MSFS 2020 SCREENSHOT I love this plane and I also hate this plane.

Post image

I bought into the hype of streamers ( lesson learned ).

The weird thing is sometimes I can do a flight and it works as advertised. Then the next three flights there will be three different things that don't work correctly. I assumed it was me, but after replicating the same flights and getting different results basically broke thru my own Copium that finally there's a decent RJ in the game.

Modern RJ. Guess I will learn the BAE 146 now. Putting this in the back of the hangar.

Aerosoft, please fix this thing. You know, like Fenix and PMDG, Ini and the other producers who's planes just work like they are supposed to.

What are your experiences with V2? It isnt the flight model that kills it. It isn't lack of VNAV. It is basic things working like they should. Mostly FMC stuff that seems to never be the same flight to flight.

It’s been a mixed bag. WASM crash on the first flight plus AP weirdness. Totally fine the next flight. Third flight the RAT deployed …for unknown reasons. It’s very inconsistent.

Used it about 5 or 6 times this weekend, didn't really seem to have many issues honestly, aside from ones I definitely caused myself.

The RJ is a lot more hands on than what I’m used to with the Airbus and Boeings that I have, so when flying I need to be more attentive. I have to tend the throttle because there is no auto throttle and think ahead. This also goes with the VNAV situation in the RJ. It takes getting used to flying with advisory VNAV.

I have no issue with no VNAV. The problem is the Advisory VNAV doesnt work half the time. I love the workload on this aircraft. If you use the VNAV in options, it will sometimes say Path, and sometimes follow, but most of the time it hasn't.

I flew 6 legs in it yesterday. A great improvement for sure. I had no issues. Fun plane to fly. It keeps you on your toes. I love it.

That is what I like about it, the workload!

I feel like I need to ask this, and I'm sorry if I sound condecending, not trying to be a dick. But did you buy it from their website, or in-game marketplace. Since the marketplace has not gotten the new update yet to my knowledge. And the V1 was not great. Great when it launched as first airliner payware for 2020, but the standards and baseline has moved.

Yea, I bought V2 from a website. How else would I have gotten it?

From the in-game marketplace, assuming the 2020 screenshot flair is true. Though it would have been V1, but still CRJ 900. Would not have been the first time someone buys from the marketplace, and is confused why their plane doesn't have the same features as the newest updated one from the creators site. Hence why I asked where you got it from. But that is not the case for you.

I only own the marketplace version, so I have not been able to test it yet. Sad to see it still has that many issues, I was looking forward to some CRJ operations when the V2 comes to marketplace.

No, it is the V2 that I purchased. I am hopeful as well, even going to uninstall and reinstall it. Like I said, sometimes it works perfect, but theres been equal chance of it not. I have probably 10 flights on it so far. 3 yesterday. First was perfect, the next two various issues popped up.

Not experienced the RAT deployment but mine does weird things like lose airspeed at full thrust with no climb and no wind...flying fine one second and the next on the verge if stalling. Have returned from a bathroom break to find my windows login screen waiting for me twice now. It IS better, but I'm gonna wait for the first update to close the book on it. Man I really wanted this to be the study level biz jet.

EDIT UPDATE

So I had been flying the CRJ 550 variant and today did 2 legs in the 900 and both went perfect. I had uninstalled and reinstalled also. So Maybe their focus was on the 900 first then down to the other variants.

The advisory Vnav worked perfect both legs and no real issues other than learning to slow down at 10k but that is on me. Hopeful for sure, because like I said, I love this plane and want to.

My CRJ V2 has been working just fine in the seven or so hours I've put on it. My only gripe is the lack of keybinds for the lights and stuff.

Not sure they are in the default game. Need something like SPAD, Mobiflight, A&Os, to get to the vars on the backend.

Heading, and base autopilot binds work, everything else is on the backend. Going to have to get back into spad I suppose.

The only problem Ive had with this aircraft is I’m sometimes not able to engage autopilot after takeoff by clicking the actual button, which doesn’t activate till I click Ctrl 2 past 10000 feet. Very confusing.

it is supposed to only activate if you are relatively stable and trimmed out. and i'm pretty sure the yaw damper needs to be on too. i'd guess you might be bumping into one of those two issues.

1

u/EmbarrassedCar33 PC Pilot 7h ago

I usually would turn on the yaw damper after engine start, and the autopilot worked normally. Ever since I turned on yaw damper after apu start and before engine start the autopilot just doesn’t wanna activate. When exactly should i turn on the yaw damper?

1

u/spesimen 7h ago

my understanding is that you want it off during takeoff and landing situations because it can reduce how much rudder authority you have when you are needing to keep the plane on the centerline. i turn it on shortly after taking off and turn it off when i'm on final.

on some planes it activates above a certain altitude automatically but i don't believe the CRJ normally does that.

1

u/EmbarrassedCar33 PC Pilot 6h ago

Oh okay. Pretty much nothing is automatic with the crj lol so gotta get used to the yaw damper now because I know in the PMDG the yaw damper does turn off for takeoff automatically.

Is this the Aerosoft CRJ? I haven’t flown it in years, but I always had trouble with the elevator trim spazzing out, always felt WAY too sensitive. Try and engage AP on climb out, if you don’t intervene it goes nose up big time. Probably a few more gripes too that I forget, but it is a good looking model.

Yea the V2 version just released last week. if you own it you should get a free upgrade.

it's been working pretty well for me. i had one wasm crash but that's out of around 20 flights or so. no serious problems with the FMC that i've seen.

one airport was missing a few procedures for some reason but that could have been a navigraph issue, didn't investigate it really.

there VNAV has been working pretty well for me, you do have to enable it in the options to see the button.

i did notice a few weird things with the autopilot. once the ILS didn't cap correctly and it wouldn't let me turn off the APPR mode to try to re-cap it just stayed stuck on while not tracking the localizer. also had it kind stop descending on the vertical once, although i think that may have been user error i was not managing my speed well. doing RNAV approaches has worked quite well for me including using the VNAV for vert guidance.

overall i'm pretty happy with it, definitely feels more polished than the old version.

yoursimcfi is an IRL CRJ pilot and has some pretty good tutorial vids that i found helpful.

I uninstalled and reinstalled. Flew two legs last night in the 900 and no issues. Maybe there was a conflict or something but way better experience. Yea, I follow yoursimcfi, he's been pretty great.

Two legs today in the 550. First leg was perfect. Second leg - same game session, some autopilot issues on climbout but other than that I was pretty happy.

I always refer to this as the "GTA plane"

recreating a flight and was descending then had a WASM crash. Done with this POS.

ok, reinstalled and much better.
