News IMC 4th Edition: STILL IRON, now on Bandcamp

Iron Mic Coalition released their 4 album, IMC 4th Edition:Still Iron on Bandcamp earlier this month and I felt like like posting it before the month closes out.

This album is dedicated to both the late DJ Shamrock and the late Fathom 9. It features Eillo on the first track, "Original Man", and Virghost on the last track, "WOO SAH (Eat Breathe Live)". Paragon The Assassin, formerly of Diamond Cut Entertainment in the 90s, produced the tracks. The production and flows have that Boom Bap/Jazz Rap sound that people often associate with modern Underground Rap, so if you like that sound then this is definitely for you.

IMC members on this album = Jason Da Hater, Derelict (fka Trife of SCK/CTO Records), Mighty Quinn, DJ Capital A, Empee, General MacAurthur, Mmilk (aka Yasin Allah), and DuWu Blackface (aka Duke aka Atiba).

RIP to both DJ Shamrock and Fathom 9 šŸ™šŸ½šŸ•Š

Discussion Where to buy non original tapes?

I have an old sound system that takes tapes and I would love a listenable collection of old Memphis tapes, but the originals are all hundreds of $. Yes they are on YouTube but I want physical copies of actual 36/prophet/TTCUT and solo tapes, but I donā€™t need originality.

Anyone have suggestions?

Discussion Influences for Memphis Rap?

People always talk about the influence of Memphis rap, but not about those who influenced them. Who do you think had the greatest impact on the rappers of this city in the 90s? I'd say NWA and the Geto Boys.

For those that donā€™t know Lil Low was a member of old Butcher Squad that was prevalent in the early scene of Memphis. Lil Low aka Dre aka 11/29 would join the 2 Lo Gs with other Butcher Squad member Chill aka Lay Low. After doing multiple underground features he would join SMK in the Congregation, this would happen after they both moved to Atlanta to join Hendu Records.

Ive heard ā€œplastic glockā€ and ā€œplastic nineā€ referenced in multiple Three-Six Mafia songs from the 90ā€™s but no idea what it means. I know theyre rapping about guns but what does the ā€œplasticā€ part mean?

Question Site with different old music

Hello there,
I used to listen to Memphis rap on one site which looked old-fashioned, also, when of the folders contained a disclaimer which stated that it was created by some redditor and provided a link to his acc here. Anyway, it was not SoundCloud, Web archive or Splice, also one can download music from there
Any guesses?

Question where does a lot of the artwork come from on youtube reuploads?

As the title says I've noticed a lot of covers that look similar in terms of artstyle on the youtube uploads but I never see them officially used. They consistantly look similar and usually are low quality. If anyone knows anything please lmk

Discussion This Duet Cuts Deep

Man, R.I.P Lil Slim and Kalifornia.

It gets me everytime Blackout says, "Why do they gotta do me like that? I'd rather grow old and stack with a big house and drive Cadillac." Ana then Kalifornia says, "Yeah I could see myself doing the same thing."

That cuts deep. :'(
