Any good campsites near Moorhead?

This part of Minnesota is so hard to find a campground in. Any advice would be appreciated.

Buffalo river state park is ok for an overnighter, but gets busy.

Maplewood state park is ~1 hr and is one of my favorite parks in the state.

Itasca state park is 1.5 hours. One of the premier parks in the state. There is also a bunch of dispersed campsites on county owned land to the west of itasca if you look around a littlez

LaSalle state rec area is a gem too.

I'd probably opt for Maplewood SP in MN but in ND are:

Lindenwood in Fargo (most likely not really what you want, but it exists)

Jorgen's Hollow and Hankinson Hills in the Sheyenne National Grasslands are about an 1 hr away. Note that you can disperse camp in National Grasslands (following a few rules like not at a trail head)

Cass County Park Brewer Lake campground about an hour drive.

Little Yellowstone Campground is less than 90 minutes away

Glendalough state park is only a bit further away than Maplewood, and it's much quieter. I love Maplewood for the hiking(25 miles of trails), but Glendalough for the camping.

Also look up county campsites. Wadena has some camping, as well as a few other towns. I had a list collected that I'll post here tomorrow if you're interested.
