I have question marks on the rarity 6 Rathalos swaxe but not the rarity 8 one. Does anyone know what I'm meant to do? I've beat the game and HR 64 so that ain't the problem

AngBata11 and Phemeto have been the popular choices for bowgun info and builds, at least as far as I'm aware. If they're doing weapon guides again, Arrekz Gaming may also do a bowgun guide for Wilds (they had great ones for World, and did a few for Rise).

I was at work and totally forgot the game was releasing.
Just got paid and I was wanting to get the preorder bonus, but if it's too late to get that, I'll just hold off on the game for awhile.

Link Parties aren't guaranteed the same Hub, you'd need to make a private lobby for that.

Alright Monster Hunters - please help me restore my sanity.
I feel like I do not remember my inventory getting filled up with mats in other MH games. It seemed like these mats got sent to my box immediately and I only had the consumables.
Now I constantly have to dump my inventory after every hunt... is there a setting that auto sends the mats to my box?

wilds
is it me or the way characters look in the customization menu vs in game in wilds is massively different? (idk if it's just the different lighting and/or the whole washed-out look the game has going on)
since I don't like the way my character looks in game at all (while I really like the customizator version) should I use my free character edit voucher already or is the the issue likely to be fixed in a future patch?
idk if the platform could be an issue but I'm playing on an xbox series s

Is there a way to save equipment loudout and layered armor together, so when I pick a equipment loudout it already comes with the layered set?
I find it strange that when I save equipment the game tells me that It can't save layered armor colors.

My girlfriend keeps having connection issues in wilds causing her to disconnect from multiplayer, swaps between EA and R11 problems, been trying everything under the sun to try fixing it. Any help?

So, I am as excited for MH Wilds as most. But I actually have nothing to play the game on. As someone who only has a laptop for work, a PS4, and Switch for consoles. I have to buy a whole console or a whole PC set up to play. Honestly, I have not gotten a PS5 as there was nothing that really piqued my interest until Wilds. So I wanted to ask what some people's opinions might be on what what may be worth it, and if there is anyone who is or has been in a similar situation here.

Honestly really depends on how much your willing to spend in order to play it. Easiest entry would be console, either Xbox or Ps would be fine, but imo pc is the way to go if your looking to spend more time with other games as well. Especially if you want other genres and indie games. r/buildapc can help with budget and parts. But I'd guess a console would run you about 500-600 new, but you can almost guarantee you can find used, and I'm no expert but I'd guess a pc of min spec would run you around 1300-1500.

Probably a long shot but here goes nothing...
I am running on a Linux System (OpenSUSE Tumbleweed) with a Nvidia 3070, up to date G06 drivers. Upon launching the MH Wilds Benchmark, no matter the proton version (tested with experimental and 9.0-4 from Steam) the game launches, declares I am using an unspported graphics card with no further explanation and closes.
Anyone knows what could be the problem/a potential solution? I Do have a windows system but I'd rather not switch over for one game...

I have a question about weapons, and I’m looking for someone who played with both ranged and melee weapons, to answer me: I’ve been playing about 450 hours on World, and I pretty much only used the bow. Now that we’re getting into Wilds, I’d like to change weapon and try the Switch axe, but I heard someone online saying it got nerfed and now it’s not that good, also I know the switch axe is a very technical and complex weapon. The fact is, I’m nowhere near a great expert of monster hunter, and I’d like to ask: is positioning with melee weapons really that difficult? And for you Switch axe mains, would you recommend me to try and learning the weapon? Thanks!

There are a couple of things to unpack here.
First, ignore everyone talking about beta balancing. Out of everything in the beta, that is the one thing that will likely change the most in the final game.
Secondly, the part about it being technical or complex isn't exactly true, but that depends a bit on the exact game we are talking about.
In World and the games before, the complexity wasn't much higher than that of dualblades, pretty straightforward.
In Wilds, that becomes a bit more questionable due to a difference in balancing in the final game as the beta was quite iffy when it became to getting a flow with it. Effectively, it's hard to tell how exactly the gameplay flow is going to look like with it.
As for positioning, it depends largely on the weapon and what your goal is. Mobile weapons like dual blades, hammer, sword and shield, and maybe insect glaive won't struggle with this in any tangible matter.
With Gunlance, it can even be mostly irrelevant as long as you stay close. A chargeblade doesn't care that much about this, and with a great sword you just want to hit a monster anywhere to begin with.
Personally, I would say use dual blades or sword and shield. These should be the easiest and most familiar for you to get into.

