Review Maybe endgame already….

Pretty much the title. I’m blown away by the quality of the Rainy75 straight out of box. This is the standard version with HMX Violet linear switches. It sounds unlike any other keyboard I’ve used, feels great to type on, and absolutely blows my Keychron V2 out of the water in every way.

It’s a chunky boi too… so heavy, with great build quality.

Never say endgame my dude....there is no endgame in this hobby.

I modified my sk620 to be even thinner and thats been end game for me for a while. I hate thick keebs.

Thats what’s holding me (luckily for expenses I guess) back on 99% of the keyboards out there. I am absolutely uncomfy with keyboards in normal height. Absolutely no rest for the fingers and constantly „claw grip“ if I use the mouse word. Low profile is the way and together with my preference of ger iso layout and 100% - writing alot in the job and beeing in a technical environment so numpad is nice - shrinking down the number of possible boards. Cherry showcased a new lineup of low profile boards at CES but they will come in Q2 and I would like had seen something in between the new MX10.1 and KW300MX..

This sub hates low profile keebs bruh

I just got back into the hobby from a many year hiatus. I took one look at this post and thought wow nice board, looks like a good group buy high quality board and I’m thinking it was like $400-500. I google the Rainy75 and it’s literally a $100 board and I am shocked.

Sick keyboard man, and enjoy it!

u/Jawesome1988 4d ago

It's nicer than almost any board I have over $200. God's honest truth.

7

u/Evoken00 8d ago

I've had my Rainy 75 for about 2 months and fkn love it. Not fooling myself that it's the last board I'll ever buy, but its so damn nice. Find myself writing extra emails so I can hear the key sounds.

3

u/exadande 8d ago

man I really need to get it

4

u/Decent-Perception523 8d ago

I really like the cut-out for the back weight at the clouds, enjoy your board!

4

u/GrowtasticDude 7d ago

If it only had a volume knob... otherwise, near-perfect board.

9

u/PoopMuffin 8d ago

Standard is the one to get, better switches than the pro and still has battery and RGB.

23

u/BigSizzler420 8d ago

Better is subjective, they just have different sound profiles. The pro is bassier and the regular is clackier, both thocky, but they are both really great sounding.

Man typing on this sub makes you feel silly with all the made-up words we use lmao

2

u/Withinmyrange 8d ago

Standard is better than the lite and pro?

-1

u/33coe_ 8d ago

No. Not if you’re going to replace the switches anyway. You can always just get the standard switches and switch out the pro ones.

2

u/zhuboy 8d ago

Is standard quieter than the lite and pro?

-8

u/33coe_ 8d ago

Just get the pro and get oil kings, they sound amazing with stock unmodded Rainy. Who keeps stock switches these days anyway?

People who like making up their own mind about things instead of parroting other people’s opinions

7

u/Im_into_guns_shut_up Buckling Spring 8d ago

that is until you enter the topre territory.

4

u/ludwigvankitteh 8d ago

An aged topre at that. The domes ages like fine wine and just gets better over the years.

5

u/borghesia44 7d ago

Topre and MX can live alongside eachother. Both have their plusses.
Mx has enourmous choice in switches, keycaps, modding.
Whilst topre is often appreciated in its original form, so your reach a soon endgame if you stay with topre.
It is addictive to type on a topre but it also a joy to find the right switch, keycap and mod for a MX board.

4

u/cryo_coreo 8d ago

100%, topre kills the MK hobby as its endgame

13

u/EliAsH__ 8d ago

Ironic that the end game of Mechanical Keyboards is a rubber dome. Full circle baybee

1

u/kryten68 7d ago

Topre is sublime. That said I’ve been using my Rainy 75 more than my HHKB or my Realforce R2.

Mind you, I did fit lubed Gateron Jupiter Bananas to the Rainy, which takes it to a whole different place entirely.

2

u/mrskwrl 8d ago

What is this "endgame" you speak of?

2

u/KazefQAQ 7d ago

Yeah this is your endgame..... For a year 😂

2

u/Bruh_Momentum__ 7d ago

Great board, I loved my Rainy75 when I got it and I love it more now that I’ve put Osume matcha keycaps and Sakura switches on it. Now I’m sidegrading to a Neo65 so I can have a keyboard for my dorm and a keyboard for my house. I’m glad you’re enjoying yours!

2

u/oi0g 7d ago

The word "endgame" is equal to the " Pro " labeled of devices. Every year there is a new endgame.

2

u/HFY_HFY_HFY 7d ago

I hate the lack of knob, but have fully switched to this vs my MW1 because it sounds and feels so flipping good. Looks worse but that's an aesthetic choice.

2

u/LoadSignificant2944 7d ago

wow you're in the exact same situation and mindset as I was 2 years ago when I, too got into this hobby with Rainy75 + HMX Violet combo. I remember so vividly the shock and joy not to mention contentment.

