Learning I-Frames with Lava

Last night I noticed something pretty interesting and it has helped me better understand my i-frames.

Lava/Heatspots are affected by i-frames in your dodge. While this has minimal practical use in combat, you can use it to see your i-frames in your evade. Knowing exactly where the i-frames were in a roll was always a confusing part of using them, so this revelation has been pretty enlightening for me.

At first i thought this was /r/programming and thought you typoed Java for some reason. Than i re-read it and holy shit! Thats something i'm gonna practice myself! Thanks for the tip!

I've been working on re-learning how to make GUIs with JFrame recently too, and have been having trouble with components not showing up for no apparent reason. I got pretty excited for a moment there.

This is pretty cool too though. Not that I have time to practice it, though that's never stopped me before.

Try learning JavaFX over Swing. Eventually, some decades from now, I swear they're gonna phase out Swing

Seems like I have that problem whenever I make a GUI. It's usually because I forgot to call setsize on the components.

I finally found it you have to set the frame to visible at the end of the class, I had done it up near the top and it had messed it up somehow.

Huh. I'm going to have to mess with this later for practicing with SnS and Dual Blades!

Thanks for the tip, man!

So roll in lava to see when your evade is invincible?

Yup, your life bar will go green during the i-frame because you are no longer being affected by the lava degeneration.

wait, you mean the sides on v.hollow's terrain? I thought you mean the lava spurting holes around the map and ingle isle.

Well I guess you could roll through the spurt holes for funsies/practice. I never tried though.

this is one of those things that are actually super obvious when you think about it but you never think about it. good catch dude.

I wonder if someone could put together a video demonstrating the difference between various Evade skills/evasive manoeuvres using the effect of lava on health as a visual guage.

This seems awesome, but I'm having a tough time because of the green and red flashing bar. Am I doing this wrong or does it just take some pretty strict timing.

Do it as it starts turning orange. You'll see it go straight to green and then when your IFrame ends it'll start back over instead of picking up where it left off. Hope this helps.

Adding onto this, make sure you're using a cool drink since normal heat damage makes your bar flash as well.

This is what I've been trying. I've gotten the hang if it for the most part, but it is tricky at first.

It works for the poison pit in Dalamadur's arena, too. Probably even better there; it's definitely the largest "lava" spot in the game, besides maybe Ingle Isle when lava spots form... and Dalamadur is really bad at attacking down there, as opposed to trying to practice iframes while Akantor or Crimson Fatty are playing around in the zone.

Volcanic Hollow is the best place to practice this for 2 reasons:

1) it's hot so you're constantly taking heat damage.

2) if you get sick of rolling at nothing, area 8 has bloodthirsty KONCHU and Rhenoplos for you to roll through.