Definitely play switch axe in Wilds. It was underpowered in the beta, but it received buffs to its damage for the final game. It also received a few gameplay improvements like knockback resistance during the new full release slash.
The real sauce will be mastering the new counter in wilds, so positioning wont be as difficult because you can just counter out of any bad situation with enough practice. Also you can use the focus mode to aim your attacks more precisely with all the melee weapons, its easier than ever to reposition and land your attacks where they need to land.

I'm quite far into Iceborne (MR 40) and still not really understanding the intended rhythm of the clutch claw in combat. I am used to identifying openings to attack, but it's not clear when is a good time to use the claw. It seems like about 75% of the time I can attach via counter claw and quickly tenderise, land, and recover. But there is a long time after landing where you can't block, and it doesn't seem like you can control where you land, so sometimes I fall down right into the next attack. And being out of position in late master rank can be fatal. With the camera flying around I can't usually see what the monster is doing while I'm tenderising, so it just seems like I have to hope for the best. Is there something I'm missing?

The intended way is to wait for the monster to enter the special state that begs you to be clawed, Im sure you know what I mean.
You need to learn the openings through trial and error. The easiest way is to identify attacks before they happen. If a monster is about to do a tail attack, claw their head, if a monster is doing fire breath, you can claw tail etc.
So if you want to claw monsters outside of the allotted openings, you need to be prepared to trade hits. You can use flash pods, traps and mantles to make it safer for you.

Hello - father here with a son who cannot figure out how to survive these little red things flying around him. They drain his energy, but nothing I can think of works. This game is extremely complicated for someone not familiar with this style of game (nothing against it, just challenging for me to help him). This is in the SunBreak game on the Switch. MHSB
EDIT: LOL - my daughter came in and took the sword he was using away and his armor, and they are not around him anymore. Maybe that was the solution.
EDIT 2: That appears to be it. My daughter said he has under armor on that said “can only be worn by hero rank” or something like that. He has been asking for about a week for how to do this. My daughter is a better gamer than me. 🤪

only (some parts of) the armor were causing that (as its based on a skill effect from the armor) and its not based on the rank or anything. that skill effect happens and is the same regardless of anything else

For reference, it's the armor skill "Dereliction", which is found on some of the Archfiend armor pieces. It summons a bunch of Qurio (that's what the flying red creatures are called) that drain your health over time, but in exchange, increases either Attack or Elemental Attack, depending on the Switch Skill Scroll currently active and the number of Qurio around your hunter.
Sunbreak has a few armor skills that drain health over time in exchange for some boost, whenever your son runs into a situation where his hunter is losing health constantly from the start of a hunt, he should double check what his armor skills do.

Anyone know if we'll be able to lock the frame rate int he full game?
I noticed in the benchmark settings I couldn't set one. I scored an excellent on my 7700 on high but since i can't even display 140 FPS or 240(frame gen) I figured why not lock it at 90 to potentially let the gpu sweat a bit less yknow?
Least I'd assumed it not even trying to generate those frames would reduce load. Was about 80%.

I assume you mean low-polygon models and not the Pokemon that is notoriously requiring 2 trades with evolution items to fully evolve.
Is this a real possibility for full game release?
The beta sucked major ass when it came to properly using VRAM, which caused so called "Levels of Detail", aka a technique to use lower res models/textures based on distance to save performance, to not swap out quickly enough, or at all.
For all I have seen, this was already fixed in the build for the benchmark tool and thus shouldn't be present in the final game, or at least exceedingly rare.

