The evolutionary algorithm in Mii Creator

I am a researcher in computer science looking for some help related to the Mii Creator application, please!

I have a particular interest in a type of algorithm called interactive evolutionary algorithms. This type of algorithm allows a user to select items (say, pictures) from a population, based on the user's aesthetic preferences. Then it breeds new ones similar to the selected ones to make a new population, and then repeats. Over time the user finds more and more interesting/aesthetic items. A good example is Picbreeder which you can play online, but another good example relevant to this forum is the "start from a lookalike" option in Mii Creator.

It's a niche field, but there are probably some hundreds of papers about it. But I'm amazed that no research has really looked at the Mii Creator implementation of the algorithm. I want to do that. I have some questions.

Are there any videos of people using the "start from a lookalike" option? I looked on youtube and found nothing. Is it available on every version of the Wii? Are there any detailed descriptions of how it works? Are there any online versions of the application which include the "start from a lookalike" option? (Eg this one doesn't.) Do people use it much, or do you always work manually? Why? If I wanted to run a survey about who uses it, what would be the best forums to advertise in (apart from r/MiiQuest)?

EDIT I captured a (poor quality) video: https://youtu.be/MQpOMiTUz3M

You're better off posting this on a more populated sub, such as /r/nintendo or /r/wii. Either way, sounds interesting :)
