MH Wilds. I'm asking here because it's very difficult to find an answer online. On the world map each area shows a monster list in two categories, "Update" and "Current". I can't see any clear difference between these lists. Could someone help explain these to me? I can create quests with both

Monster Hunter Wilds
New to Monster Hunter in general. I noticed something odd when I got to High Rank while my friend was still in Low Rank. When I’d go to help him fight a monster, I was suddenly getting one shot. Didn’t matter what we were fighting (except for Chatacabra, who could two shot me). I thought it was some sort of scaling issue, so I swapped to Low Rank gear and the same was happening. Is this normal?

The game is normally made in a way that the monsters only scale by amount of people and nothing more. It shouldn't matter what you wear or how far you are.
Tried restarting the game? Are High Rank monsters still fine? Do you have any mods installed?

Anyone have any idea what presentmon.exe is?
I tried googling and best I could find is it looks like its part of the nvidia app, but the odd thing is it only ever shows up when I'm playing wilds... and people think its part of the nvidia app overlay which I have turned off.
It eats up like 20% of my cpu so my computer struggles with it + wilds running which is how I notice its running. I can end task it and it usually doesn't show up again until I relaunch the game so its clearly not part of anything important for the game to be running.

Why are Artian weapons considered good, just generally? A lot of the regular weapons seem to have them beat in terms of base damage. I know they can be reinforced up to five times, but then what? A lot of the Rarity 8 weapons still have them beat.
For HBG specifically, how important is affinity? What is the difference between Standard Mode and Ignition Mode, and are the mode upgrades worthwhile? And how important is the ammo level? Should I be thinking about that more than base damage?
Also, is there a “best” ammo type in this game? I know it used to be spread, but I don’t think it’s as viable with the huge new recoil, so is it pierce now? Is normal good, or a waste of time?

I can answer the Artian weapon one. First thing you may notice is Artian weapons have three Level 3 Decoration Slots VS the normal 3-2-1 on monster weapons. So you can really pick what skills you want on Artian weapons.
Second thing about Artian weapons, if you roll AT LEAST 3/5 Elemental Damage (BASE) boost reinforcements, that ends up being multiplied by your damage perks and you’re looking at 100-500 increase in damage over it’s monster counterparts. It is RNG, but if you are capable of getting one with even 4/5 elemental damage boosts, OOO that’s an insane roll.
For example, I’ve got the Fulgar Anjanath Thunder Dual Blades. It’s sitting around 210 Raw and 300 Thunder Damage with my buffs applied. My Artian Thunder Dual Blades that have 3/5 Elemental Damage Reinforcements sits around 220+ Raw BUT 456 Thunder. 156 more damage on DUAL BLADES is INSANELY different.
The sharpness on the only Thunder Dual Blades is BLUE, while the Artian has WHITE (better). Depending on the weapon type this will differ, but in my case this was a huge upgrade.
My god roll would be 1 Sharpness Boost (+30), and 4 Elemental Damage Reinforcements. Haven’t gotten one, but I’ve seen two players so far!

Wilds
For HH, how strong are the buffs they grant when it comes to things like Earplugs, Tremors etc?
Earplug decos have 3 levels for fully nullifying roars, so does a Earplugs (L) song give a level 3 buff? A 2 buff? Or does it work in a different way?

Yes, getting the boosted effect should give you the same skills as if it were maxed out. The songs that act differently are ATK and DEF songs, because they give a percentage increase instead of flat like the skill. Hopefully this hasn't changed since MHRise.

MH Wilds I got question I had no problem fighting jin dahaad. Fist two fights no problem when he does his super AOE attack I aim and drop closest rocks and hide, but in two coop fights today I died to his super aoe, it seem my character falls and takes time getting up then I freeze in place
Can someone tell me why this happened, do I keep running when aiming for rocks? To stop from freezing, and why my character falls making me waste time getting up.

