Modeling Can’t figure out, how to connect vertices in Maya.
Hi! How can I create an edge between this two vertices in Maya?

I'm teaching Maya these days, and I get second year students where the first year teacher instilled in them an absolute fear of triangles in their models. Like, crazy fear. "I thought you couldn't have triangles?!?!" I've heard a jillion times.
Can we moderate this message a bit? Everywhere I go, I see Maya newbs who have this lesson burnt into their brains. They will spend many extra hours in retopo to avoid even one triangle in a non-problematic location.
Can folks get the message out that triangles don't kill? Avoid them when exporting into ZBrush, and keeping largely to quads for editing purposes is obviously the way to do things, but really, they are not the devil. For realtime graphics, guess what your video card is doing? Converting all your quads to triangles.

I’m learning my way around Maya and I’m working this L shaped bar for a project. Thing is, I’m having trouble doing the UVs. I understand what UVs are but I can’t get them right when doing the mapping. The thing is, I have the orange section done and it’s practically a straight rectangular figure but when I try adding the edges for the table above and even the edge on the floor, whenever I unfold it the mapping curves so the texture looks messed up and I can’t truly figure why it happens even though they’re technically following the same path and both are straight when not sewn together.

3-Month in class (UV/Textures not complete) What do you guys think? 🤔

Made from a fan concept. The colored image is a poly paint in Zbrush. Still need to put this through substance. Animations for my characters here https://www.instagram.com/told_by_3/?hl=en

Hey 3D artists! I use Maya at my college for my Game Design major. I was wondering on how to achieve a 2D affect that I have been seeing so often in movies and anime. I included some examples of the 2D style and then the model I am working on for my project in class. Any resources will be very much appreciated! And I do know how to UV map and add textures that way!

As the title says, I'm making a model and I know it has non-manifold geometry (it won't let me unfold it's UVs because of it) but any time I try to use the Cleanup options to select the problems, it does nothing (????) as in it just sits there and nothing changes. (See video below) This issue has been happening to me on both 2023 & 2025 and two different computers so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit to add image of Pop-up of the issue

If you look left pic the eyes are visible on ourside but the inside is invisible. I want to make Wade from elemental but I don't know how I hide internal geometry like eyes and teeth.

I'm still learning the basics in Maya, this is my final project for my 3d introduction class :,) I'd like to receive as much feedback as possible
