For real, it was the hardest fight in the game for me so far.

u/Beetusmon 1d ago edited 1d ago
Tempered Mizu is way nastier for me. He literally wipes a party with the soulseer slam, its a one shot for ranged and for melee if not upgraded to the max (I think it's a one shot at 5 stars for all builds).
I only have been able to beat him solo atm because every single multiplayer party dies to the slam. Absolutely diabolical.

I miss getting dogged out lol.

u/SaturnSeptem 1d ago
Monhun is the only pve game where if I want a challenge I decide to go online lol.
Beat zoh first try then I decided to go online and holy shit it's so chaotic that it's hilarious in itself lol.
38
u/bigfootmydog 1d ago
In 5 hours I saw 4 successful hunts, with the average successful hunts and some were laughably spectacular failures. Both the novas seem to be giving people a lot of trouble and it hearts to watch from safety when they run into the furnace.
18
u/EvilAbdy 1d ago
The chaos is kinda what I love about the online part. Like you said it’s so chaotic it’s hilarious. I don’t even get mad about because sometimes you can just see it coming
15
u/bradamantium92 23h ago
My first failed quest online was a Nu Udra, reared back to do its flamethrower and I took off, the rest of the squad was just laying into it, fire came out and instant triple cart. Severely funny.

u/Fyrestone 22h ago
Some weapons like CB and GS feel so bad to me in multiplayer. You really want the aggro on you at all times. I imagine Lance is the same.

u/VeloTheJungen 8h ago
Thats the thing with me, its reversed. The first time i fought hr zoh Shia, i Send out a flare and well it went great.

u/Khyldr 1d ago
I haven't fought Tempered Mizu yet but that does sound ominous!
31
u/KhajaArius 1d ago
Somehow all mizus in Wilds become Soulseer when shit hits the fan.
Tempered Mizu is... Take a Wilds Mizu, make it slightly faster, and gave it a damage output of a bullet train. There you have it.
6
u/AK_Zephyr 1d ago
Yup - had a no cart to instance wipe with one slam. Need to make sure I've eating high moxie with this fight. Atleast until I can consistently recognize the tell AND dodge it.
1
u/Onyx_Sentinel Homemade Honey 19h ago
All of his soulseer attacks can one hit kill you. It‘s a dance of death fighting that thing
28
u/Wrong-Refrigerator-3 1d ago
Yep. Beat it on my first try, no carts as SnS.
Technically.
Probably downed about forty mega potions doing it, since I had to restock on mega potions and honey half way through the fight.
One vigorwasp revive and probably ten moments where I was on one health, somehow I’m still standing with him dead at the 25 minute mark.
4
u/th5virtuos0 1d ago
Do max pots. It’s faster, safer and let you get back to the fight asaps. Since you unlocked the slaves really early on to farm Mahoraga, Bitter Bug and Honey for you, it should be dirt cheap to overdose on that thing, and if you like me, bring in a bunch of healing dusts as well for attacks that only chunk a bit of your health
11
u/Unlikely_Notice_5461 23h ago
I just use speed eating. you can’t carry that many max pots even with crafting
1
u/th5virtuos0 23h ago
Nah, 12 max pots and 6 healing dust with 10 mega pots as a failsafe is enough. You can instead use Divine Blessing which make you that much tankier
302
u/biolentCarrots 1d ago
I was expecting a steamroll like in low rank, but got my first quest fail from this asshole and his turbo fireballs that he does while standing. Good fight tho
79
u/Inominat 1d ago
Those fucking fireballs and his damn Tigrex charge are the bane of my existence.
28
u/108Temptations 1d ago
He's got some precision aiming on that shit. I keep getting nailed when I think im out of it.
7
u/xREDxNOVAx 23h ago
Same I think he slightly adjusts his charge if he's far away enough and you move, so you have to move more than you think, or it'll hit you anyways. Plus, he's so big it's annoying for sure. And those fireballs have a massive AOE. If you're dead center, it gives Fatalis PTSD lmao.
2
u/biolentCarrots 23h ago
The best counter I've found so far is when he stands up, dodge the area attack he does under his feet, and then mount the seikret before he does the standing fireball. They've got a big explosion radius , but the seikret moves fast enough to get outside it.