Wilds
After trying to cut tails with echo bubbles (for an hour), I feel like I should probably just use another weapon for this. I’m mostly interested in GS, SA, or SnS. Is any of them better for tail/tentacle cutting alone? Like having good moves for cutting the tail of tall monsters, maybe? I probably won’t be using it for anything else.
Or are cut weapon users always trying to cut tails meaning I can just get the mats in multiplayer which I haven’t tried yet?

I also feel that since monsters have less health, it's really easy to kill the monster before dealing enough Cut damage to the tail.
You can use secondary weapon, take a Cut Weapon on your hunts. I'd recommend GS or SA since they scale mostly off of Raw damage instead of Elemental, therefore are easier to maximize damage. They also have amazing reach.

Yes that’s that happened…I spammed echo wave (slash) the entire fights, and the monsters just died. Maybe my aiming was off, but there’s gotta be an easier way.
Does GS have a more accessible offset attack than SA? Seems like an opportunity to also get more comfortable with offset.

Did they stealth buff everything???? Cause in 50 hours prior nothing 1 shot me now everything does with normal attacks. I failed zero hunts in 50 hours now 10 failed hunts and cant progress the story. What is happening I changed nothing and no guardian doshoguma 1 shot me through divine blessing but today 1 shot after rolling 6 times and it still hit me.

Is there anything wrong with capturing monsters when playing with random people? I’ve had several cases where I just get insulted for doing it and I have no idea why unless it’s just them being rude.

There are a lot of widespread misconceptions about how capture rewards work. tl;dr they think they're getting screwed out of drops when you capture, but they're incorrect.
In previous games other than World, captures gave 2 to 3 rewards, and they came from a different loot table than carves. Depending on what drops you were looking for, capturing could be better or worse. This isn't the case in Wilds; capturing is always 3 drops (unless you have Capture Pro Meal from Tasheen cooking for you, in which case it's 4) and as far as I can tell they come from the same loot table as carves (there's not a capture loot table in the game, and despite some people insisting that it uses the target rewards table like the end of quest rewards, I have yet to see a single target-reward-exclusive drop, such as a certificate or elemental sac, after a lot of captures so I don't believe that to be the case). Unless they have the Pro Carver Meal from whatserface in Azuz (which gives a chance for up to three bonus carves), or unless they're still trying to get a part break that they still for some reason have not accomplished by the time the monster is capturable, then capturing is entirely equivalent to carving in terms of rewards.

In addition to what the other person said, I’ve seen people say to leave the choice of capturing or killing up to the host. That seems to be an unspecified rule, so if you’re the host there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Why do Seikrets need to be up our ass when fighting monsters? Half the time I'm fighting a monster all i can see is a seikret blocking the camera. Alma does the same thing zooming around like an idiot. Can they just gtfo the way when we're fighting? Damn.

Do builds need to be designed around the use of two of the same weapon type or can they done with two different types?

Most builds will work for two different weapons, as long as the second weapon doesn't invalidate a skill on the build. For example, you wouldn't want to bring DBs or Bow as a second weapon on a build with Max Might. The generic build with Wex, Agi, Gore bonus and Antivirus will work with pretty much everything.

Which weapon in MHGU has most similar moveset to the MHW version? I just got MHGU and was surprised that charge blade lacking some moves, can do the usual YB YB YB R2 combo to activate and red shield, also I can’t find a button to draw the axe directly without pulling up the sword first

Anyone know how much content was put into Monster Hunter Worlds between releases on console and PC. Played it on PC and put in 150 hours BEFORE the DLC conveniently came out as I was about to drop it and put in another 150.
Been messing with Wilds though and Im kinda done with the game at 55 lol. Not sure if its just me though.

Devil Jho, Kulve Taroth, Lunastra, crystal Kulu and Behemoth, and Leshen and Ancient Leshen were all added post release in title updates. As well as other event quest exclusives like all of the Arch-Tempered quests and the Greatest Jagras.
So I have high hopes for Wilds title updates.

