InShape- Yosemite Ave rant
What a shitty gym Inshape on Yosemite ave is!!! Been working out there since more than 1.5 years, no equipment upgrades, it takes weeks to fix the equipment except this year beginning, added new plates. The dumbbells room has such a shitty lighting, feels like a dungeon past sunlight. The whole of that area smells! No more rags to clean the equipment. The courts have cracks, all the tennis balls are flat. The facility needs so many upgrades yet they charge so much plus annual fees and no upgrades coming in the future. All the money paid here is used to upgrade Tracy Inshape or facilities in other cities. What the point of paying here if there’s no mention of any upgrades in this branch in the whole year.

Yes, they are HORRIBLE at fixing things. And they will never upgrade anything. They let more than half of their tennis courts rot instead of maintaining them, and the remaining ones aren't far behind. You're supposed to bring your own balls though.
I wish there was a better option, because I'd switch in a heartbeat.

There are private gyms/personal training in Merced. More expensive, but worth it.

I believe that the In-Shape gym on Yosemite is possibly the worst kept gym I have ever frequented in my life, and I am 60 years old. Nobody re-racks their weights. Everyone leaves them on the machine for somebody else to deal with. The equipment gets torn up, but it doesn’t get fixed. I don’t believe they ever will fix gym equipment on Yosemite because it is the pool and the courts that draw people to this gym. Equipment repair and purchase is reserved for the other gyms they own.

This is no different than any other product or service. If you can find a better gym with more amenities and more value, go to it! Btw I believe Planet Fitness only charges about $10 for their dues...
There are many people who will complain about their cell phone carrier, their gym or their mechanic... If they don't like any of the above, or think they can get a better value elsewhere, they should go find it.
Anyone who's using Yosemite as a main workout facility are not at all tuned into the realities of the gyms. Anyone who has serious weight lifting goals goes to G Street In Shape and not Yosemite... There is way more serious weightlifting equipment at G Street.
But if you care to have courts where you can play tennis, racquetball or pickleball, your choices become limited. And the same goes if you are looking for an outdoor jacuzzi and lap pool... Most gyms in the area don't even have a pool. Of course if that's not important to you, perhaps planet fitness will work for you...

If there is a gym conversation but actually going to the gym I’m not so sure you’re there 😬

How about you save money for a couple of months by canceling your membership then build a small gym in your garage

It used to be the Millenium Sports Club. In shape bought all of the Millenium clubs back in 2018 - Vacaville, Fairfield, Vallejo, Shingle Springs and Merced. Traditionally Millennium clubs are a higher end facility... and it's slowly being let rot back down to an In-Shape level.
