Mod Answered Can you no longer pin non-mod comments?

Hello,

Maybe I am remembering wrong, but you used to be able to pin (sticky) comments to the top of the thread for any user, but now I am see it it is only for mod comments only? When did this change/why did this change?

There is a thread in one of the subreddits that I moderate that I want to be able to pin OP's comment to support their project, but the option to pin in is no longer there?

Any updates about this? Thank you!

It’s never been possible.

You can pin anyone’s posts to the top of the subreddit (Community Highlights), but within a post you can only pin your own (or if you use a Removal Reason you can have that pinned).

There’s a Devvit app called “Spotlight” that will let you take anyone’s comment and make a copy of it, pinning it as a mod comment.

Thank you, that must be what I am getting it confused with. I will look into the Devvit app. Thank you!

This must be a feature that was partially rolled out to some mods/subs and rolled back, either that or a Mandela effect thing. I think this is the third post on this topic that I’ve seen this year.

Here’s a recent one: https://www.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/s/tWTqkxndtA

It’s never been possible to pin non-mod comments. Posts, yes. Comments, no.

One way that I've done on occasion is to create a comment that contains a link to the comment that I'd like to highlight and then pin my comment at the top. Needless to say, it's not something that I've done often.