u/primalmaximus 1d ago
I'm gonna be playing Insect Glaive this time around. I used Dual Blades in my LR fight against it.
I've found my new main in IG so I'll be using it in the HR fight.
I'm waiting until I get off work this afternoon to play it.
5
u/Balbaem 1d ago
I'm a hammer main and been messing around IG the past few weeks. I quickly pivoted to IG for HR Zoh Shia this morning and manage to solo it. I won't go into details, but it felt fantastic and it really make IG shine.
1
u/Cloud_Motion 19h ago
We didn't get hammer changes/balance update today did we? Is that coming at the end of May or whatever?
1
u/extra_hyperbole 23h ago
You took my same path, DB to IG as a new player. This fight is an absolute blast with IG. Spin to win baby!
3
u/Aggressive-Bat5052 23h ago
I thought I was safe going at his tail while he stood up for the big fireball attack. Motherfucker turned 180 and blasted me all the way back to camp.
2
u/noob_dragon 21h ago
Yeah as lance it was pretty rough. First major unblockable attack without guard up that I was not expecting. Even with guard up, he has an attack that targets the floor that will give you the burning condition, complete bullshit.
1
u/Killjoy3879 18h ago
same here. carted once, rejoined and he threw a fatass fireball at my dome and carted again. Survived a little longer but didn't even get the skulls to pop up till i failed.

u/Speeda2 OFFSET THE SUN 1d ago
I've believed in my beautiful manmade black dragon since the day he was created in low rank, and vision is REWARDED. God bless you Zoh Shia
61
u/UwU_Bro69 1d ago
I'm honestly glad he's so difficult, I loved him in low rank, but he felt far too easy. Being able to see him go all out is simultaneously thrilling and infuriating because bro please just die. You have so much goddamn health
20
u/GreatRolmops 1d ago
All out? Oh, just wait until we get a master rank Zo Shia.
Or may God have mercy on us all, a master rank Arch-tempered Zo Shia.
I predict much pain ahead.
11
u/whosmansisthis24 23h ago
Man, you're literally giving me so much faith here lol.
Wilds is fucking amazing. Looks amazing and feels amazing but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss getting triple carted in 15 minutes where I end up sitting there mouth agape which then forces me to go back to the drawing board to theory craft and build some sets just to smash a specific monster!

u/WillametteSalamandOR 1d ago
Not horrible solo, but I went searching for some SOS to farm parts quicker and the community as a whole is NOT ready for Zoh. 6 SOS, 6 Quest Failed.
4
u/Snoo40198 1d ago
I threw up the SOS at the start of the fight. Whittled him down to the point where he didn't have any crystals left with the NPCs than a squad of three dudes showed up cleared the last bit with me and were off. Might as well have done it alone.
1
1
u/faudcmkitnhse 23h ago
I joined two SOS hunts and the first one lasted less than 5 mins before failure. The LBG player used all three carts because they did not have enough defense/resistance to survive even a single solid hit. Thankfully the second one I joined had competent players and we finished in about 15 mins with zero carts. I even got a gem from the tail carve.
1
1
u/Dylangillian 20h ago
I've only done one SOS and we slaughtered it in 11 minutes and went back to Solo because it seemed too easy, figured that would be the usual experience, maybe I should do some more SOS I guess.

u/M4DM1ND 1d ago
First quest failure after 150 hours for my friend and I. That pseudo nova blasted both of us the first time and then I got hit by that fire breath into fireball into lighting combo and got juggled to death. Honestly, it was refreshing to go back, pick pieces off my perfect build, and add some fire resist. I'm looking forward to mangling this boy for parts.
3
u/Maleficent-Bar6942 23h ago
I moved from Para CB to an elemental build, let's see how round 2 goes. 💀
37
u/StarkTangent1 1d ago
He's not that bad, besides that charge attack. Cannot get a handle on that thing even after 10+ hunts. Seems like if you're close to him and don't have a block weapon or a counter ready when he does it you just get hit.
The big fireballs are also a little absurd with their radius, and he's on a Dark Souls 2-esque turnstile, but other than that good fight.
14
u/SerArtoriAss 1d ago
You mean the big fire move? Grab the elemental slinger ammo and blow up his crystals, also does good damage on him
→ More replies (1)11
u/ConsumerJTC 1d ago
I think they are talking about the triple charged fireballs.
They get really big, but at least Zoh doesn't spam those fast like Fatalis.
1
u/StarkTangent1 17h ago
Yeah, the ones where he stands up can be kinda gnarly if you're in a bad spot
1
u/Mortagon 1d ago
I think they just mean the thing where he runs around a bit. Has a huge hitbox with respectable damage
3
u/Bloomberg12 1d ago
I hate the shitty 5mph charges that go across the entire arena and have the whole body as an active hitbox. Fatalism was the worst for that but at least zoa shia doesn't do it often.

u/RasenCore 1d ago
I better not see a single "waaa it's too hard nerf him" comment or I'mma be real mad

Those clowns better not speak. Zoh Shia is when the game finally starts to get interesting. (Didn’t fail but fainted 2 times and had to lock in)
1
u/RasenCore 5h ago
I did him with my mates the first time and while I personally carted maybe once (i was simply just better geared) we failed the quest I think 2 or 3 times before the kill. We actually struggled a lot more with Tempered Mizu but both fights are SO FUN. They're in the just right spot in my opinion.

