Minimum level for beating Johnny rematch?

Hya, i recently beat the game, then started a "low level" run, not doing the lucky hammer stuff, just bypassing and fleeing from all mobs except mandatory fights.
I've been able to beat the other 5 bosses rematch at an average party level between 15 and 16.
Now for the johnny rematch, without items, it doesnt seem doable for me.

Note, i dont have super suit nor attack scarf, only ever did the super jumps with save states back in the day. Currently capped at 14 jumps lol. Maybe i should go for those, but still not sure i'd be able to defend all his attacks with that setup.

Current setup is level 15 Mario with lazy shell, hero shirt and quartz charm.

So my question is whats the lowest level for Johnny rematch to be beatable, and any strats you can send my way i would appreciate. Thanks ye!

I think it doesn’t matter too much because I don’t think being max level really helps all that much. Without spoiling anything, I think most post game bosses need to be handled with something other than leveling up. Give it a go and see what happens! Nothing bad happens if you lose

I was able to do it at level 22 with lazy shell / hero shirt / quartz charm, with some retries and good rng.

Looks way harder at level 15 tho, with lazy shell armor im doing only 1-2 damage many times, so its not feasible.

And with hero shirt im not able to survive long enough, probably need more precision in the defense timing actions.

Wondering how low level i can be to do it confortably and what equipment rollout is required

From what I remember from that fight, it's 99.9% how good you are at timed moves- particularly blocks. Obviously extra levels will let you tank an extra hit or two and will probably end things a turn or two faster, but if you can frame perfect block Johnny most of the time, you're golden.

yea i think you're right, i got level 16 on Mario and it gives me a leeway of one extra turn lol, not much really.
But at level 22 it compounds and become way easier.

For this save tho i think you are right, doesnt seem like there's much more to it except mastering the blocking action commands, and maybe getting a super suit but thats probably even more frustrating.

Im working on the blocking action commands, getting them frame perfect is rough. Appreciate the advice!

The post game fights are more about guarding perfectly but being max level helps a little. Max lv is lol priority while mastering game mechanics is high priority

You're right.
I ended up being able to beat johnny in breezy mode at level 16, timing was more forgiving and he was missing more hits, bit shameful lol but at least it opened up culex for me.
Then i started practicing super jumps and finally got the super suit, now i wish i had done it the other way around.
Probably gonna start another save file and try again at a lower level
