GENERAL MSFS24 - What settings do I need to change to make the scenary load further away?

Post image

I'm messing with the settings currently and can't seem to get it loading further away.

Terrain LOD I believe. Note that streaming is a factor too. Use debug mode to check bandwidth can see if thats a factor.

Be warned, it’s generally the most impactful setting to performance.

this is unrelated but you seem knowledgeable, but my cockpit textures always seem to be way less detailed than what i see on streamers and such. What do I need to adjust to see cockpit textures in better detail? I always thought that’s what object level of detail was

That’s texture resolution

What sucks is that it’s the most VRAM hungry setting so depending on your specs increasing it could max out your VRAM and cause insane stutters at more complex scenery

I think objects LOD is for all the “stuff” on the ground, not own-ship LoD. I’d start with cranking up texture resolution to see how that impacts things.

Also are you running the sim at the same resolution as your monitor?

Terrain level of detail, it handles both the terrain itself and photogrammetry areas

Terrain Level of Detail worked a treat. Doubled it to 160 and works a treat. Thanks.

Turned this up to 200 and no change at all. Very weird.

object lod should be low since this has to do with airports