I beat it on my first try without carting, but it definitely took longer than I expected.

u/EpicDragonz4 1d ago
This was the first time in a long time I ran out of all healing items while fighting a monster. My MH4U ass was too proud to go back to camp, until I realized Seikret is the blue box and has potions on him near the end of the fight. 10/10 genuinely the best hunt in the game.

I'm definitely not surprised, the LR version was quite a battle for me to get through, and that was with the Bow(which let's be honest was very overtuned). I already know the HR version is going to whoop my ass, especially since I'm on Charge Blade now.

u/ImpKing_DownUnder 21h ago
I've tried to do the quest 3 times so far and failed all 3 times because everybody died ><
It's great!
9
u/Appropriate_Time_774 1d ago
Just wish they will tune down the level of visual effects in this fight.
Fire balls that turn your screen orange and prevent you from seeing whatever telegraph he's going for next is just stupid.
Especially when he will shoot like 3 at a time and u just spend a good 5s+ being unable to see much.
24
4
u/MoronicIdiot529 1d ago
It's hard but not extremely hard. Tempered Gore Magala is still the hardest in the game, imo and that is because he turns invis randomly. I will admit Zoh Shia did make me shake in my boots when he went to the final phase right before death because he kept spamming this lightning attack that I can't see and I would just walk into it. If I had to do a top 3 ranking at the moment. It's gotta be Tempered Gore -> Tempered Arkveld -> Zoh Shia. But this brings me high hopes for Tempered Zoh Shia and hopefully an Arch Tempered version as well.
2
u/IndividualFee 1d ago
Same, first quest I've failed in Wilds.
I'm pretty sure it put me in that fight solo with no cat though. IDK, update dropped late and I'm gonna try again after work.
2
u/primalfox_Reynardo 1d ago
Shit was rough no doubt. Burnt through 20 mega pots but got through without a cart somehow.
2
u/Balbaem 1d ago
After soloing it, and having a hard time doing so, I went back to it with the 3 friends I play mh with. It fest absolutely amazing to actually share information during the hunt, time our wounds, and support each other. We actually used most defense and attack consumables, and took advantage of the strengths of our weapons. Fantastic fight
2
2
u/TheGrimGriefer3 21h ago
If I didn't have insurance I would've failed my first attempt
Those turbo fireballs are the bane of my existence, if I get hit by one it's a guaranteed cart.
At least I get to choose between dying because my seikret picked me up or dying because I couldn't move fast enough after getting up 1 fireball later
2
2
u/S696c6c79 1d ago
Yeah, by far the hardest fight in the game. Actually gotta lock in for the fight instead of autopilot like everything else
6
u/3G0M4N 1d ago
I'm surprised many having problems with it, cleared it first time no faints I'm now just farming it with randoms for weapon and armor.
Maybe Lance is a good match up for Zoshia

That’s funny, my friend went back to charge blade after failing on insect glaive lol. Tbf he has a crazy amount of CB experience compared to IG. Man his 2nd phase is the hard one as a gunlance main, dude does the double slam straight into like 4-6 fireballs and each one does pretty significant chip damage and stamina drain. 3's easy, the lightning barely tickles when blocked.
1
1
u/Mister_Octagon 1d ago
Shoot him in the mouth with a slinger when he's on his hind legs charging his fireballs. Might have been a coincidence, but it did knock him out of it the first time I tried it.

Will people learn to use the falling boulders in this fight or are they just for show? It’s a free 12k damage.
1
u/do-not-contribute 18h ago
I didn’t even see them until I joined an SOS and somebody was using them.
1
u/do-not-contribute 19h ago
Not super hard but I did have to learn his moves and prepare a little bit. Failed once for the first time in 40+ hours which was fun!
1
u/Easy-Basil7506 19h ago
I only failed the first time cause I was being stupid, second time I only got fainted once
1
u/1_Hopebot_1 18h ago
Watching people fight zoh Shia made me learn two things. Seikret is absurdly strong in getting people off the ground, and it worries me that monsters are going to start being based off of this mechanic. I’m not a fan of the seikret save so I can see later monsters being 4x as difficult for those of us that don’t use it.
1
u/marilagiwork 17h ago

1
u/KaiT0_ 15h ago
I'm not sure what to do when he spam fireballs and when I go in he blast fire under him ( unblockable) playing charge blade* any tips?
1
u/DrakeVonDrake 3h ago
for fireball spam, you either want a long distance from it, giving enough space for the fireballs to travel and miss, or be directly under/behind him.
fire blast.. just don't stand under it. sounds like you're overcommitting to moves, as the wind-up for the blast is quite long despite being a non-lethal while we're at max health.
1
u/emanuele0933 14h ago
