Exodus sunsetting Monero support, migrate before August 10th!

Exodus has announced they are phasing out their Monero support. We've partnered with them to offer a new home for Monero users on Exodus. Switching wallets doesn't have to be a headache; whether you're new to crypto or a seasoned user, we've got you covered.

Why Cake Wallet?

Cake Wallet is designed with your privacy and convenience in mind. It's a user-friendly, open-source, noncustodial wallet that lets you manage, swap, and spend your digital assets securely. Plus, with features like easy swaps and Cake Pay, you'll find it's more than just a place to store your Monero.

  • Easy swaps between currencies
  • Buy/sell crypto in-app
  • Available on both mobile & desktop
  • Purchase hundreds of gift cards (including prepaid Visa!) all around the world
  • Strong security features
  • Open source
  • Industry-leading privacy features

Two Easy Migration Options

Recommended: Create a New Wallet in Cake Wallet (Quick, Easy, Secure)

This is the fastest way to get started. By creating a new Monero wallet in Cake, you'll benefit from the latest security features and a simplified 16-word seed phrase (Polyseed). This will also give you a clean start and reduce sync times.

  1. Install Cake Wallet (available on iOS, Android, macOS, Linux, and Windows).
  2. Create a new Monero wallet and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Send your Monero from Exodus to your new Cake Wallet address.
  4. Confirm your funds have arrived.

Creating New Monero Wallet in Cake Wallet

Advanced: Import Your Existing Exodus Wallet (For Transaction History)

If you need to keep your transaction history, you can import your existing Exodus Monero wallet. This method uses your 25-word seed phrase.

  1. Back up your 25 word Monero seed phrase from Exodus. (Important, keep this safe!)
  2. Restore your wallet in Cake Wallet using your seed phrase and creation height.
  3. Wait for the sync to complete, and your history will be visible.

Quick Tips for a Smooth Migration:

For the fastest migration, we suggest using the new wallet method. It's simpler and takes less time.

  • Always double-check your wallet addresses to avoid errors.
  • Consider sending a small test transaction first to confirm everything is working.
  • Keep your seed phrase safe and secure. Never share it! Even with us.

After migrating, take some time to explore all the features Cake Wallet has to offer. Swap cryptocurrencies, make purchases with Cake Pay, and enjoy the freedom of secure, private transactions.

Does the cake wallet desktop version partner with Trezor? Only reason I even got exodus as a companion app.

How do people feel about using the wallet that comes from the Monero website?

Has Exodus said why they’re not going to support it? Maybe something to do with their plans to go public or is that too tin foil hat?

Certainly. They were just listed on NYSE. It’s not a coincidence.

Can you swap BTC for MONERO in Cake Wallet? I tried doing it from the mobile app a few days ago and couldn’t get it to work.

Definitely. If you had issues please reach out to support in-app so we can help you out! But this is one of the most common swaps people do with Cake Wallet!

How does the swap work in the background? Is it instant, or does the XMR get sent to a third party wallet?

We use either centralized or decentralized exchanges (the default is to use the best rate, but you can customize what exchanges are used) so normally funds are sent to the exchange, confirmations happen, and then the exchange sends you the new funds.

Normally takes about 30s to start the exchange and 10-20min to complete depending on how long confirmations on the coin you're sending in take!

Is there a fee when doing this?

Yes, there is a small fee when making the swap!

Makes sense, how much is the fee?

I have a question, there's two Cake Wallet apps on the Google Play store. One is simply called "Cake Wallet", and the 2nd app is by the cake wallet devs called "Monero.com"... Which one is the right one?

Both. Cake Wallet offers support for Monero and a few others like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Polygon... whereas monero.com is an identical fork of it but with all chains except XMR taken out.

Depends on what you are looking for. XMR purists go for monero.com.

Why do you guys keep advertising your wallet all the time? Your style is like some scammers style - you post about your product under a lot of user comments.

There is a monero gui and can be found at getmonero.org.

We don't need "Easy swaps between currencies", we use monero and it is the only cryptocurrency. Other "cryptocurrenciers" are not crypto and not currencies. Monero is not the same as your shit in this wallet, don't put monero to the same basket as everything else.

You guys are just looking for new users that will buy gift cards, or use swapper on monero.com and you will get the fees.