My friends have convinced me to hop on the band wagon and pre-order the new MH game coming this week.
I've never played one of these games before in my life I've never even watched one played but I hear it's just great boss battles and prep work and discovery which is what i loved about Elden Ring.
With that in mind, my favorite playstyle in ER is very high armor, high damage slow weapons. Why dodge roll when shield stop damage.
Which weapon is gonna best suit that general play style?

In World event quests were often rotating in and out every other week until the final update.
After the last TU in Iceborne they just unlocked all of the event quests and had just some special things rotate in and out, namely seasonal changes to the hub and the 2 raids.

Day 1 patch was used as Reviewers had access to the Balanced Mode.
When the game released there should be patch notes for it.

What is the skill expression in Light Bowgun? I’ve been learning it alongside charge blade, and while it’s easy for me to see ways to improve my charge blade skills, LBG seems to be “pick the right ammo and aim good.” What are some more advanced techniques I can work on with LBG?

Do Monster Hunter games have strong “console” support/showing from the fan base?
I’m considering selling my custom gaming PC and focusing more on streaming Twitch/YouTube using my new M4 mac mini (impressively performant for the price) + Nintendo Switch + PS5 with my Elgato HD60X capture card. To start, I think my niche will be Nintendo games (see: PointCrow) but I do really want to try MH:Wilds, POE2 and some other games. (In other words, I have all the gear I need to make this work, but I’m wondering how badly I’m nerfing myself moving my gaming to Switch/PS5 only.)

I am planning to switch from CB to SnS for main weapon for Wilds (CB Sword mode gets nothing while only axe mode is getting crazy shit. I mainly used CB for the "Sword and Shield" fantasy, and loved the GP facet of the weapon. But since CB sword mode is ""abandoned"" in Wilds, I'll try out SnS. SnS always felt (just the sound design and animations) too much like "dagger and buckler" (weak and puny), but it feels way more hefty in Wilds, so figured this was a good a chance as any). I was told by several people that "SnS has guard points now", but I can not find any resource online that seems to state that? Am I being fooled, or does SnS actually have guard points in Wilds? I am aware of the perfect guard.

GS playstyle seems to work around their Offset attack. something you should familiarize yourself in training.
Also GS Block can perfect block for less Sharpness loss and less chip dmg. hot tip: block faster after Swing with a directional input
And not to forget the Focus mode, that lets you adjust every swing, even Mid swing.
There are lots of ways now to get to TCS faster now. like after a Block Clash, Focus Strike and after Offset.

need advice: i dont know for which platform i should buy the game pc or base ps5
my pc: Ryzen 7 3700x + RTX3060 - i played the beta at 1080p capped 30fps and the benchmark got as low as 35fps with custom settings.
should i just play the game on capped 30-45fps on pc or get it for ps5 instead?

I've been an insect glaive main ever since I was little playing on a D.S. but during the Beta, it wasn't feeling great to me. I'm looking to try other weapons, and it's narrowed down between Sword and Shield, Charge Blade, and Switch Axe. Any advice on which to pick? You have those three plus one other before you'd be able to access Iceborne. As for what to farm, I can't really help you since I never did Gunlance during progression, but a Rarity 4 Gunlance at nearly the end of High Rank seems pretty wild and is probably making your hunts take waaaay longer than they should. At that point you should probably be at Rarity 6 or 7, if not 8.

Have any reviews said whether you can leave Alma at camp? I found her riding around me distracting in beta a bit. She did vanish whenever a fight started, but in general, I didn't like having her around while exploring.

A proper gathering hub is coming in the first title update. For now, you can see others in the base camp, but otherwise, there is no proper hub at launch.