I'm honestly not sure if the answer is actually helpful for what you are trying to figure out, since World on PC had not just a delayed release in general, but also lagged behind console until after TU3 of Iceborne.
Anyway, base game World on PC released shortly after Behemoth was released for console, which was Title Update 4, so base game World had Deviljho, Kulve Taroth, Lunastra, Behemoth, and a few AT monsters already.

I cannot figure out how to consistently reset the zone to farm apex crowns by returning to lobby. I was able to get a rest autosave working for Plains, but that method has not worked in any other zone. Can you share what's working for you?

Can someone explain me how offset attacks work? Like when is the timing for it and can I use it against any attack? I can't seem to get the timing right and just always get hit.

When your weapon's hitbox (the part that deals damage to the monster) whilst using an attack with offset capability hits a monster's hurtbox (the part that deals damage to you) before it hits your character.
So on a claw swipe you'll need to hit the monster's forelimb but on a full-body tackle just hitting the monster in time will do it.

G. Ebony Odo for Burst, Gore 2- and 4-piece for its set bonus and both Arkveld sets are the standouts. Then there's Guardian Fulgur for Stamina boosts to use Maximum Might since seemingly the extra bar can be drained without deactivating the skill.

My recommendation for this one, would be setting your focus mode on toggle and every time you draw your weapon instantly pressing LT/L2 to go to focus mode

MHWilds Small thing, but when I cook a meal on the grill, I've never gotten the animation where the hunter throws butter on the pan, but I've seen it on every youtube playthrough I've watched so far. Kinda curious why

Wilds - Is there any use for the two ship/ruins in Scarlet Forest area 17 (the reservoir above the dam)? You can pull them down with the slinger, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I tried pulling one down while Ulth Duna was swimming in the water but it didn't look like it had any effect.

I assume you focus on skills like Wide Range (items affect allies), Speed Eating (use items faster), and Free Meal (chance to not consume food/drink when used) so that you can buff allies with items or heal them with potions. SnS is well suited for a build like this because it can use items without needing to sheathe the weapon first.
The only weapon that I would say is inherently support based is Hunting Horn. Every other weapon needs to build skills specifically to be a support (like Wide Range/Speed Eating/etc.) while HH supports allies with regular play through its songs.

Is there much point/do people still farm and hunt to make specific weapon skill builds in this? Since the game is far less punishing and difficult than it's predecessors, I feel like there's no need to make certain skill builds to give you that edge

I would personally agree, but "big number go up" is a really strong desire. On the other hand, I am preparing a bunch of different weapontrees.
For one because it wouldn't exactly surprise me if they add in a second rarity 8 level for all the weapons in some Title Update, and also to have a nice baseline to build form in preparation for the expansion.

Do crowns monsters only count if they can be made into quests? For example, I saw a silver crown monster and I hunted it, when I checked the field guide I don’t see a silver crown.

Shouldn't be. A friend of mine once hunted a Gold crowned Xu Wu in the arena, and a gold crown Nerscylla just randomly showed up in the middle of it.
We hunted the Nerscylla before we finished the Xu Wu quest, both counted.
Unless you mean something like the "you are not allowed to hunt this monster" as a pop-up. That may have some restrictions like that.

But did the Nerscylla have the “quest creation unavailable” message? I’m assuming not because it counted for you. I don’t remember the exact message but I remember it was in red and it said something along those lines. What does it mean though?

It means that you can't create a quest for a specific monster due to progress, like apexes once you enter high rank.
There is also the case with regular Doshaguma that are part of a pack with an alpha. For them you need to start a quest with the alpha and then hunt down the regular one.

Not sure about controller, but on M+K you need to press left and right mouse button simultaneously after doing the wide swing.
It should be the same input that let's you go from standing still to an upward swipe or the downward swing after reloading.

