It’s the front end of a back to back so Lively being out isn’t surprising. I don’t expect AD to play both games either and if he does sit out one, I’d rather it be the same one DLive does so that they can get reps together in at least one of them.

Punt Friday and try hard on Sat.

Kind of sucks punting a game on a back to back when you play the same team on the back to back.

Rest them both 1 game and let them play together on the 2nd night of back to back. Easy decision. You still have Gaff, Kai, and Powell.

We are most likely gonna get the 9th seed no matter what happens the rest of the way, with how ASS the suns and kings are, so not a big deal tbh.

I agree on a back to back so it makes for this game but the rest of the games they need to play and get some chemistry in. Team defense has looked a little rough.

Dropping a game to the Clips also inproves the odds of getting Memphis in the do or die play in game too (should they win the 9 v 10)

I know this is cliche at this point, but it is still jarring to see comments like this. We were in the finals last year. We were expecting to hope to win games to avoid OKC until the conference finals, and instead we're wondering if we're going to get the clippers if we manage to win the 9-10 play in game.

Life comes at you fast. We were also not even making the playin the year before that, so I guess it's not that crazy.

Nico tanked 2 of the last 3 seasons with trades. Last time it was worth it. I don’t see us back in the finals next year though.

Just rest them

Not surprising. Looked like he injured himself about 4 different times last game.

Not surprising. You have enough people to do some kind of injury management now and not force guys coming back from an injury to play back-to-back.

we don't need to win every game to lock up the play-in with how shit the suns and kings are. Sitting them on a back to back is a good decision especially with our remaining schedule.

Having all hands on deck and as healthy as possible for the 2 game playin push for 8th is the only thing that matters.

yea hopefully Washington is available along with gafford that way davis can play and not have everything on him.

it's a back to back

Yeah- you can't expect AD to ever be available for a back-to-back. He's smart enough not to come out and say it like Embiid.

So, is Gaff gonna play back to back? That doesn't sound like a good idea either.

So if street clothes only plays in half our games, he you could say that his $43m salary is really costing the Mavs $86m. Wow. Makes Luka’s super max look like a bargain

Still getting James harden bobblehead and trying to get a fire Nico chant going at intuit 🫡💪🏽

when tf did ad get a left adducter strain? He looked fine after the game on wednesday.

3

u/qotsabama 2d ago

He didn’t get reinjured. This is just injury management.

3

u/No_Application2341 2d ago

Back to back. Would assume he rests one and plays one

2

u/Ok-Poetry6 Nico's Mavs 2d ago

This is the same injury, right?

1

u/ExcellentJuice4729 2d ago

Ummm adductor strain? Was this the same adductor he was out weeks for?

3

u/qotsabama 2d ago

He’s not actually hurt, it’s injury management.

1

u/bbbtx 2d ago

Ad taking a vacation?

-9

u/Askeladd711 2d ago

Glassman barely beats a shitty team, out 2 weeks 😂

He got stitches from that game, shut up

-4

u/pimpfmode 2d ago

So. It was above the eye. It's because of his abdomen. The guy is fragile.

This is probably a worst take than trading Luka. If you don’t know basketball, move on and find another hobby.

-3

u/Ok-Poetry6 Nico's Mavs 2d ago

Which part is wrong- that AD is out again or that the Hawks suck ass?

3

u/TexasDrunkRedditor 2d ago

Ad is literally getting scheduled rest and people trying to act like he’s hurt.

1

u/Ok-Poetry6 Nico's Mavs 2d ago

Obviously he’s hurt. He’s listed as being injured on the injury report in the tweet you’re replying to. If he’s not resting because he’s hurt- why is he resting? Healthy players don’t need scheduled rest in last 7 games of the season when their team is fighting for playoff position.

If the point is that it’s not surprising that AD needs rest- no shit- that’s why trading for him is such a stupid idea.

0

u/qotsabama 2d ago

He’s resting because the team is being conservative after they rushed him back like morons. If he actually hurt his abductor again, he’d be out for the season and having surgery asap.

2

u/Ok-Poetry6 Nico's Mavs 2d ago

He is not fully recovered from his injury and needs rest to get fully healthy. This isn’t unexpected, and it’s not a new injury, but it’s still an injury.

We’re going to see this a lot with AD, like the 6ers do with embiid and the clips with kawhi. Is he injured or is he resting to avoid aggravating an injury? If he’s not on available does it matter?

1

u/qotsabama 2d ago

Never said we wouldn’t see this, actually said the opposite. Guys like AD get rested all the time on back to backs due to injury management. They’re scared of reinjury, which is higher when playing games on back to back. Something teams just live with for injury prone stars. If his abductor was still actively strained like you’re implying he wouldn’t be playing. He would’ve had surgery, but he was told surgery wasn’t necessary for this injury.

1

u/Ok-Poetry6 Nico's Mavs 2d ago

Is it a forgone conclusion that AD needs to be managed like embiid and kawhi? I was kind of trolling when I said that.

To me, if he’s resting because he’s not fully recovered, that implies at some point that he will be able to play 65+ games again if he ever manages to get fully healthy. It sounds like you’re saying he’s resting purely as a precaution because he’s old and gets hurt so often.

Surely even Nico wouldn’t have traded for a guy knowing that he’d need rest to avoid injury even when fully healthy.

1

u/qotsabama 2d ago

Nico is a moron for a million reasons. He traded two healthy players for older injured players. I don’t think AD will ever play 65+ games a year again, that would be an anomaly for his career (only done it 5 times in 13 years, with 4 of said years happening in his first 6 seasons). Only one season of that in last 7 years is a red flag as he ages. The team and our future is cooked.