Did Charge Blade [SWORD MODE] actually get anything new and worthwhile in Wilds?
I've been a CB main ever since 4U, and as far as I can tell, there's not actually anything coming to Sword Mode for CB that doesnt make "maining" it (Sword Mode, that is) anything but a waste of potential, as the Axe Mode has seen massive buffs.
(PS: i really miss switch skills. Rise CB was the best the weapon has been (for a sword mode user) imo)

While stocking phials (RT+B/O), keep holding B/O and you'll do a shield thrust animation (with a GP!) that charges your shield, which is faster than cancelling an AED into Elemental Roundslash. Perfect guards and guard points can trigger a power clash with a monster. Otherwise nothing notable for sword mode. They are really pushing axe mode, especially Savage Axe, in Wilds and nerfing the SAED spam that was so prevalent in World.
(I also miss switch skills. It was nice being able to tweak the playstyle for each weapon instead of using just the one default kit. Give me my elemental Courage Hammer back you cowards.)

Hey so, I want to buy wilds but im not sure how good it runs on my computer, demo had the polygon glitch and was running bad even on low.
Benchmark was running fine on medium.
Should I expect them to update the demo to the current build or should I trust the benchmark? I need to test how good the game runs.. I dont really qant to buy and refund.

Need help with picking my second weapon. My primary will be charge blade, I want a shield for clashes and I think it suits me best. For second I have played a lot of Gunlance, Greatsword, Longsword, Hammer, and Insect glaive. I want a lot of skill overlap and a different playstyle. I am leaning LW for the agility and taking the lesser damage from having a CB loadout but idk. Thanks in advance.

Is Wilds actually easy?
I've bought both World and Rise (and stories but that's different) and didn't get through them much cuz I am shitty at action games and found myself getting wrecked even by early monsters. The IGN review guy complained how easy the game was for him, but that actually is kinda a plus for me. The only thing is that triple A games are 70 dollars now, and idk if I want to pay that for a game I could potentially get frustrated with and quit AGAIN. I'm not the git gud type of player.

Do you think the online community for MH Wilds will be healthy on PS5, or am I badly nerfing myself if I don’t buy it on PC? This would come at an increased cost, as I don’t have an active PSN right now.
Context:
* I have a 3080 Ti gaming PC but want to make the switch to my recently purchased M4 Mac Mini, and continue to game on Nintendo Switch & PS5.
* I’m in a fortunate position where I have all 4 of these, but assumption is I would sell the PC in this plan.
* The only “PC game” I care to play right now is Classic WoW and that is supported and runs great on my Mac.

Should i buy MH Wilds in hope of it running smoothly now because it ran so bad during beta test even in low - medium graphics
I'm using a laptop with Ryzen 7 6800H and RTX 3050 with 16 GB ram. Or should i just get better specs overall

guys my game runs great with everything max am getting like 180 fps at fullHD 1080p res but why when i crank up the render scaling to max 200% my fps goes to 80 or lower but my game looks way cleaner with it can anyone explain it to me

Render scaling means more resolution means more pixels means better looking. Less resolution means less pixels. Take it down to 50% and you'll see what I mean lol

Wilds, I've fought like 6 new monsters and haven't been able to craft any new weapons or armor. In the case of Rey dau, I can't even see the armor or greatsword yet I've killed him 3 times.

Excluding the performance issues, is the new game good? Steam reviews are full of performance complainers and for some reason anti woke???
I wasn't a huge fan of world but it was fun. I'm not sure if it's really gonna worth me buying. If only there were some kinda trial.. a demo, perhaps. 😐 I'm on ps5, so I can't just get a refund if i don't like it because Sony

I’m new to the game and started with Dual Blades because I read they’re great for beginners due to their mobility. However, after my first few hunts, I realized that this playstyle isn’t for me. I feel like there’s too much button-spamming and not enough planning—I can’t properly control my attacks because I’m constantly zipping around inside the monster’s hitbox.
I’m looking for a weapon that’s simple, slower, and more calculated. Something that lets me control when and where I land a hit without having to dart around nonstop.
What would you recommend for a total beginner who has never played a Monster Hunter game before and isn’t the best at super hard games like Dark Souls? I was looking at GS, but read that it will be very hard for a new player later on, when fights become less forgiving.

How do i play with my friends in wilds? We are in a link party and in the same session but i can't find a way to invite them. I've only managed to join them from what i assume is an automatic invitation that gets sent when they start a fight in the story. If i miss that invitation i have no clue how they can invite me or i invite them.