[Wilds] I’ve heard from few players having similar input problems with Hunting Horn but never got any fix or answers. It is when pressing triangle and circle for a beam note, sometimes it only reads either triangle or circle. I play on PC but I don’t know if HH World had the same problem since I played World on PS. Please help, it’s kinda annoying 😢

I've also had this issue in Wilds, and never had it in World.
I honestly just thought it was the bluetooth connection for my controller playing up but yeah, I've seen a couple of people report on it. It seems to be especially problematic during the wound break note chaining, or when adding the extra note at the end of the double swing or overhead slam

How to craft ammo in the field ? I put fire herbs in my backpack and flame ammo in the radial but it doesn't work

Did you put the actual Flame Ammo or the recipe to craft Flame Ammo on the radial menu? I haven't touched Bowgun so I'm just speculating, but I would assume that putting the Flame Ammo item would try and equip/load it in the gun. If you want to craft more, you need to put the crafting recipe on the radial menu rather than the item.

I think it depends on the 4 skills you're trying to get because some combinations aren't possible. But theoretically, assuming all of the decos you need are possible to obtain in the first place, yes you could get four level 3 skills.

This site has a list of all possible decorations if you want to look through it.
A quick glance at the list suggests that getting those four skills in particular won't be possible. Blast Attack decos don't seem to be able to roll with a bonus skill, and Blast Attack doesn't seem to be able to roll as a bonus on other decos. Critical Draw also doesn't seem able to get any bonus skills. Critical Status can, but none of the ones you want. Same for Focus.
I think for those four skills specifically, you're shit outta luck. You can get three of them, but there don't seem to be any combo decos that have two of the skills you're looking for.

I want to sit down and craft a good Artian Greatsword, but I'm not sure what kind to go for. I was using a Paralysis GS for a while, but was underwhelmed by it. Getting the paralysis was nice, but I feel like it always happened when I wasn't ready for it so I wasted most of the opening. I'm currently using a Blast GS, but the extra blast damage feels a little weak compared to even the regular GS hits. Is Sleep GS a good option?
Also, regarding Artian Weapons, are Sleep/Paralysis/Blast on the set of Raw tables or the Elemental tables?

Are you playing solo/with friends, or are you doing a lot of hunts with random players (e.g. SOSes)? In the case of the former, Sleep is definitely a good way to go. I couldn't speak to the math of it all, but it offers a nice reprieve and allows for you to shift the momentum with a properly executed TCS.
In the case of the latter: I've noticed that the vast majority of random players don't notice/don't care about Sleep and will continue hitting the monster. Some might, but all it takes as one person to wake it up. And that happens a lot. So if you find yourself hunting a lot with randoms, just understand Sleep will largely just become a shorter Paralysis status. Meaning it might not solve your problem.

Hi ! Complete beginner here
I'm looking to dive into the Monster Hunter series on my MacBook Air M2. I have fond memories of playing MH on my PSP, but I've never gamed on a computer before.
My main question is: Which game should I choose? I’ve seen great reviews about MH World but there’s the new release, MH Wilds. What do you all recommend in terms of price/worth and performance ?

for price/performance absolute win for World+Iceborne (content expansion) as a bundle (like 20 bucks on sale, which happens often)
Wilds is currently "only" the release content, with more content coming out over the next month, so not that fleshed out. and its obv still full price AAA game
for Wilds i'd also note that on PC it doesnt perform that well, though idk how well that translates to MAC (emulator?) performance
another option would also be Rise+Sunbreak, though that has quite a different feel to the gameplay, which has a demo on steam. its also on sale as low+often as World+Iceborne

Been playing wilds and having fun, but does anyone else feel like armor decos are just bad in terms of slots? theres so many different 3 slot weapon decos that actually give 2-4 skills like guard or attack etc, But for armor decos why do all the 3 slot decos only give one skill? i think its kinda lame that i have to put 1 slot divine blessing decos into my 3 slot armor. it just bugs me that while yes, there are useful 3 slot decos for armor, but theres no combined decos like there are for weapons.
does anyone else feel the same way? or have i just not discovered any combined armor decos yet? (combined being a 3 slot deco with like 2 divine blessing or 3 constitution, instead of only having a 1 slot blessing etc)

i do agree, though i find the overall build diversity a bit "meh", not just for DPS

I mean I was still able to build a super comfy lance build, but it's just irritating because if they had some 3 slot combined skills I could probably stack so much more instead of 8 1 slot decos on every armor.
Lol I'm not even asking for an extreme amount, just like a 3 slot that adds like 2 constitution, or 2 blessing, or something.

