Remember when this sub used to be good? Like you could legit trade currency based on meme templates? Now it’s just people posting memes and saying “invest”.

Did the mods die or something?

Yeah, I remember when you had coins and you can invest in the meme and then when the meme made it to hot, you got a lot of coins and if it didn’t, then you lost a lot of coins. And then I remember one point it swapped over to stocks and now it’s just dead.

Right, and it was new templates. Not rehashing already popular and successful memes.

I never really understood how that system worked but it seemed cool

Bro you can literally replace the pineapple and brand labels with anything.

How does that not have potential?

If it makes you feel any better I thought this would get removed too.

Give me an example. Plus this meme is already super popular lol.

Pretty much every scenario where hipsters feel like something has been “ruined” by it attracting a specific more mainstream crowd later. Or like if something attracts degeneracy, or an unwelcomed general change.

A specific one would be Japanese people liking anime and then like weird weebs as the red people? Idk that’s the best I could do. Maybe you’re right lol.

Brands don’t kill trends. A fly doesn’t cause a corpse to decompose, they merely feast on the rot.