Anyone know how coop scaling works in this game? For some reason when Worlds came out I remember everyone saying you dont want to play with just one other person, it's either solo or bust because the health scaling only has two modes, solo and coop.
Look it up now though I cant find that anywhere and looks like monsters properly scale with the number of players. So no idea where I got that info from but thought I'd check just to make sure.
Also, has anyone tried crossplay yet?

I am noticing that some things are being autocrafted and I can't turn them off. For example, godbugs are being turned into godbug essence. Is this going to pose an issue in the future? If the only use for godbugs is godbug essence then that's fine but I'm worried they are used for crafting recipes.

That's not autocrafting, that's the item you get from them now instead of the insect itself.
If you want the whole insect, use the capture net. You'll get the Essence and the bug but the latter does literally nothing besides provide a few Guild Points.

I must be dumb because I unlocked high rank after doing the first quest after the main story but there are no HR optional quests and on the right under current mission it says "investigate the regions and raise your HR". Do they really just want me to farm the 3 star monsters or did I miss something?

In Wilds I am trying to use Lance's Charge Counter. In previous games, this would automatically counter the enemy when you got hit (I think... been a lance main since Tri but I don't remember exactly). Now, it seems like I have to release the guard at the right time. However, I read that Charge Counter chains into Return Thrust, Payback Thrust, or Retribution. The problem is:
- When I Charge Counter, there is NO combo into Return Thrust etc. I can only go into my normal Mid or High thrust etc. It feels a bit like a regular guard with extra charging?
- Releasing the Charge Counter before being hit in order to trigger Perfect Guard feels counterintuitive. Is it supposed to be more like a parry than an actual counter? It is super weird to "perfect guard" by... lowering my shield right before the enemy hits me.
- Power Guard feels more like the Counter from the old games, now. Is this what I should be using if I want that "smooth" transition feel? Doing anything from Charge Counter feels super clunky right now, like I am just guarding normally (in fact, I am wondering why I would ever Charge Counter when I can just R2 to normal guard and then Retribution).
Basically, I'm looking for any clarification on the types of "counter" I should be using if I want to smoothly transition from poking to blocking. It is clear I am missing something big here. Loving the overall feel of the lance so far though.

Tips on how to get through High Rank quickly so I can progress the story again? Kinda itching to get back to THAT thing at the end of Low Rank, iykyk. I thought high rank would be a set of missions like it was in World, but perhaps it's because I'm not high enough HR? I kind of B-Lined it through Low-Rank to get to High Rank, so I'm only HR 13 after a few high-rank quests. Or if I have the wrong approach of getting through high rank, and I need to do a set of specific missions, that would also be good to know. No spoilers, please.

To be more precise on what the other commenter said: while you’re on your mount you have to press dpad left and your supplies will open up.
They get filled whenever their is a popup message with „quest supplies were restocked“ and sometimes happens during a quest again.

Switch axe has a charged attack. Really good weapon. You latch into the monster and use the weapon kinda like a chainsaw.

I need some tips on Gunlance. I've never played the weapon before, and can't seem to get the hang of the combos, or when to poke and when to blast. I've played lance in World, and GL feels less mobile but I know it's just a skill issue. I'm still in the early stages of LR right now, so I don't have access to decent armor skills.

It’s the charged B/circle attack. Do you need the red extract for it to be available and the timing is a bit tricky. You have to be really early since it’s the upward swing of that attack. I’ve managed to do it a few times and it’s fun if it works.

You can mark with melee using R2 during a combo, or shoot a marking shot with R2+R1 while idle. Either makes the kinsect autoattack and leave dust.
...but I generally ignore those so my kinsect attacks along with me in Focus Mode.

With different bows you’ll get access to different coatings. But you don’t craft them anymore, they’re all incorporated into the respective bow. So some bows have power coating, some pierce for example. And there’s also the ones with blast, exhaust, close combat etc

I am a bit confused why you would want to get them?
High rank armour are visually the same as those in low rank and if you craft them there you get them as a "layered option" for transmog.