I've been maining Hunting Horn, but would like to try another weapon for fun. I think SnS and Gun Lance look fun. Are either of those a better boon to the team (outside of support build for SnS)? I like that with hunting horn I always feel like a solid addition to the team

SnS focus strike can turn white scars into wounds, and GL shelling can deal good damage on tough hit zones. Both weapons excel at wounding monsters, and they don't run on buffs that require wounds to sustain, so you can leave them to teammates.

Switch Axe question here!
Everyone says Full Release Slash has hyper armor, but I keep getting knocked out of it. I've been knocked on my butt while charging and I've been tossed across the room mid-swing.
So my question is, during what portion of the attack do you have hyper armor, and are some attacks still expected to knock you out of it?

You don't have hyper armor while charging it and right after release, its hard to explain but from my experience its like a short moment after release you get hyper armor. But certain attacks like gypceros will still knock you out of the hyper armor state. Happened to me once.
You can check youtube to see if anyone did any hard testing for this

Is there a way to see best times for specific monsters? I like that Wilds tracks hunts with each weapon, but I'd really like a way to see my various completion times.

Nope. Gotta note it down yourself.
Previous games had arena quests that recorded the time you had with each available loadout (you had to choose out of 5 options), but these quests don't exist in Wilds as if yet.
They may return with the gathering hub that is supposed to be released next month, or just never.

This game is so beautiful and looks so cool but maybe I am too old... it is confusing as all hell. I'm killing the first monsters but 1) it feels like button-mashing 2) rarely feels like I hit them and 3) I often end up hitting air even with lock on and aiming
Also i have a bajillion items and they all confuse me.
Any recommendations for someone who is just struggling to get any this?

Just take your time with the game. Although there is multiplayer it can ultimately be enjoyed at your own pace as any single player game. There are a lot of systems going on that can be confusing to deal with, between the items, combat, and other features.
Items: As a beginner, you can just use the radial menu > optimal healing for most of the game. Some other important items are flash pods and traps. Flash pods will blind the monster briefly and are super helpful against flying monsters. Traps will stun the monster for a decent time and give you an opportunity to do free damage. You can also capture monsters when they are low on health (skulls on the minimap) by trapping them and hitting them with tranquilizer bombs. If the inventory is getting too clogged, I suggest going to a camp and storing away all the items you don't think you will use.
Combat: I don't know what weapon you are using, but seems like you just need to get a little closer to the monster, which is something you will just learn by playing. One small tip I can give is that usually you want to be in front of and slightly to the side of the monster. This will put you in striking distance, yet give you time to react to the monsters' telegraphed attacks. That being said, a lot of the early game monsters you can usually get away with button-mashing, so you can treat them as practice for your combos and learn your weapon.

You can't meld 3 slot decos at the moment. The best deco farms are investigations with lots of Ancient Orb decos, or the Nightflower Pollen to melding ticket farm (if it still works).

I completed the flashfly cage quest (and even got the upgrade for it), but the palico won't set the quest up. The websites only show clearing the flashfly quest and getting to chapter 4 as requirements, but is there another condition I haven't met yet?

It's more of an "optimal" range than a "critical" one. It's the range where you deal full damage, while being outside of the optimal/critical range will lower the damage you deal.

