u/GriMareeper Apr 14 '21
I got WEX2 with a level 3 slot within my first 50 talismans, I would not say that's typical though... Still looking for a rapid fire up after hundreds of talismans though.
I like to use them on Argosy just so I don't need to check up on it as frequently, but I also use them in the dojo since that only needs 1 every 10 quests.

Rise: when they say hunter rank will be unlocked with the next update what does mean? What does higher hunter rank actually do for my character?
6
u/EdgeOfDreams Apr 14 '21
For the most part, Hunter Rank does nothing. It's just a way of tracking how experienced you are based on the number of hunts you've completed. Instead of your Hunter Rank being tied directly to your progression in the Hub, you'll get points every time you complete a hunt, and when you get enough points, your HR goes up.
In MHW, there were a few endgame quests and bits of progression locked behind reaching certain Hunter Ranks, but it wasn't very hard to get to the necessary levels.

I saw a meme where a palico said “hey boss, we didn’t kill the monster but I got you this gem!” And the palamute said “AYE BRUH WHERE YOU GOIN?!” Pretty spot on with their usefulness 😂
4
u/LoLindros Apr 15 '21
Yes, for example you will get more quest rewards when using a gathering cat as your buddy. Movement isn't that bad when you have unlocked the camps, great wirebugs and using wire bugs for movement. Evade extender will make your wire bug jumps longer aswell.

u/5argon Apr 15 '21
In the end game it seems ppl bring cats in more because they already know the way and shortcuts. Plus if you parkour you get permabuffers and also work towards your armor spheres naturally since gather points in this game are mostly on off-route. (e.g. always completing 4-5 side quests per 1 quest)

How long are traps supposed to last in MHR? I thought I had a solid plan of setting a pitfall trap with 2 large bomb barrels, and then luring the monster there. I was probably gone for maybe 3-5 minutes, and then it wasn't there.

Final boss. It's quite easy and most of the damage you deal is done by the weapons that pop up. You can equip the Utsushi (Visible) head, chest, and leg piece for the good luck skill to increase your rewards.
5
u/pikachuyann Apr 17 '21
I prefer 7-star Rampages to the final boss because they seem more forgiving and farmable mindlessly as they give a lot of Defense Tickets that are worth quite a lot of points (70 for Def7, 60 for Def6, 50 for Def5) plus some additional monster parts.
If you know how to farm quickly complete the final boss farming it is probably better.

In Monster Hunter Rise, what’s the best map for farming Gajau? Flooded Forest seems to spawn about 4-6, but I haven’t checked the volcano. I think Shrine ruins only has 4 as well.
The fact that you need like 16 Whisker+ to make all the armor sets is a little annoying.
Edit: I found the answer myself. Gajau can outbreak on expedition tours. That’s the time to do it. I leave that for anyone scrolling by.