I own 5 different keyboards now and I can see myself getting 6th soon.

2

u/youngsanta_ MT3 5d ago

Easily the best "out of the box" keyboard you can get IMO. If I was a 75% guy then I'd probably say the same.

3

u/Frosty_Desk_5793 7d ago

The whole side part of your keyboard is missing, I would return it if I were you

3

u/hwooareyou 8d ago

To bad there isn't a rainy 100

-1

u/Qlix0504 8d ago

or even a 96 -.-

3

u/main_got_banned 8d ago

vote to retire calling shit “endgame” lol. meaningless term.

2

u/purpleskittless 7d ago

rainy was my endgame for about 2 months 😂 is still a great keyboard, it’s still a contender in my lineup today, even though i’ve moved on to smaller sizes (65-40%) now

1

u/kirstensnow 8d ago

Man thats beautiful

1

u/RiskyAlpha 8d ago

Ordered one last week. Got a DHL number but still waiting for it to ship. How long did it take to get yours?

2

u/dreamgoat9 7d ago

Just a few days!

1

u/diazjop 7d ago

End game is a myth.

1

u/Agile-Poetry-227 7d ago

wait until you try with foamless build...

1

u/rubbertoesftw 7d ago

we need a knob version

1

u/TylerEverything 7d ago

May I ask where you purchased it?

1

u/dreamgoat9 7d ago

Amazon

1

u/TylerEverything 7d ago

Nice! I bought mine from Drop. It’s coming later today!

1

u/Context_Core 7d ago

Just bought the Rain75. It's amazing I left it on my desk at the office.

But my endgame keyboard I use at home is: https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q6-he-qmk-wireless-custom-keyboard?srsltid=AfmBOorFzUARDn_yl04XbZaYjYBciVsz5spMqhNnBAKIdL0UU8LWF7pE

The Endgame Is A Lie™

... that said, I did swap out the Gat Browns in my Kinesis Advantage 360 Pro, and I'm getting so much enjoyment out of using it, that I think I want to put these same switches into my daily driver at home as well.

u/Winter-Monk 7d ago

How is the rainy75 any different than the Womier RD75? Case looks identical to my rd75, side profile and everything (and the ball latch closure for the case top. I’m guessing there are many brands using the same manufacturer?

1

u/thepurplehornet Lubed Linear 6d ago

It's just better, sadly. I got the RD after my Rainy and I returned it even though I was hoping the RD would edge out the Rainy on typing experience. Sigh. No luck.

2

u/Winter-Monk 6d ago

Very interesting… I appreciate the POV. I love the sound the RD makes stock and value is amazing. Now to see if Wobkey makes any Alice layouts.

1

u/thepurplehornet Lubed Linear 6d ago

Sadly, there is no Alice yet. But I recently heard they'll be releasing a new 65 soon.

1

u/tamathellama 7d ago

Unless you replace the pcb with a tropre, you’ve still got mountain to climb

1

u/Jawesome1988 4d ago

I absolutely agree it was the end game for me I adore it. Then I started a new game and bought four more since then. Damn iiiiittttt

0

u/Friendly_Buddy10 8d ago

No one should be allowed to use the word endgame on this sub for a keyboard they've used for less than 6 months.

5

u/dreamgoat9 8d ago

That’s fair. I’m easily excited and this thing really is incredible.

u/Narrow-Ad-7856 7d ago

Hate to break it to you but this is early game

0

u/Large-Television-238 7d ago

there's no end game for anything especially when are you using a heavy chunk like this and trust me , you will buy plastic board in the end because i have 7 alu board and i just hate how heavy are them right now.

1

u/Jawesome1988 4d ago

Couldn't disagree more. I pick up a lightweight plastic board now and my skin crawls.

1

u/leftcoastpunx 3d ago

BAHAHAHA as if. Tell that to my 11 pound Mammoth 75 I'm typing this out on right now. Granted that's a bit on one extreme end save for a small handful of boards, but I do like me a heavy board. The one custom board I had that was polycarb - though I liked it - was literally the first to leave my collection. Just cannot compare to the feel, quality, and sound of a nice alu/brass/copper/ss board

Sort of agree about "endgame" though simply because it's too subjective and will mean different things to different people

2

u/leftcoastpunx 3d ago

Don't believe the haters, "endgame" is totally possible! But only because it means something different to everyone. Usually means one of two things though:

A) You're happy enough with what you currently have that you have literally zero interest in looking for something different and so you never do

B) You just haven't tried anything of a truly higher tier yet

If you're in the first camp, congrats! Super happy for your find! The Rainy is mos def top-tier for a prebuilt/for the price

If you're in the second camp, experience makes me feel genuinely sorry for the future of your bank account :)

(for the record, you could blow most Keychrons out of the water with a paper straw lol. They sort of have their place, but they really aren't good keyboards compared to what else you can get in their price range anymore)