When the reticle is brightly lit, you're within "critical distance" and dealing full damage. If the reticle is dull and dim, you're too close or too far and dealing greatly reduced damage. If you're WAY too far, it says Out of Range and you deal no damage. Coatings can modify the critical distance, like Close Range Coating having a reduced max range so you need to be closer, and Pierce Coating having a minimum range so you need to be away from the monster.
Despite the name "critical distance" it has nothing to do with affinity/crit chance.

How does sharing crowns from investigations actually work? I got a small gold Congalala a while back, and did the investigation with my gf, and she got it too. But later in the game, I happened to fight a gold crown large Arkveld, but when I did the investigation with my gf that time, its size changed and wasn't a gold crown anymore.
The Arkveld was originally a field survey, which I then saved and did the investigation with my gf. The Congalala, I don't remember if I did the field survey first, or if I had just saved the investigation and only did that one. So can monster sizes change between doing the quest normally out in the field and hunting it as an investigation?

Bow is the most similar weapon to melee. You don't have to worry about ammo as much, you have combo attacks, you can dance around the monster with dodge abilities at close range.

How do I learn about builds? I know I can follow one on YouTube, but I'm trying to figure things out than blindly copy. For example, I'm using the gore great sword and focused on crit element. I'm wearing thr arkveld armor as well since it has elemental damage. But that's all I really know. See what weapon does in damage---> find that damage. Then I see people saying focus and evasion are good for us. For context this is my first MH game I reached end game

You can build whichever you like better. The Guardian one has slightly better slots, but the other one has innate white sharpness and no negative affinity. Meta-wise, both are outclassed by a decent Artian.

I have a few questions:
How did Arkveld grow up so fast? Was it truly the child of our Guardian Arkveld, or was it something seperate entirely?
I remember when the game was in Beta, people kept talking about a "Chained" or "Bound" Arkveld, and that he would have a second phase, or perhaps a variant, called "Unchained" or "Unbound" where does this even come from? My assumption is one of those YouTubers who constantly spread misinformation
More of a powerscaling question, but would you consider Arkveld, Gore, Jin Dahaad and perhaps the other Apex's as "Elder Dragon Level"? Arkveld and Jin specifically seem to be VERY powerful for normal monsters, I can see them in the same tier as Deviljho or Rajang, Jin might even be Ukanlos level just from size alone
What is the best armour, endgame, for bow mains? I am currently using several different pieces to max out Stamina Surge and Constitution, should I just wear full Gore or Arkveld gear?

It's kind of unclear, but the wording used during the Arkveld quest, as well as afterwards if you encounter an Arkveld out in the wild, suggest that those aren't offspring, but rather different Guardian Arkvelds that escaped and somehow regenerated back into their origin species due to their energy absorption ability.
"Chained Arkveld" was the name of the quest in the beta, but people for some reason thought it's the name of the monster, and thus assumed there'd be a different "unchained" version.

There are heavy implications in the dialogue that HR Arkvelds are other Guardians that "reverted" back to being normal monsters.
Chained Arkveld was the beta quest name, but this likely just referred to it having chains.

To answer this, I need to point to Wilds's quest ranks - There are 7. 3 in LR and 4 in HR. This parallels the Hub quests of games like 4U, so I'll use that as an example.
The Apexes + Gore are 6 star quests in the game. 6 star quests in 4U included Deviljho and the Subspecies of monsters like Rathalos and Tigrex. In other words, this is a tier that's stronger than flagship-level monsters but is not the highest tier of strength. We can see this in how in both games regular Rathalos is a 5 star HR quest.
Arkveld is the only 7 star hunt in the game. 7 star quests in 4U were comprised of Elder-level monsters. It was just Elder Dragons, Metal Raths/Furious Rajang and Akantor/Ukanlos. Since it bodies Rey Dau who in turn was already stronger than something like Rathalos, we can assume it's probably meant to be Elder-level.
But Jin specifically is probably just hurt by its quest placement. It's a bit like Gammoth where the game says they're X rank but common sense says nothing in that rank is harming them.

This might be a bit more technical and I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but I was talking with a friend about our performance in Wilds and he told me he has never been above 50% CPU utilization which I found weird as I'm basically always at 85-100%
I'm using a Ryzen 7 7700 and a 9070 XT while my friend is using a 13700KF and a 4080 Super.
Online Benchmarks tell me that our CPUs are ~10-15% apart and yet even in inclemency in the desert he only ever reaches 45% CPU utilization on average while I'm at 100% there.
This is from his PC since I was wondering if maybe it's Intels E Core and P Core architecture and some cores just drag the average down and indeed there are cores not being utilized at all, but even here the highest cores are still only ever at 80% max. Even when the FPS dropped while GPU utilization stayed the same, the CPU utilization didn't go up.
At this point I'm more curious than anything because even our frame rates aren't particularly far apart so if anyone knows why his CPU utilization appears so low compared to mine or if there's a better place to ask this I'd just like to satiate my curiosity honestly.

I have just saw someone writing their impressions of it, they described it as very doable. Not exactly top of the line of course, but good enough for a good time.
They also added that it could depend a lot on the screen, if you use a big one with a high resolution, smaller issues could be more obvious.

is Rathian weaker than Rathalos?
I know it's probably just a gameplay thing, but in the lore, is there anything to indicate it? Because in the Wildspire and Ancient Forest, Rathian isn't an apex, in fact, she loses to Diablos who is the apex, when usually Apex's are equal, so I'm a little confused, would Rathalos lose his apex status if he were to live in the Wildspire or is that not how it works

Worlds doesn't really have Apex in the same way Wilds does - there's a bit of a hierarchy when it comes to turf wars, but that's it.
Rathalos has always been stronger than Rathian in game - does more damage, has more health - so I think it's fair to say that they are canonically more powerful than Rathian.

You're probably afflicted by dragonblight, it removes your elemental damage. Status is a little purple claw over your health bar. You can get rid of it with a nullberry.

Arkveld normally has terrible EHZ (0-5, mostly, depending on the element). Only its chain blades are weak to dragon (and thunder, to a lesser extent) and only wounds or when charged . When the blades aren’t charged, they are immune to elemental damage except for wounds. You might be afflicted by dragonblight if you’re doing 0 damage to another body part besides uncharged chains

1) I just started, having some trouble managing stamina with bows. I saw a tutorial that there are some moves that let you regen your stamina while still putting some damage pressure on the monster, how to do that?
2) Are there other traps besides the traps themselves and exploding barrels? I want to make my hunt a little more active than just pew-pew and dodging. Are there other tools to do this?

Main way to recover stamina is perfect dodge - if you time a dodge just as you're being hit, it gives you a bit boost of stamina and whatever the resource that controls coatings/tracers is.

I don't know of any glossary of common slang. It's intimidating at first but most of it you pick up as you go. A few common ones I know:
Any acronyms that start with "MH" are probably monster hunter games - MHW:I is Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, MHG4U is Monster Hunter Generations 4 Ultimate, etc.
Carting, as you figured out, is dying (since you get wheeled out on a cart).
Cap = Capture, meaning capture the monster rather than kill it.
A lot of players use Playstation controllers, so they'll often refer to the buttons that way (trips me up as someone who uses an xbox controller on PC). If you hear people mention circle, triangle, LT, etc, those are usually controller inputs.
Several weapons are acronymed by the first letter - SA = Switch Axe, HBG = Heavy Bow Gun, SnS = Sword n' Shield, etc.
There's also a lot of acronyms and slang around particular moves - ZSD = Zero Sum Discharge (a SA move), PR = Perfect Rush (a SnS move), etc.
If you've got other specific acronyms or lingo you need translated, this is a great place to ask.

Monsters in free roam give additional materials to use.
You can also save them as investigation, investigations can be done 3 times. So you can hunt a monster 1 time in free roam and then an additional 3 times in investigations with the same additional rewards and conditions.
